I have a buddy that is 6' 10" and he has commented my Z is one of the few cars he has ever been able to be comfortable in..
  4. My 71 came with two new ball joints, one was still in the box from Nissan, PN 40160-A8625. There were a ton of factory boxed parts in the car. Don't know if that number helps, but I am hopeful that when I get to that stage, these will be a drop in fit
  5. Welcome and keep us posted on your progress
  6. Wish it was closer, I would look at it for you. Some parts look great, others make me suspicious (Clean cars don't usually stay on the market very long)..
  7. Has anyone ever been able to find the correct decals for the Shelby centers? I have 2 sets, but they are getting quite faded..
  8. post some pic's when you are done so we can see how it works out..

Welcome to the board.. As for the distributor question, I don't know..
  10. do you have a unisyn to sync the carbs, and are you sure the nozzles are going all the way back up? I had a sticky set in my 72, and after warm-up, would have to open the hood and reach under each carb and push them back into place (and it ran like a champ after that). Also make sure that the nozzle adjusters are set evenly, as well as your needles (and do the needles match, check the number).

okay - time for some more pics.. As things get more organized these will start to become better in order and will cover what aspect of the project we are working on. My Daughter has officially signed on to be the helper on this car, and she will be the eventual owner..
  12. Looks great in both photos. I do have another unrelated question though. Is that a 67 bug behind it in the MSA photo?

All great ideas. I think I am going to try to find some panels to use the retrobrite stuff on though, just to see how it works out. Could prove interesting. Anyone have a panel they want to send of some sort - otherwise it's off to see what I can find at a pick-n-pull

Both of my cars are factory black, but after looking at some of the pictures I am wondering if some retrobrite would help for some of these panels. I have mixed up a batch with pretty good results. Works wonders for old computer parts.. link http://retr0bright.wikispaces.com/ http://www.psfk.com/2009/03/retrobrite-open-source-problem-solving.html
  15. Unlimited, one of each year =) With all but my Current 72 redone in 920, and an extra 72 in 920..
  16. 1) uh - no.. 2) hard to say without seeing it in person, but does look a little odd 3) The factory problems about location, as long as it isn't noisy, drive it - location based diff problems were fixed by 73. 4) Ask around if someone near the car and/or you can look at it in person..

They look great, AND I paid good money for you to pimp my Savana. Plasma's, waterfalls, PS3, V12, FAB-9 and Daytons. I will be in on Tuesday to pick it up.. Don't even see the Astro you mention..

will follow up with some pic's hopefully later today.. Due to a change in the family financial situation, it will be a slow restoration/modification. We are fortunate to have a good base to start from, and to save as much as possible, we (me and my 2 children) will be spending a lot of time at the buffing wheel and dremel tools doing detail work. Next payday will be the purchase of a small parts soda blasting cabinet and medium size parts washer. We are going to start from the back, and work our way forward (this way we can get the spindle pins, etc out of the way. I was surprised when I got the car and began pressure washing everything that most of the paint markings on the suspension pieces were still in tact. Going to have to photograph that and repaint them when complete. What I really love about project cars is some of the most fun work you can do for free (I.E. Polish diff cover) and a can of black paint is reasonable enough. I have access to some powder coating gear too. Goals for this weekend is to get the back half of the car up on stands and evaluate what to do next. most likely the first thing I will be pulling will be the half shafts and ordering new boots/U Joints.
  19. I THINK I know what you are asking. Going to have to wait for it to warm up first to see if I am correct though. If I can when I look, I will grab some pics in to make this thread a little more on the spot..
  20. Ultimately, I will agree. I have had many a bushing pressed in for free, picked up lug nuts and washers, cotter pins and several other small parts over the years by being "cool" to the folks at the tire shop. Every once in a while I will drop off a 18 pack or two at the end of the work day..
  21. and it gives you the chance to look at the brushes, etc while you are in there (if you oare so inclined). Take your time and the whole piece will look great
  22. it's really going to depend on how you are shooting it (or if you are going to brush it on). Are you stripping the car first (soda, media, chemical)? be sure your starting surface is as clean and dry as possible, and if you spray, make sure your air is as dry as you can get it. I hope you get the results you are looking for. I would be hesitant to do the entire car with that type of stuff, but that's just me
  23. what if it just wasn't your taste of meat?
  24. you might want to talk to your supplier and see if they have a recommendation. it all depends on how many coats you are planning to apply (and from what I am reading, shooting it through a gun can be a bit tricky)
