  1. yeah somewhere around those numbers would be fair
  2. Based on the photo you sent, I would say $400 for the set if they are 14 x7

Can you be more specific? are you talking about the front timing cover? perhaps a photo would clarify too.
  4. We can hope that it comes close to those numbers....
  5. since we are showing pic's on a tile floor....
  6. Yep, that is Jere Stahl's website, he makes a very nice header.

  8. Panchovisa is right, about 2.25 tubes for $500.00 I spoke to Jere Stahl some time ago and am buying one of his headers for my FIA 510 project. Jere, who has been building race headers forever builds about the best product for a Datsun you can get, short of a completely custom solution.... So, do you want to "look" cool or be fast?
  9. I am sure it is, but the cost involved would be prohibitive. I know Mr. Brock pretty well, and I a sure I could get licensing from him to do this, so they would be true "BRE" headers. But this design is VERY hard to reproduce and I assure you there would be no way to get 50 orders to make them, thus make them reasonably priced to reproduce. These headers were so difficult to make that BRE sold a different design (manufactured by Cyclone) over the counter to racers back in the day. So unfortunately it is not having them reproduced, there is no way to make them affordable enough by producing enough of them to make financial sense. I have gone down this path, with the fiberglass Z car race dashes, and you can't sell enough of them to break even.
  10. Hi Olie, Good questions.... I would have to refer to Pete Brock on your questions above. I would think that this design is "older" technology, and that current designs by Jere Stahl might be a better solution, and significantly more affordable, but not as unique looking. You see I dont have a benchmark for this header solution. This is a replica and therefore I did not do extensive testing with this header, (as accuracy to the original car was more important). I would think that a current design with a stepped header would perform better than the BRE header from a performance standpoint. Gerry Mason, has been very successful running this header in vintage events on his original BRE car though, and I think that you could say that this header performs well, it is an equal length header with long primary tubes. I know that Gerry has used this design on his current tube frame race car as well and his car did very well at the runoffs two years ago. I hope that helps....Again please let me know if you have any more questions.
  11. olie05, I see you have found a picture of my header. This is a copy of the original BRE header designed by Peter Brock. I can tell you all about it...what would you like to know? Feel free to PM me. Kmack I wish this header was only $500 bucks...It was custom made by the only guy that has an original BRE header and sadly cost a bit more than your estimate. Ron

Alan, This is in deed, sad news. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. I would like this to serve as a reminder that these "original" Datsun enthusiasts are getting to that age where this kind of thing is going to become common. I strongly suggest that we, the next generation of Datsun enthusiasts contact these pioneers, and take the time to listen and Document their stories. These guys, (the ones that are left) are living history, a history that can be lost if we don't take the time to pay attention to these few great people. These guys deserve this. It is their legacy, and our responsibilty.

I prefer ultrashield race seats in my race cars. They are size specific because of the large bolsters on the sides...They are very light and can be attached to the stock mounting locations for a street car. In our race cars it is necessary to attach them to a roll bar.

Hi guys, had to chime in on this one.... Hemmings Sports and Exotics uses the number #1 through #5 definition on cars that are sold at auction on a regular basis. I still have yet to see a published 240Z sold at auction, but I am sure it wont be long. Looking at the photos of cars that they published photos of I would say that there is a little more latitude in their numbering definition, but that is my opinion. To me I look at the collectability of a car based on its history. Race cars to me have the most colorful history and an original, well documented race car will fetch very large numbers at auction because they are very rare. But at car shows, race cars are frequently lumped into a "Modified Class" with every other street modified car. I would consider taking my Z to a ZCCA event if I thought it was eligible for a Gold Medallion, or gold cup award...It seems odd that the car show crowd snubs the race car crowd, at most shows there is not even a class for race cars. Of the many shows that I am aware of there are two that support the race car group in Southern California. The Japanese Classic Car Show, held in Long Beach and the Julian Classic Motoring Show, held in Julian California, which features race cars. www.julianclassic.com. And I think that is too bad... Carl I think that you are about to experience the same issues when you get your BRE Z out to the various Z shows...
