  1. Goodluck with your search! I would recommend searching in California to start your search
  2. Welcome to the forums Racer Z. I purchased STi companion flanges from Beta Motorsports as well, so I saw you before on HybridZ's group buy thread. I often go to Buttonwillow as well, great track. Just got back from my first experience at Laguna Seca yesterday, gotta say that's a whole other animal!
  3. Yesterday, Laguna Seca Raceway... 09 Lamborghini Gallardo LP-560...
  4. Kats, That is great news to hear! It is very interesting to know that even the wiper blades were black! I still have one original black wiper blade. I will paint both my wipers black now that I have learned this. Thanks for the great pictures!
  5. I parked at Starbucks yesterday in the Fairlady, and someone sitting at an outside started talking with me. Stranger: "Beautiful car man!! Is that a Z?!" Me: "Thanks! Yes it is..." Stranger: "Are you the original owner!?!?!?!?!?" Me: (blank stare) ".... no...?" ... I am 24.
  6. Oh there we go! I hope this will be a great event Looking forward to it.
  7. kats, I am loving that key holder! The clock is pretty interesting too. Also, back to your discussion regarding the Fairlady 240Z (HS30S) that you posted a picture of earlier. It was not visible in your picture so I thought I would ask... Do you know if the HS30S had black wind shield wiper arms? I was adding the driver side wiper arm on my Fairlady 240Z-L, because I was missing one. I received the driver side from espriest and after I looked at my old passenger arm, I noticed it had faded black paint! I spoke with espriest and he said that some of the 240Z-L and 240Z-G came with black wiper arms, per his parts catalog. I guess I will be painting mine soon! I am just curious as to if you saw this on the HS30S as well, and if you happen to have a picture? I am also interested in finding out whether the wiper BLADES were also black as well...
  8. Here are some pics for you guys Had a custom flange welded to the exhaust to fit onto an MSA 6-1 Header. I'll post those detailed pictures later.
  9. I found a set of black spark plug wires with black boots that works with our Z's. They are labeled "Pro Series by Federal," made by Standard Motor Products. I just got them at my generic auto store (Winchester Auto Parts) here in San Jose. The black wires may be mistaken for gray as in the picture the light was shining directly on them. The set also has one angled spark plug boot for the hole closest to the firewall.
  10. Thank you for clarifying Alan. I feel a bit more enlightened after reading how you put Matsuo's perspective into being. I can see now that during the round-table period he may have been put into the shadows of many different people, but now is more often approached by the english-speaking media. I would be very interested in reading this two-page article from the issue of "Kyu Sha Jin." Mike B, I did see that excellent quote shortly after I posted my comment.
  11. I agree with Alan, that statement feels like a low jab. The video of Mr. Matsuo that was released a few months met quite a bit of controversy on this forum when he stated that HE designed the Z. Now it looks like Mr. K is taking credit, and giving some to "two Nissan designers." Now I am not an expert, but after seeing a video of an older American gentleman, the Mr. Matsuo video, and this Mr. K article, all claiming that they designed/created the Z's, I am quite confused. Per Mike B's other article thread it stated: "The designers of record at Nissan are Yoshihiko Matsuo, chief designer; Akio Yoshoda, exterior designer; Sue Chiba, interior design; Eiichi Oiwa and Kiichi Nishikawa, design assistants. Hidemi Kamahara and Tsuneo Benitani engineered the car and Teiichi Hara oversaw the whole process. But because Katayama was in on the entire project from the concept stage, talking about future cars with the designers before they knew about the 240Z project, he is credited as much as anyone else. That sounds like quite a bit more than "two Nissan designers." I'm so confused, . Is everyone just trying to take credit for themselves?
  12. SUPER dirty, but I did it myself. Just remember to wear a mask of some sort and goggles. You can use a piece of wood and a jack to help bring down the fuel tank.
  13. I think what FastWoman meant was that Perfect240Z meant the PCV hoses, rather than that reducer hose? Perfect240Z mentioned the hose went from the engine block to the intake manifold, so if I am correct it may be this one? http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/15-6210 I think the reducer was one of the water hoses that goes around the engine and into the intake manifold.
  14. That was very good morning read! Shortly after, they must have released that totally ugly prototype of the 350Z. Thank god they didn't release that into production: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/63/Conceptz.jpg
  15. I think someone mentioned that the wires Nissan now sells are from a 280ZX and blue...?
  16. Arne, I just want to give a quick update on the Magstar Gold item if you do not mind. I e-mailed them through their website the response I got was: "Thanks for your inquiry. I sold my company a couple of years ago so that Magstar set is no longer available. You can order a 23-6316 (Magstar Racing) from Advance Auto Parts. It is available in red or blue and is an extremely high quality / high performance set. It is 8.5mm in diameter. Best regards, Brian Moore Wiretec, a General Cable 407-578-4569" So it looks like the Magstar Golds are no longer available I may be looking into a set from Banzai Motorworks.
  17. This is "normal" in the sense that tons of Z's have this problem. I would definitely consider dropping the tank and sending it to a radiator shop for some acid treatment/resealing. $300-400 goes a long way, or at least it is better than replacing a motor. Not only does this crap get into your engine, but it also gives the gas a weird looking color that could be harmful to your engine. Luckily it looks like the fuel filter you had on the car was the rear filter, meaning you have a 72 and above (?). Did you get a chance to look at the fuel filter in the front? Also you can pull the bolt on both float chambers of your carburetors (assuming you have SUs) and check the screen filter that is circulates the tip of the bolt. Check those screen filters to make sure they are clean. I had a bad rust in the gas of my Fairlady, and it ended up freezing a valve in place in my head.
  18. Both of my current Z's: 1971 240Z HLS30-11651 1972 Fairlady 240Z HS30-10052
  19. I don't think he is listing his car for sale. The location in his profile says Colorado and the location that is listed on eBay is Maryland. Just speculation, I cuold be wrong.
  20. Unfortunately what motorman7 says sounds like the case. I do, however, believe they should continue to give back to the Z community who has supported them all these years. Not only do they keep people interested in their products, but also the non-Z guests that are brought along may develop interest in our wonderful cars. 2009-10 was a tough time, but hopefully things will shape up!
  21. I totally forgot about MSA's event after all the hype from ZCON 2010, and upcoming ZCON 2011. Hopefully they'll release some info so I can make the trip down!
  22. 71 Fuse panel cover/ashtray - eBay All interior panels (although we think we can refurbish the door cards, so mainly quarter panels, boot panels etc. Centre console and dash are going to be attampted to be repaired before we look to buy replacements - dash is too expensive!) - ClassicDatsun.Com Replacement vinyl (transmission tunnel, suspension struts etc) ZBarn.com Car seat vinyl replacement (would want to keep original 71 with vents look) 71 Fuse panel cover/ashtray ClassicDatsun.com or TheZStore.com Front/Rear bumpers (supposedly best place is a Vietnam manufacturer which makes them in stainless steel?) MSA.com has Fiberglass ones, the Vietnam Manufacturer is also on eBay and they have received good remarks :classic: Full rubbers (weatherstrip kits - I see on here there's a lot against the Black Dragon Auto full kits as they are too fat so need doors/hatches slamming to shut, but then I'm weary of using a Kia Seconda for all my replacements!) MSA is all on Back Order, the new Black Dragon Kits aren't bad with exception to doors I hear, Kia Sportage Replacements are AWESOME. Gear stick & handbrake boots Gear Stick: ZBarn.com, Handbrake Boot, TheZstore.com Full bushing suspension kit (car stored for 23 years so looking to replace all rubber items!) Energy Bushing Suspension Kit, SummitRacing.com Brake lines (usual Goodridge I guess?) TheZstore.com Engine hoses (anthing rubber in the engine bay really!) TheZstore.com Heater knobs (knobs on the end of the heater controls) Zbarn.com Air vents in dash (left & right) including cables as ours are missing the knobs etc Zbarn.com Clutch (guessing original as original L24 engine + 4 speed box) Centerforce? Classic Datsun is very good for restoration projects, MSA (TheZstore.com) is good for both restoration and modifications, Zbarn.com is for OEM Parts that cannot be found at either of those two locations. Performance sites to keep in mind: arizonazcar.com summitracing.com betamotorsports.com rebelloracing.com
  23. Just put some of the Kia WS on my hatch and doors. I pulled 3 pieces off a four door Sportage at my local Pick-N-Pull and can confirm that the WS for the rear two doors fit snug.
  24. The MSA boot is not too hard in my opinion. It works perfectly well for me, but if you would like to go softer and do not care too much for the lacing you can go with espriest's reproduction as well. It is a soft leather shift boot Made in Japan. Available at both MSA (I believe under Early Shift Boot, of Series I Shift Boot) or on his online site JDM-CAR-PARTS.COM.
  25. Did this screeching sound come when you turn the key to try and crank the motor? if that is the case, it is most likely your starter that has worn out teeth. Depending on how "original" you want the car to be, you may want to invest in a upgraded MSA Alternator Kit with the solenoid plug. Replacing the battery may be a good option too, depending on how old it is.
