  1. What else would you expect with a car with so much history? That's why most of us buy these cars. At least the attention isn't "WOW your a baller who can afford a Ferrari, but live in an apartment!"... It's more like.. "wow this guy has taste." I think that's a complement =P But yea, no go on the ricers.
  2. Honza at Datsonville is a really nice guy. He serviced my Z before, and did an awesome job. They have two shop Zs as well, I think one is his personal V8 conversion.
  3. Your welcome, forums.hybridz.org has a lot of info on the L28 swaps =) I agree! Seller seems legitimate. Remember to take the car for inspection before you purchase. This is an absolute necessity. I was looking at a white Z a few weeks back, and I found out that the seals were leaking, all bushings shot, suspension all shot, blown head gasket, and much more. I'm by no means a pro mechanic, so the $45 dollars for inspection saved me thousands!
  4. Wow, looks great for $300 bucks !
  5. I maybe wrong, but I've read that it may be the differential mount insulator... or the diff strap (esprist sells these).
  6. In terms of motor swap, it really depends. A good starter would be to buy one with a L28 motor. This motor allows a lot of flexibility in tuning. You can keep the EFI if you want to keep reliability etc., but I'd swap some early Z SU carbs (ztherapy.com), to get that old skool feel. If you want to put that $10k towards motor work, get some triple carbs (weber, solex, mikuni). All are a good choice. If you want to stay EFI, you can swap a L28ET motor (from the 280ZX turbo). That'll get you major power in a early Z. Seeing as you're just getting your license, I'm assuming you're on the young side. I suggest you stay with the stock motor to learn how much power you can handle. That's the first step in not becoming the infamous "young kid that posts about wrecking his/her car" thread. Learn your strengths and weakness, tweak the suspension for more power in the future. Enjoy your future Z!!
  7. These: http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/PFFC10/11-4016 Dave, your avatar makes me dizzy hahah
  8. Can't you just purchase the K&N deep filters from MSA... I think I'm lost. .
  9. Signed up a few days ago and paid my full registration through paypal yesterday. I received a "unpaid registration confirmation" a few days earlier, but have not gotten a confirmation through paypal after my payment. I hope I got in on the facility tour Are the tickets picked up at the location?
  10. Awesome! Bringing another Z back from the dead
  11. I second vice grips, had the same problem. Put a wrech (C-Wrench? The one that goes all the way around with a small opening) on the hard line, and a vice grip on the soft. Came off with easy. Good luck!
  12. Might want to contact esprist, I know he sells repro hoses. Not sure if they cover 75 280Z though. Goodluck!
  13. Sounds like a kid watching too much Wangan Midnite... Zed...
  14. Good luck with your project It definitely looks promisable! Hope there is not serious rust damage!
  15. It's been raining in the bay, but it looks like it's clearing up today! I'll try and take a few quick snap shots. If not, definitely by Saturday. Thanks for the complements Yep! The body shop told me it's actually not factory 904 Blue. The whole car was painted inside/out with a blue that's from a European car (they said a Talbot?). I'll be going to get a few samples/touch-up paint sometime soon. Thanks I'll think about it !
  16. Welcome! Good luck with the build and hope you have a rust-free experience.
  17. Thanks Diseazd, nothing compared to your beautiful cars though It actually already has original leather seat covers, the cushion on the driver seat is something to help my back . I will definitely consider a stock steering wheel though, it may be a little thin for my hands, and getting a series I steering wheel in worthy condition (no-hole) will be tough.
  18. They are Bridgestone Potenza.. I can't recall the model number at the moment, I'll check when I get home. =)
  19. Haha thanks for the complements guys, ya the steering wheel will definitely be removed. You shouldve seen the front plate design before I blacked it out. Straight up harley davison eagleish design.
  20. Just purchased my second Z yesterday. A few people in the Bay Area may have seen it before, as it was worked on at Z Car Garage a lot a few years back. My first Z, HLS30-05998 will be up for sale soon. HLS30-11651 : 10/70 This was made to, and will be driven as a more modern Z. The following modifications: L28 Nissan Factory Remanufactured Engine (turbo block/head) - Currently 600 miles Triple Mikuni 44mm Carburetors Tokico Struts/Eibach Springs Pantronix Electronic Distributor 16x7 Panasport Wheels MSD Ignition MSA Front/Rear Strut Bar MSA Front Sway Bar Coated header with Borla Resonator and Strainless Steel Muffler All gauges were rewired And I'm discovering more at the moment Complete Restoration - 90% All Original Interior/Exterior With exception to the engine/suspension/brakes. Removing the license plate immediately.. haha Any comments appreciated!
