Future value/ your opinions
Speaking from NZ point of view, the 510 or Bluebird as they were known here, was a relatively cheap car which was reasonably popular, and were seen every where on our roads at the time, but never gained the same mystique as a 240Z . The early Bluebirds are having a bit of a comeback with some young guys, but I can't imagine they will ever overtake the 240 in value.

Datsun 240 Z SUPER SAMURAI?
'Super Samuri' are a series of 240Zs 'breathed on' for customers of a performance shop in the UK by one Spike Anderson, of 'Big Sam' fame. They are now quite rare . 'Big Sam' was raced to many victories by Win Percy, one of Britains great touring car drivers. Edit-Quote -"And if you happen to be passing that way in your shiny new Super Car, and come across the meanest looking Datsun you ever saw, think twice before taking it on, and avoid egg on your face" End quote.

Installing Timing Chain When Rebuilding Motor on Stand
Thats good coverage Blue, and should help many people out. Thanks I could have used the advice a while back, but managed to sort it, using my Haynes manual. Brian

An original 240Z exhaust for $120
The origional exhaust, while it looks good, can be corroding from the inside. A 40 year old car with very low miles, has more than likely been used tootling around local and seldom got hot enough to cook out the exhaust.

Door re-trimming - Help with chrome trim
I am having the same dilema. I have found some strip in a roll which is the same width as origional. I don't know where the shop got it, but I could find out for you. It has a peel strip, but I'm not sure if it is very sticky. I havn't followed up on it. What width do you need?

No return spring boss on clutch slave -- OK?
Should have said -- my 240 is a 72.

No return spring boss on clutch slave -- OK?
I replaced my slave 3 or 4 months back, with no spring, and no problems.

low oil pressure
First thing to do is replace the oil sender switch. Belts can squeek or squeal.

Oil Pump Reassembly
Mine looks like it may have been glued to both surfaces with kryptonite. Even after a night's soak in varsol it would not budge. I just used aviation form-a-gasket and reassembled. It should be a good test of the stuff.[/quote Your pump end clearance must be worn for someone to omit the gasket. Silly question I guess, but does the pump still rotate .?

flashing from the car next to me.
It would be nice but almost impossible to have a camera or phone handy just when you need it.

First startup after 8 years! Tell me what you think! VIDEO
The low oil pressure could be nothing more than a bad sensor, even though it is new. I've had a crook one.

Newb to Z's. 280 value question.
Dash is cracked in pic 2. Above speedo I must have been REALLY lucky when I found my 240.-- Mint dash. They are still to be found. Of course be concerned about rust.

Newb to Z's. 280 value question.
Cracked dash! Looks like. You don't want to start with that problem.

getting more HP in 78 280z
Stoplight drags didn't impress any girls I knew. Clean shiny car yes, and the head work for sure. The date that I married all those years ago, was more impressed with driving that got us home safe.

Vibration when going above 65 mph
I had set of off centre tyres. Impossible to balance. Falcon brand. Crap.

Someone mentioned MX5. My son is getting 245 RWH from an MX5 1800 supercharged, and it looks stock. Amazing acceleration. (if thats your thing)

72 240z exterior door handle rubber bits
I made mine from some flat rubber left over from making my fuel filler flap. Could have been a bit thicker but quite good.

problem with start up after installing headers
Yes, it's good to get confirmation of a result. Some don't bother.

momentous occasion
My 240 clicked over to 00000 the same day I bought it and drove it home 12 years ago. Didn't think to take any pics.

Timing damage? I hope not...
Pictures of the piston would be good.

This Old Hose.........
Yep. And the waterblaster makes it a very simple job. The finish is the same as a new hose.
