  1. Thanks Zed, I think I can figure out now. The previous owner (I think ) tampered with some of wiring.
  2. I used that wire on 1st attempt but, it drew too much power from coil & caused car to "cut-out" at higher rpms. Are you able to see in manual which accessories are shared on that fuse (A/C?)?
  3. What is best source for switched 12v for electric fuel pump? Mine was connected to coil but, robbed power at high rpm causing car to "cut-out". Now I have connected to battery with manual switch under dash (pain in but). I'm considering going back to mechanical pump. Is there a good power source for pump that is ignition switched?

  5. I don't think this is fair example of prices for a "quality" Z. I would hate to see what a 1200-1800 example looks like. I going to bet $1200 would get you a pile of rust not a early 240z. I sold a Jensen Healey (lotus drive train) about 4 years ago because I could not stand that there is "no-way" to stop a British car from leaking oil all over garage

I'm no expert on 280's but, have you check with test light to see if it is 12v or, ground that is faulty? If you've already checked the basic: fuse box & (in-line fuse?) I would just run new wire to solid power source. FYI- Mine was wired to coil by PO & figured out that it was robbing power from coil at higher rpms.

I think the new 370 coupe will give new GT Mustang a run. Sorry but, no chance in an 80's ZX (still nice looking car though).

  10. Definitely interested in tach since mine is not working. Please let me know if decide to sell & how many wire on back. I think there are 2 different versions
  11. i tried on Friday but, was already sold. Good find Spider4me, I wonder if the tach works. that tach alone was worth more then $60.

Maybe I should check around for an RX-7 fuel pump. The Holly works great but, noisy as H*&&. Thanks, I wont block the return line

I think that it will stop when pressure is reached (is that considered on-demand?). It is a Holley "Red" from Motorsports

Was recently suggested to me that I block-off the fuel return to prevent the fuel pump from running constantly. Any opinions on whether this is a good or, bad idea? PS: I have a 73' 240 with round tops

You can also get generic black in "help" section of most franchise auto part stores.

Thanks Toonis. I'm just considering. I may take you up on offer to take pictures if I decide to make offer. Looked to see your 73', no pics?

Does look like a really nice car. Do you have opinion of what is good retail price (offer) for that car in Florida?
  18. I would go by local chrome shop & get a printed estimate to refurbish that one (doesnt look that bad). If you are willing to do the labor of taking off & replace, may be better then before for about 300-400 bucks. I'd be surprised if insurance company gives you allot of grief over that.
  19. I need the order form for his 308
  20. If the fuel gauge reads "full" the 2 wires on sending unit may have been attached to wrong leads (50/50 chance). Thats what I did (oops) easy fix if problem.

I have even pressed the tachometer thru my full dash cap

I'm no expert but, on my 73 the filler tube to tank is just a rubber tube with hose clamp that attaches to gas tank. I would check to see that is still in place and fitted correctly over bib that comes off tank. Its tricky to reach from right rear fender well after removing the inspection panel that is held by 4-5 screws.
  23. You should post some pictures so some of the more qualified can provide good info. I base my personal value on the body (damage from rust or, accidents?) & whether it is unmodified
  24. Sorry, I missed the make/Model. Still think it sounds like fuel
  25. Did you test fuel pressure test while car was performing normally? I would carry a phillips head screwdriver & drive until car dies the, open top of one of the carbs & look for fuel. I know there are many possibilities but, I think you stand a pretty good chance of fixing with a new electric fuel pump.
