  1. I know this car. It is based out of Temecula California (about 20 miles northeast of me). I have seen it at MSA and know the girl that owns it (as an aquaintance). This car is not my style, but has been nicely done and is reasonably well put together. I doubt it will get big numbers...I would say 6 to 10k best...
  2. Other than formula one cars that have a tiptronic style transmission. I know you would be better off with a 5spd. There is an option for a sequential transmission that would be very trick (read expensive). If you are talking about the stock Z transmission, you would be better off autocrossing a tractor...

So in this case "we" would want the "Big Dog"...not the little dog.
  4. IF there are any racing parts. 4.6 gearsets, LSD's, Dog leg transmissions let me know. Thanks,

There are dogleg transmissions that will fit your Z but expect to spend some serious coin for one.
  6. Sorry to hear of your missfortune. With some experience on the track I know it can be tough to choose where to stick in your nose...In this case it did not go well.... Best of luck getting your Z squared away prior to next season.

Rob's a great guy and unbelieveable Datsun guy. I know Alvin, and a few other customers of Rob's. He is a really funny, good guy who has had a few bumps in the road but seems to be doing well now.
  8. texasz, the "trick" is the support to replace the front swaybar mount with a plate that mounts to the top of the frame rail, two crush tubes that go through the frame rail to a support plate on the bottom of the frame rail. Buy a PDK brace and you will have all the parts you need for this mod. For pic's you can go to my gallery with some of the early pics of the strut bar installation. I would suggest calling PDK and telling them how you feel about their site. I mentioned it the other day when I spoke to Mark. Ron
  9. 240zman, I know the guys at PDK, the bar in question is a top end performance bar.
  10. The PDK bar, although it is a more complicated installation, will strengthen the entire front unibody of the car. We used an old racer trick on the front swaybar mount to improve the structual strength of that section of the frame rail. With this modification your unibody car will hold up to spirited driving a lot longer.
  11. Mikuni 50's only come in the "old style" dual screw jet cover configuration and the bodies of these carbs are made of magnesium. They look completely different...and are not what is pictured above. I have a set of tripple 50's and will look for stampings on them if you wish, but a cursory glance will tell you if you have 50's. In this case these are not 50's. The carbs in the photo by Brushie are 40's or 44's (since they both look the same). To be sure measure the back or bottom of the bore diameter (in millimeters) that will give you the correct size of these carbs.

  13. Good Luck.
  14. Will, thanks I am closely tied to the guys at PDK the strut bar deisign is our collaboration. There have been discussions of the pop up thing before and I guess I am over sensitive to the situation. Mark and Mark at PDK are great fabricators and have done excellent work on three of my Datsun race cars. They are fast, efficient and tallented. They did all the fabrication on my Z car and did a brilliant job. I know their capabilities and I wanted to make a point that their product deserved a better look even though the "package" (their website) was not that good.
  15. Will, their choice for hosting was anything but my suggestion. You are entitled to your opinion. I dont disagree with you, at the end of the day it was their decision not mine. As far as the strut bar, well there is a HUGE difference, look past their website and look at the engineering that went into their solution and you will see the value. The adjustment was added after manufacturing many bars and finding no two cars were alike. This solution does not have to be removed to adjust the valves, this system ties into the swaybar mounts to protects from damaging the framerails with an oversized swaybar. This system trianglates into the firewall and works very effectively for a bolt on solution, and it is modular. There are many people who have purchased this bar an have noticed quite a difference.
  16. Cethern, you can look at my gallery on this site and see what Mark has done with cars that have camber plates. If you are installing racing camber plates I would suggest a weld in solution instead of a bolt in. Will, I know that PDK receives no benefit from the popups on their site. The site is free and they are a small organization that works on a thin margin. This is a truely hand made product and works well. I hope you can look beyond the popup issue and see the quality in the product they offer. That being said, most if not all of us have pop up blockers, I had forgottten that they even were there.
  17. The PDK fabrication bar for the front works much better and is adjustable and removable.

That is not advertised as VIN #00001 but the add is limited and odd.
  19. An IMSA Body Kit done correctly.

Yeah, I would block this sender. Simple and effective.

Perhaps the Term is restomod? whatever. There are a short list of Z purists and I am sure that Carl Beck knows all of them. Don't worry about some smuck that is looking for an arguement. I must say you are facing a difficult decision. I personally would not suggest the 911, but it is your choice...now a Lotus Elise...hmm tough choice.

Wow, nice car, sorry to see it go away. I hope you find a good home for your car.

Welcome, welcome. I am sure you will find a wealth of information on this site.
  25. Montezuma you should have told me you were going to be up here.... I live and work just a few miles from Les's shop. I would have stopped by to say hi. Glad to hear that Les was able to help you. He does really great work and really works hard to provide that extra bit that sets him apart from his competition. Your right, my Z is at Les's shop at the moment. I wanted to get a few things done prior to taking it up to the JCCS show on the 30th.
