bodywork
yeah...im realizing that sheet metal is fairly inexpensive compared to everything else thats needed. its pretty bad when you decide welding all the emblem holes is cheaper than buying new ones. oh well projects keep us out of trouble...they say. Guy, i need to come by and check out the collection next time your playing in the shop.

How to remove 240Z head
I had a couple broken head bolts and was able to remove them by using acetylene torch then tapping them with hammer (if there is enough to tap) and removing with vice grips. Didnt have to heat very much. Heat works wonders. Brian

car cover
Anyone have reccomendations for a good car cover. The car is stripped of all windows doors etc. I need a good cover to keep the weather off/out of it as i work on it. Snow wont be a problem as it will be under cover by then. I've never bought a cover and dont want to find out i bought a junk one a year from now. Thanks in advance. Brian

Jumping in with 2
Im in same boat as you. I tacked a piece on backside of weld to help. dont think anyone will ever see it when its finished. that should help with blowing through the metal. I also just spot welded about every inch or so.

Please asses this rust damage for me
my father in law gave me his '73 240z thats been sitting for 20 years and rusting. I had no welding expierience but my dad does(not expert but can weld). i paid 350 to 400 dollars for new floor boards and 50 bucks for 4 x 8 16 guage sheet of sheet metal. we have replaced firewall section under battery tray, made new battery tray, and fixed 4 rust areas behind all wheels. if you get the metal work in the ball park, a skim coat of bondo will smooth it out and it'll be solid because theres metal behind it. firewall, etc...wont look original but im just trying to get it on the road and have fun with it. blah blah.....i say go for it. its just metal. weld it, grind it, bondo, and whatever else gets it back on the road. oh and now i know how to weld.

polly urethane tension rod bushings
thanks Dave. I have it installed double urethane right now. I guess i need to get 2 new rubbers to replace the wheel side urethane bushing. really appreciate the help. This car was my father in laws and was strippped down when i got it(basket case). I"ve replaced floor pans and all other typical rust problems. I"m starting to put stuff back together now that i didnt take apart. By the way your car is bad arse.

polly urethane tension rod bushings
Do the polly urethane bushings from energy suspension replace the aluminum socket and ball that were on the car originally? If not how the hell does it all go together? It seems that the polly bushings have to replace the aluminum socket and ball because i dont see how it would fit otherwise. any input is appreciated. thanks.
