  1. Sorry Ed, present company excluded okay!?
  2. 12k will get you a really nice race motor....then you just have to buy / build the rest of the car.
  3. And it is a 73 which is the least desirable 240z also...
  4. Simple clean and to the point....Let them know what your driving after you have passed them
  5. I think it is good that we are seeing an increase in value of our marque although this car is truely misplaced. This car has clearly been repainted, you can see a color change on one of the front shock towers. In original condition, a 72 and earlier with correct parts (under the hood) and the engine compartment as clean as the exterior it might be worth a little less than they are asking. To me this looks like a $6k car in its current condition.

I can understand your frustration. I bought my 70 with the understanding that it had been hit at the front passenger side wheel and had been repaired correctly. When I got to seriously looking at the car for a resotration. It was a mess....It was very hard for me to part with this Z, but I did it and found a really clean chassis with a blown motor for $1k. Sold enough of the stock parts off this donor car to pay for the chassis and started from there. These things can be done afforably, if your patient. If you can't wait, do what you can. R

Fixing damage like this is risky on a 30 year old car. I would suggest inspecting the frame rail back and underneath the floor pan for any crinkling where the frame rail has been pushed back into the body as well. Track down someone who has experience with these cars, or foreign cars at least. Repairs can run from a few hundred to a $1k+. Be sure that who ever is pulling out the damage has dimentions of the original car. Since this car is 32 years old it is likely that most shops will not have the correct measurements and you will need to supply them with that information. Finally, be sure that this is the chassis you want to restore. I had a 70 that I was going to restore originally, and elected to buy a replacement chassis instead. To do a full restoration, you will want to start with a good foundation.

les Cannaday of Classic Datsun sells them, they are not a dealer option that I am aware of. Les Cannaday 760-940-6365
  9. What Car are you bringing down? I have a good friend flying down from Pleasant Hill...
  10. Having driven both cars, the 350 and the TT I can say that they feel the same in the drivers position. Small low windows, sqat profile to the cars. The TT has a windshield that stands up a little more than the z. There are some styling differences but to be both cars look like oversized bull frogs with wheels.
  11. you're probably right, I would look for a vacuum leak first.
  12. George, I saw that car in person...it was just okay.
  13. Nissan experemented with a retro style that was just plain ugly...Too many compromises. I thought that they should look to the current Aston Martin / Jaguar for styling, not unlike the original car. A sleek supercar that is affordable. The current 350Z is to clunky and fat looking. I prefer the G-35 to the 350Z...

Alan & Carl, Can you take your flame inducing diatribe off line please. You guys can kindly disagree, and discuss this, but this is getting out of hand. I feel like I am reading a script from American Chopper. Please show some restraint and manors. Thank you.

I stand corrected, Torsen Gleasen not Borg Warner...Oops.
  17. Ron Carter replied to Juiced's post in a topic in Suspension & Steering
Yes the Quaife is a mechanical LSD, Borg Warner made a gear type LSD as well... Juiced, Contact PDK Fabrication in Oceanside.

For a drag car wouldnt you be better off with a live rear axle!? Most guys i know will narrow a ford 9" or equivelant. If you are still looking to stay with a relatively stock solution I would suggest an R-200 with a Quaiffe LSD.
  19. There are a few Vintage racers here...

Glad you liked it...It was quite a job to get everything together for the photo shoot. It seemed as though things were not going to come together and then in the last minute it all came together....My BRE will be appearing in Sport Compact Car in the near future as well with John Morton at the wheel. My hat is off to the staff at Sports Car Intl. they did a first class job, and are great guys to work with. R
  21. Chino, I think I am going to be out of the state on vacation, but if I am around, I will definately be there!! Got to see what this bad boy will do!! Victor, it would be fun to get my Roadster and Clemme's roadster together for a photo op. Any idea if he is going to Solvang? R
  22. It just got delivered today!! here are a few pictures!! http://www.classicdatsunracing.classicdatsun.com/RC_2000.html
  23. Having a rare set of calipers is great, however these are heavy and not your best performance solution. Most vintage groups on the west coast will let you run Toyota calipers because they are roughly equivelant to the FIA calipers.

I know that someone was selling sets on ebay about a year ago, but I would look to Les Cannaday at Classic Datsun or Designproductsracing.com (DP Racing) for a set. Les's number is 760-940-6365. Let Les or Don know that I referred you please.

This is all the stuff that is on the car now...had the steering knuckles for years. A little research and you should be able to find a set... I think at one point I had two sets, but the second set is long gone now.
