Z Hillclimbing Video
There is lots of great Datsun footage if you know where to look. It has prompted me to run an in car camera in the roadster. Here are a few clips. The Z in front of me (until the very end, where I pass him) is none other than Hector Cademartori, the artist who painted the Zeal painting a couple years ago. Not only is Hector a great artist he is a tallented driver too, and has raced his Z successfully for many years! The beginning of the race: http://youtube.com/watch?v=9Sr2ePl0OD0 The finish line: http://youtube.com/watch?v=isqDH4UrViI Some other great datsun footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMrF6EPmXL0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sd4XRMyB6Wg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4qGnEgkmek

BRE 46 Replica featured in Sport Compact Car
the pics were taken over 18 months ago...and a few things have been done to the car since then...we redid the headlight covers that fit better.... Other than that, the car is pretty much the same. It was a real honor to have John drive my car.....

How to ruin a good car...
What can you say. I have seen worse, but not much worse. Someone has gone to a lot of trouble to build this car. Is it possible that this car could do 150MPH? I seriously doubt it. Is this a race car...um, no.

2007 Z Car Convention in Daytona
My understanding is that Mr. K is not planning on attending any more functions in the USA. Even though he has made significant efforts to make it to the National Convention in the past. This is what Jonnie Gable (Mr. K's secretary) told me last year. Has this changed?

2007 Z Car Convention in Daytona
As an interested party who wants to drive his race car at both Sebring and Daytona. I am looking for other individuals interested in sharing the cost of a transport truck to pull cars across the country and back. From Southern California for this event. This would be an opportunity to have your car hauled across the country in an enclosed, insured hauler for the show or the two race days involved with the National convention. To the Moderators and organizers, is there a chance that Nissan will provide some form of transport for cars coming over from Japan? Is there a group of Japanese cars coming over this year to the convention? If so how does Nissan plan to move these cars across the country? Next, Since we are talking about a Semi truck, this would be perfect advertising for this event. A semi with your Banner would be parked in a location for the duration of this event in a conspicuous location with lots of interesting cars loaded in and out of it. If you are interested please contact me, Ron Carter

What did your holidays bring your Z?
Christmas brought 75 degree weather here in San Diego. Since my car is done, and safely put away in the garage.. ...There was nothing from Santa.... It's wierd not to have a list of things that need to be done...

Best Camcorder for "in car" Video?
Victor I use a tape type video machine and an IO port mount that works well. Bullet cams work better because they have less mass and are less likely to shake because of less mass on the camera mount. There are several machines that have an AUX input that will allow you to remotely mount your camera and have the bullet cam in a location where a standard camera would not go.

A sign of things to come for vintage Datsuns?
Don't know what issue yet, this has been a start/stop thing with SCC for the better part of a year now. I think it will be in the next 3 to 6 months. I will let you know more when they respond to me.

Top End Performance triangulated rear strut bar...
Hi Carl (and everyone else). Yes, I have seen that tab before! I am assuming that is the cage that came in your car...the tube diameters look spot on correct. Can't wait to see your car done. When do you think you think the car will be unvailed to the public? OT: Carl I was over to Les's recently and saw Adam Corrola's roadster and understand that Les is making cushions for your seat (and my seat). Will that effect the cost of the seat we are making? we should probably talk about this off line. Drop me a PM when you can.

Top End Performance triangulated rear strut bar...
That looks good Jon. my bar is above the strut towers, attached to the roll cage and doubles as a seatbelt connection point.

240Z Registered for Barrett-Jackson 2007
Wow DougN, I didn't think classic showcase was around anymore...I thought they had closed up and gone away. I guess, since they are in my back yard I could go take a look, but why.... Bobc thanks for the update. I guess I knew the previous owner.

Top End Performance triangulated rear strut bar...
Okay Jon, in all fairness I have not driven an early Z without a rollbar in some time. As a matter of fact I haven't driven an old Z car without a rollbar, drivingsuit, helmet etc. I think you know me well enough that I spend more time on the track in a datsun than on the street. Where I agree that the rear bar will help eliminate some shifting in the body of the car, I don't think that the rear bar transfers that much to the handling charactoristics of the vehicle. So to correct my statement above. It makes a difference, just not a big one. If you are looking for major improvements install the PDK front bar solution.
-
Top End Performance triangulated rear strut bar...
Daniel, the answer is pretty simple. The rear section of our cars is pretty strong. the strut supports roof line all go to support the rear suspension section of our cars. The rear strut bar although nice to look at does very little to support the handling of our cars as the rear body section of these cars is well supported. The front bar, on the other hand is not, and that is where you will see a significant change in handling charactoristics. PDK makes a rear bar because there was so much demand for them to "match" the front bar. Can you say marketing!

What 240Z Design elements would you like to see in the new Z?
Agreed Will, the current Z has great performance. So it is the "prince" that would be a frog...

What 240Z Design elements would you like to see in the new Z?
I am thinking that something like a Aston Martin DB9S with some slightly different styling que's would be the way to go. The current Aston looks like an upgraded 240 /280Z platform. Install a nice reliable fast Nissan powerplant with plenty of torque and your set. When the first 240Z's came out they looked like the Ferrari 250GT's why can't Nissan step up with a car that looks like a supercar, instead of a frog.
