  1. Can you tell me how much these wheels weigh? thanks.
  2. okay, to nitpick... Its a 73, its an automatic, it has a nastly looking hood. Is it worth 10k? I think its a good deal, if you want an automatic.
  3. well that is always nice to see
  4. Hi Art, I sent you a PM with an update on the 510. My cars are available at your convenience.
  5. obviously the magazine will need to stay profitable, and that will be done by looking for the largest reading base. That will be the guys with the new cars. Are you worried about keeping the base of S30 readers? Or are you looking to widen the scope of the magazine thus create a larger target market? My suggestion would be to remember where you came from, and look at where you are going, and do the best you can.
  6. This is very sad news indeed. Carl our thoughts a prayers are with you!

I have many friends who have painted their helmets, although I have not yet... Most people I talk to airbrush them with two stage paint. Ron

Interesting car...A little T&C and it would be a great Vintage racer or Autocross car again. Tholt29 do you know what he has for a trans in this car, he indicated custom gearing....is it a quaiffe sierra trans? BTW, is this guy Corky Bell?
  9. Glad to see JM made it out to your event! Hope to see you guys at Monterey.
  10. I have a matching set of adjustable front and rear bars for a 280Z that I removed from a retired BSP 280Z. These swaybars are used Arizona Z swaybars with endlinks. I would like to sell them because I went with a tubular adjustable front bar and matching rear swaybar on my 240Z. Let me know if your interested via PM.

I am assuming you are referring to the swaybar mount that goes down to the top of the frame rail from the strut tower. If they are that far off, you can weld up the holes and redrill them or open up the holes a little based on your swaybar position. It does make a very large difference in the way the car handles.

  15. nice car, It would make a very nice restoration project.
  16. Goertz designed the Silvia based off the Roadster platform and a design project with Yamaha that probably became the Toyota 2000GT. Goertz did not design the 240Z. If you look closely at that early Silvia you will see Goertz written all over it. The Z on the other hand may have pulled some styling ques off the Silvia, but it is not a Goertz design. There is tons of documentation regarding this matter...and you are entitled to your opinion, but it is not the truth. As for what car, I think the purity of the early Z, in it's design and basic function is outstanding. I enjoyed driving my 93 300ZX more than my street 240Z for its refinement and comfort.
  17. Magnaflow sponsored our vintage race group a few years ago. Good guys interested in vintage racing...and vintage cars.

Um, okay there is one photo in your gallery and it is not really a detail photo.... So is it a Stick or Automatic? How many miles 276k from what your photo post says?...Has it ever been in an accident? Help me out 72240Z...you have a nice car, but I still cant tell what you have...or even guess at a value.
  19. Panasports are available in gunmetal, I guess that MSA is not offering them anymore. You can order them thru Les Cannaday at Classic Datsun 760-940-6365. I ordered and received a set from Les for my 510 project. R
  20. The machined lip on a darker car will stand out better and look better. Although on most cars I prefer Wats. painted, this is the exception to the rule.
  21. Ron Carter replied to 72240Z's post in a topic in Open Discussions
your still too vague, is it a stick or auto? what color combo, how many miles etc. If you want an idea of what it is worth you need to provide more details along with photos. To get the top end of your money scale listed above, the car will need to be all there and very original, low miles and in much better than average condition.
  22. Yes, you are correct...Classic Datsun would not be able to really help you.
  23. There is always Classic Datsun too. www.classicdatsun.com Les Cannaday has parts for Roadsters and 240Z's.
  24. Yeah, you know I am not sure I am qualified...Ron Johnson, or Carl Beck might be a better author. Would I collaborate if they asked, of course... There are so many discrepancies, opinions, and differences between the members of the BRE race team that it would be very difficult on getting the story right...There are still disagreements about what happened to the original #46 Z. There is the Stainless Steel Carrot, written by Silva Wilkinson that paints one picture of the BRE race team when they raced 510’s. What I find very interesting, is over time I have had most of the BRE race team look at or drive my car. Each one of them has looked closest at the parts they were involved with. John Caldwell really looked over the motor and mentioned some of the little tricks that they did to get longevity out of the motor , Pete Brock, examined the whole car, but commented primarily how it looked. John, spoke of how it drove, and some of the details of the cockpit, and showed me a few suspension modifications that they used in 1970. Floyd Link looked at the motor and asked about drivetrain. Trevor Harris was thrilled to see the car (or a representation of the car) and asked about the suspension set up. It would be great to get these guys together at the National Z convention in 07.
  25. After doing all the research and building a replica of the car, I can say a lot of work went into the design and development of the BRE race cars. Quite a bit of the work that was done was not included in the magazine, as the car was still being raced competitively at the time that the magazine was printed.
