Post WW II there were many impressionable GI's returning from Europe who enjoyed driving quaint little sport cars from europe, which started a trend in the US in the early 50's. By the early 70's this same group were into other, more luxurious cars, and the current offerings from "England" could not compete with the Japanese invasion which had begun in the mid 60's. The early 70's ushered in smog laws and new safety laws in the USA that also contributed heavily to the demise of the Brittish automotive invasion. Remember those nasty looking 5MPH bumpers on an MGB.

Gayle and Peter are very quick to respond, as long as they are not traveling. Email is the best format. I am sure that you will get the number you want unless you want #46 or #300 or the numbers listed above that have been taken already. I have to think that 85, 35, 44, and 45 should be popular as they are all BRE car numbers. 70 and 71 for the year of the national championships would probably also be very popular.

Very Cool! I have one of the original posters, and I paid a lot more for it than what BRE is charging for their recreation.
  5. FHTOM, Thanks for your kind words. A couple of things regarding the video, the guy in the Devin special was moved down into our group, and should have run in the big bore cars. His Devin, does not handle well (or is not set up well) and the driver, leaves a lot to be desired. I suspect that the Devin was actually sent down to run with the small bore cars because he was so slow, and not a good driver... As for the Z, Hector and I have had several close races at California Speedway. Hector asked to be moved out of Group 3 into group 2 so that he could run with us, and he was allowed to do so. I regret the Devin being in our group, but not Hector, and we need to be fair to all parties... In the entire Video, the Devin came up from the back of the pack to catch me and blocked me for 80% of the race, slowing down my lap times and making it all but impossible to catch Hector early on, then he got ahead of Hector and Hector had the same problem. Hector and I passed the Devin several times only to have him pass us in the next short straight...Hector as you can see in the video missed the proper set up for his tire pressures and at the end of the race wound up with a very slick car, that he could not keep on the track. This event is the closest call I have had, as I thought Hector was going to swing back around and collect my driver side front fender. Fortunately he did not... Ron
  6. it works fine...what are you looking to do with your car?

  8. Interpart, which was formerly BRE sold this style kit. Many have copied it. This is not what was on the BRE 240Z road race cars.
  9. I did not see the photos. But, I would think it is VERY difficult to tell the size of the wheel from a photo. If they are the larger wheels, or if the guy sold them because they did not fit, then I would suggest talking to Carl as I know he is looking for at least one wheel and probably would buy the entire set just to have a few spares sblake01 I would refer to my original comment: "If these fit a roadster they are the smaller width LeMans Wheels."
  10. If these fit a roadster they are the smaller width LeMans Wheels. They are a 6" width wheel, and not the ones that Carl is looking for. The 7" Le Mans wheels will not clear the roadster fenders and leaf springs in the rear. Even so, they are substantially more valuable than what you paid for them, as I sold a set of roadster 6" LeMans wheels two years ago for 3X what you paid for those. For a street car, any mag wheel is going to be a hassle to care for. I have 7" American LeMans wheels on my Z, Magnesium Libra's on my 510 and a set of American Silverstone Magnesium wheels for my roadster. It is virtually impossible to keep these rims looking good, unless you polish them on a weekly basis, and I live in a dry climate. Getting caught out in a single rain storm will will equate to hours of polishing. Three years ago when it rained at the MSA show, my Z with the LeMans wheels clouded up instantly when they got wet. So I guess my point is, that it is cool to have these wheels in a capacity that they are uncommon, and rare. But better suited to the guys restoring cars that will not be driven on a regular basis, and definitely not driven in the rain....
  11. Strnge, could you elaborate on your statement above. Your friend has the original BSR 610 or did he buy the backup car that was just up for sale? It sounds like the original is going to get restored, what condition is it in now? Do you have any photos by chance. Thanks, Ron

Well this is designed as a race car part, and you don't need either a glove box or factory air vents for that application. Also, adding those parts adds an additional amount of difficulty to making the part that is not important for a race application. If you look at the first post, the guy is trying to fabricate off of a dash cover for what appears to be a race car. There have been a couple of folks that have modified this dash to work for their street cars, and have added vents etc. It depends on what you want to do. Keep in mind that I never said it was a direct replacement, rather a race part...the option to use it on the street is up to you...

That is one solution, and a viable one. There is a fiberglass racing dash available for sale currently. PDK Fabrication has offered one them for sale for the last 3+ years. I have one in my car. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=7635&ppuser=932 Ron
  14. Panchovisa, good to hear from you! it has been a long time. I read the article today (this afternoon) as a matter of fact and this is the backup car you are correct. It was the mule that the original car was built from and now is a vintage racer. It has no racing history however...So it is not an $80k car. As I said before it is a good deal if you like the car. I think that I have seen it for sale other than on ebay for some time now for around $35k. R PS Pancho, if you look at recent photos of my roadster you will find the vintage seat you sent to me a few years back installed on the passenger side of my Roadster. It is a perfect (although heavy) period correct piece for my roadster and was required by HMSA to run in the Production class. Thanks Again!
  15. yes, it was last a Bondurant school car, from what I have heard, and it is a very very low serial number. R
  16. So this car was for display purposes only at Bob's dealership, it has been built up into a copy of an original BSR racer with all the correct parts. This is a "replica" of a BSR 610 racer, so the original racing BSR 610 is running around some place. This is a time machine and a cool car, but it is not historically significant. Even still, it is a good value, especially compared with what you can invest in order to get a 510 on the track.
  17. Hi Paul, I think you will find this site interesting.... http://designproductsracing.com/Z_Suspension1.html
  18. This is an interesting car, but it has no racing history. See the description below from the Ebay add: "Perhaps the most amazing part of this car is the original pearl white, candy apple red and blue paint job. Because this car was never used in competition and spent much of its time in dealer showrooms, the original paint still looks fantastic! This is probably the only Bob Sharp race car still in its original paint. Up close it has the patina of a 36 year old lacquer paint job, but thanks to an extensive preservation procedure it looks brand new from a few feet away and it is protected from UV rays so you can drive it without worrying about the sun!" So this is a Bob Sharp show car, that looks like a race car. Could you race it in vintage today, absolutely! is it a good value. Absolutely, if you like the car.
  19. Thanks for the great video!! Your Z car looks good...I think that you are running ITS, what does that allow you to run for tires? and what are you using. Can you modify your suspension? if so how much? What can you run for a gearbox and Diff? It seems that there was a lot of space between your gearing that could be adjusted with the right gear combination. I like the line you were running in your last video as it looked much smoother faster than the low line you ran early on. Glad to see that there are others out there driving their Datsun's on the track!! Ron
  20. glad you guys enjoyed it! TomoHawk, the lateral and longitudinal G's are a nice feature. Hoyttech's G Box is really helpful. It also turns on and off the video camera.
  21. Thanks Jerry!
  22. Hi Craig and Cindy! Hey I miss you guys, hope that the Yellow Chino Z makes it out to the track soon!! Hi Carl, We experimented with a 4.62 gearset this time, and it should be better, faster than the 4.38. It was absolutely roasting hot out at Cal Speedway, so we were 3 to 4 seconds a lap slower than normal out there. The "trick" as it were, is to get the right gear set up for ones motor. Since I have a fairly mild cam I can only go so far. So gearing choice is essential. I am running a Ultra Close Roadster 5spd so going into the hair pin you can see me shifting into first gear at 45+ mph. I am still not sure if the 4.38 or 4.62 is better because the track conditions were so much different than the last time I was out there with the 4.38's. Best, Ron
  23. Good luck Pablo. Video is always good even if you don't post it, it's great to see what you do well and what you didn't...A great learning experience. R
  24. Hector and I are good friends and I am giving Hector the thumbs up and pointing my index finger at him for a great race as he almost drafted past me coming up onto the banking towards the start/finish line. Along with being a great Artist Hector is a heck of a driver, and a gentleman. When he overshot the corner and came back onto the track he waived me by (you might just be able to see it in the video). I have the utmost respect for Hector and this is the second time in 3 years that we have finished within a couple hundredths of a second at California Speedway. What you don't see is that it took me 5+ laps to catch Hector and then the last two to pass him. It was a great race, and Hector came over and congratulated me right after the race, as I congratulated him too for a great race. Hector has vowed to get me back next year! Ron
  25. Here is the last lap and a half from California Speedway last weekend (June 08), from my video camera in my roadster. Hector Cademartori and I had another epic battle as you will see below! Enjoy! Next to the Views display on the bottom right of the video is a link where you can click on "watch in high quaility". I recomend it, only because the video is so much better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zM-AdSBYz9Q
