  1. It fits but header -> exhaust pipes will need custom flanges unless you use a JDM trust muffler or something of the sort.
  2. Congratulations on your acquiring of that Z!
  3. Ron, That looks awesome!!! Just like mine... but mine aint that shiny anymore :*( RHDJapan got that to you relatively quickly... It was a 2-3 month delivery for mine!
  4. I'd just salvage one from the junk yard Most of them work fine!
  5. Welcome to the club George. You should have a relatively good amount of Zs to pick from in the Bay Area. There were actually a few Series I cars listed this morning and last night on the Bay Area Craigslist ads. Hope you have some good "work" and "play" balance, as the Z will be taking a good portion of your "play" time!
  6. Just curious, what color was the RHD Z you saw?
  7. Ah yes! I have spoken to Ivan a few times. Last I heard from him he purchased another toy to accompany his Hakosuka. Any idea what it was? I presumed it was a Fairlady Z, as during that time there was one up for same. Thank you for the complements, the Fairlady is getting some head work but should be back on the road soon
  8. Okay, I take that back... licenseplates.tv does not offer '73 Texas plates. But I am sure there are other sites that do. If not, maybe you can find a set on eBay
  9. herbsteiner, What you could potentially do... is order a replica plate from http://www.licenseplates.tv/ and have it personalized to an exact match of your rear and just place it on the front. I do not know if Texas requires any stickers on the front plate, I know California does not, but if you do that... I am pretty sure the police would not be particularlly looking out for it. The license plate that they made me is an EXACT replica. If you get pulled over and they find out that it is infact a replica, which is highly doubtful, you could possibly get away with saying the original owner put it on there :X
  10. Definitely looks like a workable project. I'm really digging those wheels! Looks like you got an authentic set of original JDM Black Fender Mirrors. Hope you can get her on the road sometime soon!
  11. Oh my, I will not miss this year.
  12. Hahaha definitely... the 240Z is pretty road worthy, the Fairlady will hopefully be done this week.
  13. Sure thing, we can arrange something through PM. I have a Uni Sync Flowmeter we can use as well.
  14. Perfect240Z, Let me know if you want any local support in fiddling with the carbs. I just removed and reinstalled ZTherapy Carbs on my Fairlady and discovered a few tricks here and there along the way. If your car is still in Mountain View, and you want to stay after work sometime I can help I also have the ZTherapy reference material if you need to borrow :x But I'd recommend you buy a copy, as it is VERY handy in disassemblying carbs and telling you what to look out for!
  15. Welcome! Post some pictures Where in the Bay Area are you? Looks like lots of new comers in the Bay recently.
  16. I wish my luck was like others around here. I've had tons of problems with my two Z's =\ I think the best thing to do is to take the advice of people around here, to spend the money upfront to get a NICE Z. Not only that, but to take it to an inspection before you purchase it. It may be $100-200 for a quick diagnosis at a local shop, but at least then you can get a solid list of what needs to be fixed or upgraded on the car. Most importantly, as people have mentioned, make sure RUST will not be a huge issue. That $3-5k for the car can quickly turn into $10k+ if there is a good amount of rust.
  17. The things we do for our Z's... sigh. .
  18. Goodluck with your search! I hope for your sake, that the car was moved to the west coast at some point in its life!
  19. Let it rest in the garage through this rainy New Years
  20. 1. Get the head finished on the Fairlady 2. Fix the stupid non-reading gas gauge 3. Find out where the quarter size oil leaks are coming from on the 240Z 4. Enjoy!
  21. Check the indented stamp near the brake booster and above the booster vacuum clamp connection on the firewall. There should be a VIN number stamped there, as well a plate on the driver corner of the dash. These will be the only two places assuming both your engine compartment and inner door plates are missing. If they begin with HLS, it is a 240Z. Although the attached picture is not from a 240Z, it is the firewall stamp on my Fairlady 240Z-L (begins with HS30).
  22. I am assuming your 72 240 is on stock brakes? I have installed a 280ZX Master Cylinder on a stock brake set up before and I felt the braking point became very low. Then again I did not have a proportioning valve installed. I had to play with the pushrod a bit (adjusted outwards) and that fixed things a bit, but I never got the right feel. It did not matter so much because I upgraded the brakes shortly thereafter.
  23. Do you mind sharing what brand of insulation you used? Are my eyes messing with me or did you use gold colored zip types to match the zinc?
