  1. I saw that the other day and remembered your dad telling me about it at the Z show a few months ago. It would definitely be the one to get. I'm actually surprised your dad hasn't snatched that up just on principal.
  2. Actually, I think it's the other way around. Leather will shrink and get hard when heated. Vinyl does soften and can be stretched when heated.
  3. Console Boot These are the parts I have. Courtesy's website doesn't show the boot too well (it's the same pic for the 240 and the later style I think) so the link is to a Nissan boot being sold on Ebay that is the exact same one I have.

Cut pile is more of a modern style of carpet. Loop is what was original to 240Z and 260Z. I can't speak of the 280Z since I have never owned one that had original carpet. I know my 260Z had loop pile originally, but I will be replacing it with cut pile. I bought cut pile from a place the sells carpet on Ebay. It's pretty thin and cheap feeling. I was hoping for something more robust. I can't afford to buy carpet from every vendor to compare them :disappoin
  5. It is a late 73-78 boot, see the above in red from my original post. Anyway, I think I was installing it wrong. On my 240Z the boot is folded over the flange and clipped. The 260Z boot must not fold over it, it must just slide beside it and clip. That's the only way I can make it fit. If I try to fold it over, it must be stretched severely to reach all sides. If I let slide beside the flange, if fits perfectly. I was hoping someone would chime in with a pic of what it is supposed to look like.
  6. Hey guys, I have bought a new console (Nissan for 77-78) and a new shift boot (Nissan late 73-78) and I can't get the boot to install in the console. I bought new clips as well (8). I purchased all the parts from Courtesy Nissan. My car had a heavily busted console and was an automatic so I don't have anything to go on. I have all new parts from Nissan. It seems like I have to stretch the hell out of it to get it to go, but I can't stretch it enough. I don't want to damage any of the parts. Does anyone have pictures of what it should look like? It's too different from my '71's console and boot for that to help. Thanks.
  7. I wouldn't want to spin it and sand it since that would be 90 degrees to the grains direction. That might be kind of nit-picky for a shift knob, but that's just me. I am going to make a shift knob and lever that looks originalish for the T56 going in my car. I'm going to turn the knob out on a lathe and make a 6 spd pattern insert for in the original styling. I want it to basically match the Nardi wheel, so I may add an ebony stripe around it.
  8. I don't have experience yet on the Z car seat covers and foam but from my experience with Corvettes, I highly recommend replacing the foam when doing seat covers as others have suggested. I haven't decided who I'm going to buy from yet for my Z car. It seems like most everyone has a kit.
  9. I'm with Alan on this one. I just bought a new (rebuilt) master vac from "reddat" on Ebay. I was only inquiring about the OE manual brake equipped cars since I had never heard of it before. I'm just doing basic brake upgrades and new master vac and master cylinder. I may put the larger bore MC on due to the upgraded discs. I'm more interested in maintaining an original appearance while adding some improved braking performance.
  10. Well, the reason I was saying I didn't understand Japanese was because exactly what you said. The ratio's were so close together and neither one appeared to be close enough to what I'd consider a manual ratio.
  11. Alan, thank you for the page. It shows two different sets of dimensions. Is one for manual brakes and the other for power assist? If so, which one is which? I don't read Jp.
  12. As usual, great information Alan! I used to enjoy your posts on HybridZ, but the quality of tech and information has declined in the past few years so I haven't visited there for quite some time. Thanks to all who posted. So, the special pedal and pin... I assume the pin was larger in diameter? I say this because I would also assume even the regular production Z pin would have been a hardened material. Alan, do you know what the pedal ratio would have been? preith, thank you for that information. I do want to convert my car to manual brakes, but I want it to appear OEM. I am putting disc brakes on the rear and upgrading the fronts. esprist, lot's of neat information on your website. Thanks.
  13. I just learned that the Z432R's came with manual brakes. The MC appears to be a standard 7/8" Z part. Did they use a different unit that looks similar? Did they use the same one and adjust the pedal ratio to provide more leverage? Both? The OEM manual brake offering intrigues me. I presume they did this because the race cars didn't produce enough vacuum to operate the booster.
