  1. I received mine a couple of days ago. Really looking forward to a great event!!
  2. Interesting, I have an Impact racing suit, from 2006, and it has been outstanding...I am due to replace my seatbelts, and will plan to go another direction with those. Thanks for the update. Sorry to see this kind of thing happen.
  3. Understand that you will never recover your investment, know that you are doing this for yourself and know that this is always going to be a 30+ year old car. None of us can tell you if you are going to be happy with this, and it sounds like you are not easily impressed. I enjoyed the journey of building my car, and I gain a lot of satisfaction when I drive it, and when I take it to car shows. It was worth it. I think it depends on what you want, and nobody here can tell you what that is. If you are not sure, buy a driver and drive it for a while, if the car makes you smile in a relatively stock configuration, I am sure you can the modify it to the point where you are very happy with the car. Ron
  4. Hi Dana, I am flattered. I would like to see more photos of your car, and I am sure that you"ll have it at the Mitty. From what I have seen you have done a very nice job with your tribute vehicle. Lowell, really fantastic to see so many original owners still driving their cars! It will be a pleasure and honor to meet you sir!
  5. I will be there Wednesday, through Sunday morning. Looking forward to meeting a few new folks and having a great time. The BRE 240Z will be ready to hit the track!! The Thursday night dinner will be really special, I have a little insight into the guests attending. It should be really something. See you guys there!!!

I will be hauling the car out to the Mitty this year for all to hear! There is a youtube video of my car out there as well: My BRE Trubite car has also been used in a video game called Dirt 2. We took it out to an abaondoned air field and ran it up and down the tarmac with 8 mic's attached all over the car. I suspect that you could find it on there somewhere. Ron

Hi Winny101, If you look at my last posting the old link is not working correctly. I have have a replacement for it. www.rcnetworksracing.com
  8. Hi Philip, Sorry to hear that you are going to miss the Mitty. It's going to be special. Gerry Sr. did campaign a 240Z prior to the blackburn car. I know that Gerry Jr. was/is planning on restoring it. My roadster is Gerry Sr.'s first Datsun racer. Best, Ron
  9. Great photos Philip! this looks to be the ex-Logan Blackburn car, that is the #3 BRE car?...I know that Gerry will be at the Mitty this year perhaps we can ask him then. Gerry Sr. Did have a 240Z that he built and campaigned, it could be that car also. I am not sure. Great shots all around, I will have to see if I can find my roadster as it raced at blackhawk farms a few times.
  10. I went to this event and it was epic. Brought my racing helmet and had it signed by almost all the guys there from Boris Said to Parnelli Jones. We had lunch with Peter Brock, John Morton and Mac Tilton prior to the event. Horst Kwech was great, gracious and still sharp as a tack. He admitted to altering his car to win at Laguna. 40 years later, and that was quite a bombshell... What a great event, and thanks to Tony Adamowicz for getting the under two liter cars there! Ron
  11. We will be traveling out from California, and are looking forward to seeing a number of BRE and BSR cars there. Any word if Bob Sharp is going to make it out? He drove the BRE guest car?
  12. I would not use a welded diff on the street, as it is noisy at low speed and would be scary in the rain. If you have gone to all the trouble to build a car with an RB etc. I would think that the cost of a LSD would be nothing compared with what you have spent to get to this point. Get a nice LSD and enjoy the handling benefits. Ron
  13. I sold and bought some parts and had a great time! Ron

Yes, just hard to find time. Holidays are always very busy. You can access my blog directly at www.rcnetworksracing.com. It looks like the old link above has some problems.

    I would agree with $3k to $6k
  16. Doehring, Thanks for the advice. I do talk to the Brock's on a regular basis. But not about products that they sold 40 years ago that don't apply to me... There is a big difference in what BRE sold over the counter and their race parts that they installed on their cars. For instance, the headers they sold were manufactured for them my Cyclone and were completely different from what they raced with. Some parts overlaped like the remote oil filter housing, but most did not. My BRE replica does not run BRE/Interpart springs, although, now that I think about it I had a set of the blue ones in the past...
  17. Well you learn something new every day.... How about that...
  18. The bump stops are relative to the dampers in the car as you do not want to bottom out the strut inserts as it will damage the valving. What inserts are you running? As far a BRE springs. BRE did sell springs, but I do not recall them being color coded. Is there a reason to think these are BRE springs, and not a more common manufacture? Ron

a baffled pan is a good idea, and an accusump is also a good idea.

Mark's advice is very good. Be sure to lock down your plan and do not over modify your car...
  23. There are many aspects of the replica that is for sale that are not accurate. But for the right person and the right price things could be done to make it more correct.
  24. It seems that there are a lot of these cars coming out of the woodwork, second one that I have seen for sale in the last 6 months or so... Nice paint, at least it looks like he got the colors right. Still some details missing and an incomplete BRE replica. can't say I like the gold brake drums or front calipers...
  25. Hi Phillip, Personally, I think it is history that makes the difference, rare is nice, history is interesting. I seriously doubt that I could even come close to Bob's figures for my car, if I were to sell it, even though my car has the original body and not a "rebodied" car. Most roadsters were eventually flared so that they could continue to be competitive into the 70's and 80's. Some are still racing competitively with SCCA today. Your friends car is evidence of that trend. My car was never modified that way and I am grateful for that as I like it as it ran in the day. There are also a couple of light weight roadsters too, 1968 was the only year of light weight roadsters (bodies in white, lightened at the factory for competition), and I have seen 2 and know of only a handful of others. Your friends car, if it was a competition car since new could be a light weight car. It is worth looking into. You might find this interesting as well: http://www.datsun.org/fairlady/usindex.htm Ron
