I found a close match for the bottom portion of the symbol; the English interpretation for that portion is winter. In another symbol group it looks like part of the phrase for Safe Driving." I've been too busy fighting rust to translate it myself.

2nd Owner. Acquired in September 2015. Looking at it since 2007. Hasn't been on the road since 2001. And that drive put it in a ditch...Needs a little love.

Well, thanks guys, glad to know I'm not crazy. Anal, overly protective of the Z-Car, maybe. But not crazy. Nothing to be done now but move on...speaking of which...have to add a Z to my signature...

I'll put the car on stands this weekend and look the arms over, and try to chase down the clunk, which may or may not be related. Just a bummer.

OK Z community...had a new set of tires installed today and the shop lifted my 280z by the control arms, front and rear. I called them on it, citing the front cross-member, differential, rockers, even chassis rails, as a better lifting point...was told I was wrong. Now there is a new clunk over bumps, and wandering steering.

Most effective change or modification - fun list ?
Wheels and Tires. Going to 15x7 Konig Rewind Wheel with a 205/60 Tire transformed the way the car handles and looks.

Back in Washington, can't work on my Z...
That's a pretty cool setup, BlackGold. Will keep that in mind just for the access to a lift...until I build my dream garage, that is. Short-term, for bigger stuff, I can use my brother's place up in Bellingham, but I'm hoping to find something closer to home for general maintenance...will probably go the storage locker route for now...I've seen a lot of nice Z's in the neighborhood already, was hoping (naively?) some Yakima Z owners would be on this site and would exchange some occasional shop/driveway space for a sixer or something...swap stories, talk about how cool our cars are, etc...I'm pretty good with the Z's, could even help someone with their own projects...

1978 Datsun 280Z purchased in 2002, at a ST Vincent De Paul thrift store in Eugene Oregon. Driven all over the country ever since, restored once in my care. Ready for another paint job and interior...and maybe a more interesting engine.

Back in Washington, can't work on my Z...
Howdy Z-folks, I've been off and on the site for a lot of years now. I've owned my 280Z for over 13 years, gotten to know every nut and bolt on it, a few times, in some cases. Needless to say, I prefer to do my own wrenching. I just moved to Yakima, WA, and signed a six-month lease on a place where I can't work on my car...anyone out there know of any shops or garages that rent space nights/weekends for light maintenance/projects? No lift or anything needed, this is my daily driver, and I won't be disassembling anything I -hopefully- can't reassemble pretty quickly...I know I'm overdue on an oil-change, but happy to report that after driving 3800 miles cross-country(scenic route) I didn't use a drop...Anyhow, looking for some shop or garage space on the cheap. Thanks

[2015] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?
Spent too much on MSA for next week's projects, then removed and greased half-shafts, removed driveshaft and replaced trans output shaft seal, topped off fluid, bled brakes, and then went for a drive. Z is coming out of hibernation well.

Anyone Running The Taylor Sst Shielded Spark Plug Wire Set?
http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic11k/12-3901 As soon as it warms up I'm diving into maintenance, tune-up, etc, and prep for a cross-country drive in the Z (just like old times.) If I'm changing plug wires I might as well dress it up a bit, right? The Taylor sheathed wires seem made for my engine bay, shown below, anyone buy them and wish they hadn't? I've looked around Taylor's website but can't find any instructions online, and was wondering where the ground connections are made...thanks.

Kia Sportage weatherstip rocks!
For the princely sum of $5 I got 9 pieces of Kia weatherstripping. I found that the rear passenger Sportage door seals work on the Z driver and passenger doors, and the front Sportage seal works on the Z hatch, having a few inches left over in both cases. The doors and hatch all close nicely with a good seal 'crush' all around. Hoping this is a good first step in eliminating some fumes...After being picky and discarding a couple pieces I shouldn't have bothered with, I have enough to redo the car when I need to. Fun cheap project, thank you to all for showing the way. From left, Original Driver Side, Ten Year Old Black Dragon Replacement, and Kia Sportage. When I replaced the passenger side years ago I was also painting a fender, so I scuffed and shot the inside bead to kinda match the original piece. It held up well, was never noticed, or mentioned, so eventually I'll find a better color and do the same to the Kia stuff when I repaint the car.
