  1. I actually found mine floating on craigslist for $150 picked up. I'd recommend probably MSA or eBay. Their shipping is relatively low. I definately will paint mine, I'm just waiting till I have to do a whole paint job to save some money . Lemme look around, I might be able to find a cheaper airdam for you.
  2. Thank you, the explanation of why it looks like a series 2 is above
  3. Like I mentioned, I didn't really like the factory look, but your BRE-Style wing looks superb! Wish I could see it in person.. Thanks for the complements Arne, your car looks pretty as well!
  4. Yep, all four VINs match. Your talking about the airdam right? I think so too, for some reason.. by personal opinion, i feel like theres just too much emptiness with the factory valance.
  5. Congrats on the purchase, it is definately an unbelieveablr automobile
  6. Dan, I'll look at it when i get home tonight! Also for everyone who's asking, I already confirmed it is a Series 1. As someone mentioned earlier, the PO probaby got into an accident. But, the amount of evidence that it's a series 1 is much more than series 2 features, which is just a hatch and the holes in the pillars. To name a few things it has that is present on series I cars: Swiss cheese rear deck vertical heater vents tools/jack behind seat chrome coat hanger latch seat belts matching 4 VIN numbers 6/70 production and many more thanks to everyone for the kind comments!
  7. Few more things to come! Arizona Z Car BBK, Fronts only for now (4 Piston) Genuine Datsun JDM/Euro Spoiler with embossed platform for badge Special thanks to esprit for this, and showing me his beautiful 240Z! His site: http://jdm-car-parts.com/
  8. First mod done on 11/16/2009: With just my luck, the day after the car arrived it would not start. I searched the forums and found several factors that could have been the problem. The car always had to be jumped to start, so it looked like the problem lied within the alternator, external regulator or battery. I found that, with the correct adapter, many people upgraded their 60 watt 240Z alternators to 70watt 280ZX alternators. I purchased the adapter plug from MSA, and a working 1983 280ZX Turbo alternator off eBay for a total of $90. Also replaced the battery with a DieHard from Sears Auto. 12-13-09 Xenon Front Air dam Installation Part I The beauty at it's current state, after being detailed for the last 3 weeks! Detailing of the turn signal lights while they are off, before on the right, after on the left.. damn 38 years of neglection... 12-18-2009 Part II of Xenon Airdam Installation and a few goodies to go in! Lining this up was such a b*tch!
  9. Year & Model: 1970 Series I Datsun 240Z Color: 903 Blue Exterior, Black Interior Production Date: 6/70 VIN: HLS30-005998 Purchase Date: 11/01/2009 I always admired the Z for its slick curves and classy look. I searched for almost a year, patiently, before I found this beauty listed on craigslist located in Burbank, CA. I am the third owner of the car, and it had always been in California (note the original blue CA license plate). The car was always garaged, and besides some minor dents the car was MINT and rust-free. Only mods on the car at the time of purchase were a 280z 5spd Transmission and MSD Electronic Ignition. After a few days, many phone calls and e-mails with the owner, and a friend doing me a huge favor by scouting the car out, I finally decided to make the 5-6 hour trip down to Southern California from the Bay Area. I was originally going to drive her back up, but I got a stellar quote for only $325 to ship the vehicle back on a carrier to NorCal. I also felt the car was not safe to make the 250+ mile back due to tires and non-tuned SU carbs. After a few hours of price negotiations I paid the price I wanted to pay, and she was ready to be loaded up for a over night trip to my home. I snapped a few pics of the car loading. Pardon the crappy iPhone pics.
  10. welcome to the forum! post some pics!
  11. Glad to get a few people talkin together.. On that note, hope there'll be somethigs after winter!
  12. Had the exact same problem on my 240Z. I am not sure how many watts your 280Z alternator is, but my solution was purchasing a adapter from MSA, and a 280ZX 70 Watt Alternator (has a internal voltage regulator). It was still a little iffy, so I changed my non-leaking battery. Turns out it was just the battery, but it's good to have some new electric equipment on my car, in any case.
  13. Why on EARTH would you leave Indiana? haha.. well I can tell you one thing, the west coast is much more exciting these days. Having lived in California most my life, and spending 4 years at Purdue University in Indiana, I can vouch for that.
  14. Good to know that our cars can still hold up at the track. There are a few events I am interested in febuary, and i'm debating which car to take. you can wipe it! throw some anti-fog and your good to go!
  15. HLS30-005998 here. 6/70.. 903 Blue On the road =)
  16. I was looking at the exact same set up by Techno Toy actually. That would be awesome to see it in action. I actually work in Concord (Pleasant Hill, Contra Costa Blvd). I would love to participate or show up to one of the meets.. Besides bottoming out on gas, how did you car hold up at thunder hill? What kinda suspension/engine mods are on your car? I was thinking about tracking, but I don't really wanna make my car into a prune.
  17. nice lookin car you got there too andy, i like the old skool license plate frame .. ya im around the sj area a lot as well.. last south bay meet was my first, but it seems pretty cool.. not enough Z folks tho!
  18. Mark, actually I was there! if you look at the pics, I think I was the only 240Z that came before 10:30pm
  19. Oh, only 20 miles ish away from me.. nice to know someone else is doing a resto-mod. It'd be cool if a few people in the bay had a meet once in awhile. Haven't got a good chance to take a solid look at any other Z cars besides mine
