  1. With that beauty of a car, it BETTER bug you! Hope to see you at a local meet sometime... that car is definitely a beauty.
  2. wmitch, First, I'd like to say that your car is absolutely STUNNING. Never has green looked so good in my eyes. I'm really loving the wheels as well. As for the downpipe, I am sure you can give http://www.zbarn.com a ring. Roger there has helped me with multiple hard-to-find parts. The shipping is not inflated, and the parts, may be dirty, but are solid. Zbarn has over 400+ Z cars in their junkyard (from their site). If they don't have what you are looking for, I don't know what to tell ya! spitz17
  3. Thanks jerry, I appreciate it! I read up a bit online, and a few sites said that the throttle plate that is marked with 165, 175 or 185 is stamped on the manifold side. Would that not make it non-visible from looking in the air cleaner side?
  4. Hi everyone, I am going to look at a Z today that has Triple Mikuni Carburetors. I want to make sure I can identify the sizing of the carburetors, whether they are 40mm, 44mm, or 50mm (doubtful). The car has a L28, so it will most likely be 44mm, but I am not 100% sure. I understand there are stamps on the Butterfly throttle plates, does anyone have a picture of the stamped number? I understand 40mm would be stamped 165, 44mm would be stamped 175, and 50mm stamped 185. Any pictures would be of great assistance! Thank you, spitz17
  5. Welcome Chuck, The paint is beautiful on that car! Very original as well, with the hubcaps, antenna, etc. Best of luck with your orange Z! spitz17
  6. 90 Days... man, that'll be one hell of a trip. I hope something comes along your way. For those out there that don't know, Z has always been on the look out to help other Z owners with parts, etc. Not the mention the awesome ANSA exhaust he's made. Definitely a good guy. Best of luck man!
  7. Welcome to the forums. In terms of your future 240Z you want to fix up, hybridz.org will be a good source of modified material/FAQ. But, you've mentioned you want to keep your 260Z original, so you've come to the right place! Another, CA driver!
  8. I jacked up the control arm to get mine in. Another option is use the old bolts and pieces etc, just swap the bushings. It is pretty tough though.
  9. Awesome shots man, hope you find your prize asap
  10. http://www.zhome.com/zcarfilesJPEG/MacPhersonStrut.jpg Under the spring seat.
  11. Major power increases really varies for these cars. 200hp on a 72 240Z would be more than enough IMHO. But if you aren't too picky about original engine matching, you can always swap in a L28ET or a V8 which gives you a lower more power flexibility. At the same time, you must worry about the body of the car as a whole, as they are not made to withstand great power.
  12. Awesome looking bumpers... I agree, they aren't too pricey for what you get in the long run. Is this the correct link for the current eBay listing? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240Z-240-Z-Bumper-Kit-New_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2ea8543ea1QQitemZ200392588961QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories Just curious, does anyone know the black bumper/airdam on that red Z?
  13. http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/cto/1675702296.html -------------------------------- This is a good, early, numbers-matching platform for a full restoration. I picked it up with the intent to do just that but things became complicated and I simply haven't been able to come up with the time. It has a small amount of rust at the front of the rear fenders and some on the floor pans, it's the least I've seen on any unrestored Z. It's been parked for two years and is in need of air in the tires, fresh gas, and a battery but I would recommend trailering it unless you live within a few miles. #1222 Green Indymag wheels I will not sell to anyone I can't meet in person. -------------------------------- #1222, I'm on a role today xD Note: I am not acquainted with this seller what-so-ever. I do not know him/her.
  14. http://mobile.craigslist.org/cto/1675837019.html ------------------------ Vin 1694 California car very little rust many parts not running bumpers in good shape, need chrome ------------------------ Just thought I'd put this up for anyone interested... looks like it needs a bit of work tho! Note: I am not acquainted with this seller what-so-ever. I do not know him/her.
  15. Awesome Z, now make a "WingZr0 Rally Clock" for me Hahah, great product that I may be purchasing in the near future!
  16. Wow... amazing, can't wait till the final pics
  17. wow... 2001 Audi A4 Quattro 2.8L 2004 Subaru WRX Impreza 2004 Subaru WRX Impreza STi 2008 BMW E92 M3 2010 Toyota Prius 1970 Datsun 240Z Not nearly as much as d240zx2... haha
  18. Sounds like the symptoms of my bad battery a few months ago!
  19. Not my cup of tea, but cool at that! The vanity plate is creative hahaha.
  20. What buffing method will you use?
  21. Ibpdz, I saw that on craigslist today too. Looks like a pretty solid car that would only need a paint job. I saw the youtube, but I wonder if it can actually be daily drivable. The seller does not say anything about rust, and the Cali plate is a newer version... so it may have been out of state /shrug. If you do happen to check it out, please keep us updated!
  22. Welcome to the forum! You can also consider a 280ZX 70-83 or a 280ZX Turbo 81-83! These are very capable cars and much more reliable if you are not mechanically inclined. With the EFI system, it will definitely not hold you back. In the mean time, you can save up for a 240Z when your older. If you have to buy a 240Z or 280Z, I'd say ask your parents to help you out and buy a better condition car, get a job, and pay them back. It's better to start out good than bad. Trust me, it sucks to have a DD you can't drive.
  23. Welcome to the club, I am not sure how much info this site has about 280ZX but check out www.zhome.com, lots of good Z info there. I believe 82-83 280ZX had a small hood scoop infront of the drivers side. Other than that... erm.. If it is a Turbo it will be years 81-83. Or if it has multiple colors (gold/black or red/black) it may be years 79 or 80.
  24. ... that was beautiful.. sniff sniff hahah nice one JC
