  1. Keep the Z faith! I know what you are going through... it's mind boggling and stressful. But I am sure the members here will get you solved!
  2. Looks off you got off to a great start I love the "frig" in the front... Goodluck!
  3. Congratulations! I second all the requests for pics
  4. He put the wats on already Andy It looks aweeeeesomeee.... surfertech - no problem! good luck~!!
  5. I do not know if the headers will work on the car... I am pretty sure you will be fine... he is running pretty ridiculously "bosozoku-style" low. Pictures attached.
  6. surfer.tech, I can confirm that this exhaust DOES work. My close friend, who has a gnose 71 240Z, has this exhaust and ordered it from rhdjapan.com. He had a custom mandrel bent flange mated to it so it could be fit to the MSA header. Other than that, the exhaust fits perfect and sound. Do consider however that you may not want to purchase it for an overly LOW car though, as it does tend to hang a tad low. Let me also say, this is by my opinion, the BEST sounding exhaust on a early Z car. The dual pipes release a solid, NON-DRONING, sound at low and high rpm's. I can get a picture of the exhaust on his car for you. I'll ask him.
  7. Did you check your throttle plates? Spray carb cleaner on them while the engine is running to see if the car stalls. A few people pointed that out in the past as a possible problem =T
  8. I have a great amount of respect for the guy, but I can agree with Alan on this one. Wonderful video, but it seemed like Mr. Matsuo was taking a bit too much credit. They made him sound as if he was the "sole creator" of the Z car, which in actually as Alan said, a lot more people were involved. At the same time, it probably would be too much to ask to gather all the individuals to include in the video. Secondly, I feel that Matsuo did not fully understand some of the questions the interviewer was asking, which often ended up in an awkward smile and nod. It was quite odd... from my experience at least, Japanese men are often known to be a bit more modest. I may be overexaggerating though, as his English skill may have had an effect on what he really wanted to convey. He probably did not mean to come off arrogant sounding.
  9. Ahhh, so jealous you guys aren't in California!
  10. Excellent video, thanks for posting this Carl.
  11. lucasbp, Looking good! Keep up the good work, the car will look excellent with paint tlorber, I have 225/16/50 Falken Azenis RT-615 on my car with a factory valance. I can confirm that THESE tires do not work, and I doubt any other 225 tire would clear the valance. However, when I had the MSA type-1 spoiler, I just had to shave a bit off. I am switching to 215/16/45, which should clear. Also you may be able to go with the +4 offset wheels, I know 70Camguy on these forums had some luck with those. But he is running coils.
  12. Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I called my Nissan dealership today and they said that part number 14035-E4610 is the new number for the intake/manifold gasket. I will be picking it up today, kinda pricy at $33, but I'll see the quality before I purchase and report back.
  13. You have what ZT calls a "euro-style" balance tube as well
  14. Welcome to the forums Bud! That seems like a very odd area for rust to form. On the corners of the hood, closest to the cockpit? I've seen a little rust develop on some Z cars in that area, but that was from taking the hood off the car, standing it upright and leaning it against a wall. But after you description of originality, I think that is hardly the case. Possibly condensation that developed in the cold winters of New York? I'd imagine a new hood would be better... Getting a good alignment on these hoods are hard enough. You could get new metal welded in and sanded down but that involves repainting anyway, so might as well get a new hood and save your old one Just my opinion anyways, others may differ
  15. Great buy and beautiful car! Those are definitely some interesting hood vents... And great steal on those wheels
  16. I would be very curious to learn more about this product as well.
  17. Very interesting Alan. I didn't know the "later" sets were made out of polished steel. Mine sure felt like chrome, but then again, I don't know of the differences in feel of polished steel and chromed steel. maybe that's why they haven't pitted yet... Anyways, here is a pic I posted up before of my 1972 Fairlady 240Z-L (10/1971) which has the "later" mounting hole locations on the headlight buckets.
  18. I have a set in boxes off my Fairlady 240Z-L, I'll double check the hole location when I'm home... wow intense!
  19. 5thhorseman, What is "Z-BART-TED"? I can confirm, at least on a 70-72... you do not need to drop the tank. I did this, and I know it can be a <30 minute job. It took me longer because I was an idiot and did not empty the tank, nor seal the locking plate correctly. But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.
  20. 5thhorsemann, You have to empty the fuel in the tank, or at least until the level of fuel is below the sending unit opening. Once you do so, align a screw driver or punch to the "teeth" of the locking plate of the old unit and lightly hammer the locking plate counter-clockwise out of place. Make sure you do not bend the locking plate at all, as the concaveness has a role in keeping the unit in place. Pull the old unit out, REPLACE THE O-RING (do not skip this), and then slide the new unit in and re-lock it. Also, on a side note, remember where the two wires going into the unit sit. I'd recommend to replace both o-ring and locking plate if you do not mind spending the extra $5.00 or so from MSA. Good luck, and remember to wear goggles... as you'll get tons of grime on your face.
  21. Welcome back! Hope you can get your Z back on the road ASAP; you should provide some pics! It may get the thread going
  22. Is your vehicle carb'ed or stock EFI? One of my Zs is doing this as well, and I am currently diagnosing the problem. Many have told me it may have to do with the mechanical fuel pump not pumping enough gas. But I am assuming your vehicle has the electric, which may be malfunctioning?
  23. Just to clear up the "did you mount it upside down" question... I mounted the sending unit so that the tab with the black rubber or bushing (???) is on the top and the exposed tab directly below it. Is this correct? I will check the grounds this weekend. Guess I'll have to get my hands dirty and track the system all the way to the front.
