Nice job, Ben. It looks really good!

This was a fun show indeed, and even though my Z could not make it, I had fun and met some people I knew and other's I did not. Here are a few more pictures of awesome Datsuns.
  3. Yea you and Mike B. are right about it being a service decal... I asked the ebay guy and he said the same thing. At least now I won't feel bad when I peel the rest of it off This picture is of the choke lightbulb, to go with the "Life" fuse posted earlier.

Today I received this 1970 240z silver bar, in the mail, that I won on ebay last week. It weighs 1000 grains (64.8 grams), is made of sterling silver and comes from the Franklin Mint. It's supposed to be part of the "100 Set Centennial Car Ingot Collection" and was issued 1973-1978, according to the seller. This is an awesome bar and even though mine is a '72, I was lucky enough to find it by chance and win it!
  5. Hey Jared, sorry to see that your still trying to sell your Z.... it's so nice!

I am very sorry for your loss I can't even imagine what you are going through, but I wish you the best. It's always sad news when we lose an enthusiast. I am glad that you will continue to finish your 240K, I know your friend would have wanted it that way.

Jeff, you saved yourself an hour of grief. Watching the "all stars" saying bad things of a 240z was almost as sickening as watching them hack away at it and make a mockery of it. Let's turn it into a cartoon? I guess the Z didn't have enough curves... At least the challengers didn't deviate too far from a hybrid Z, although I don't understand why they must always use V-8s. I woke up to watch it at 5 am here on the west coast to watch it, and let's just say its not good to start your day PO'd. This was the first time I saw this "Car Warriors" (more like monsters) and the last time!
  8. The shop is at fault. You gave him instructions and documents to follow, and he clearly ignored it. If he was not qualified to fix it, he should have passed it on to someone who was, but that was not the case. He was over confident in his ability to "repair" something without consulting your documents, now he screwed it up and expects you to pay for his mistake. You are paying them to fix your Z, not to break something and cost you more. Your Z is not a trial and error experiment or a learning experience. The only lesson they should learn from this is that disregarding instructions will cost them $$ for parts and labor.
  9. That shell was picked dry, but it looked complete and straight, the battery tray was clean. However some dingo seemed to cut out the rear end as to remove the tail lights in one piece? So I felt  when I saw that. Pick-A-Part Ontario (Milliken) and Ecology Auto Parts (Rialto) I found some more Z's at other yards today at two other yards. Most had been picked through (The 2+2 was all gone, minus the shell of course) except for the last 2 280Zs, that had only been there since the 15th and many good parts were still in there. The blue 280z had some nice wheels. Why would anyone repaint the Lime colored Z's and why are they in the yard? Like before, I put the the car's vin in the picture's file name.
  10. I found two 240z, one built 1/71, and the other was a '73. Two 280z coupe, and a 2+2. FWIW, I put their respective vin numbers on the picture file name. Ecology Auto Parts Fontana (Cherry) I wonder if the turbine wheels on the blue 280 are worth saving? They were all there. Also on the '73 there was the gas expansion tank still bolted on... I am definitely going back tomorrow for the bucket headlight on the 280 with the turbine wheels. I placed it on the 280 to make it look good for probably its last picture taken.
  11. Alright maybe it's not a Nissan decal, I was just curious because on my door (pictured below) there was remnants of a sticker. At the top there's lettering I can only make out what looks like "T-UN". Looking at it again, the one on my door seems longer than the one I posted. It's a long shot but I will ask the guy on ebay if he could send me a better picture, I was just curious thats all.
  12. Does anyone have the picture of the decal that goes on the driver's side door, next to the 2 screws? Like in the picture below (that I found of ebay).
  13. This is another example of people that are severely misinformed about Z cars. http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/cto/2267446738.html "datsun 250 zx"

Hey guys, I was reading this old thread and decided snap a few pictures of my window sticker that I got along with my car. I know some of you were looking for the Los Angeles port of entry number. My car is also a 1972, if that helps any. The sticker has a good 1/2 inch missing on the left side and is folded down the middle, but that's how I recieved it. I am wasn't sure how clear the pics would be so I snapped 2. Also, a Consumer Information booklet came with my paperwork. I am not sure how rare this booklet is but the copy I have is mint and it seems to be new, because it looks like it was never creased open. Any info on the booklet would be appreciated.
  15. I like to keep my distance between me and the car in front of me for safety reasons. One day a guy in a large SUV (the kind that feel invincible and that they own the road) felt that I wasn't driving "fast" enough to catch up to the guy in front of me. So rather than going around me (gas is too much $$ and I will not go any faster) he decides to flash me. So I let him go around and in front of me and decide to flash him back! Well being that his car is 3 to 5 times higher, it really didn't affect him much, but it made me feel better . I've only used the aiming the side view mirrors back at the technique once with success, but on another car with those electrically controlled ones. What would be awesome, to me, is if we could install mirrors on the hatch that could flip open to have the person's highs be reflected back at them, but that's just me.

Hey ksbeta, nothing wrong with sharing your story! I have already been offered solutions to my problem by the awesome people here. I mean if you can't share your horn stories here, then where can you? I hope you get that fixed soon, driving Z's shouldn't be an awkward experience :paranoid:

Hey Mr. Taylor, I'll send you a PM!

Hey Sarah thanks for the advice and for sharing your story! That guy sounded like a jerk, I can understand being upset by a horn constantly going off, but becoming angrier when you're holding the horn button? Men need to be respectful to women, especially ones that drive Zs . The horn certainly is a safety item, too bad it gave out the first time I used it while driving. At least it is something easily replaced, and it could have been worse.

Hello all, today while driving, I had to use the horn. When I pushed the horn pad in, I noticed it pop out of one side. After I got home I tried to push it back in (after removing the horn fuse of course) and the horn pad popped off all together and I noticed the foam inside which I assume is used to keep it in place broke off. Now I have a foam ring about 2/3 the circumference of the pad. I guess after 40 years of use it finally gave way. Does anyone have a remedy for this? Or do I need to drop $$ on a new horn pad? Thanks.
  20. Ok I will test the switch connection or any other connections... perhaps something got bumped loose. I noticed another with similar problems, but it was for a 280z and I'm sure that the electrical system is different on them.
  21. Hello everyone. I went for a night drive the other day and after going over a speed bump, my dash lights went out. Tonight however I noticed that the side lights and the parking lights do not work either. The fuses were all checked and replaced. The headlights, turn signal/hazards, and break lights work. Any suggestions would be appreciated, as always.

Hey Dave, thanks for the confirmation, I will try that early tomorrow morning. I finished in time to go a local Z meet and being with those guys with awesome(er) Zs, I learned a lot more and even made a list of what I need. One guy there told me about the electronic Ignition, Mallory was one and the other was... pertronix? I will look into this electronic ingition, but I don't want to veer too much from stock.

Oh thats a beauty! My pop is looking for an old pick up... he was going to buy a '76 TOYOTA until I talked him out of it because he would have to smog it. Now I am suggesting 620's or 1600's *Evil Laugh*

Ok I got everything back in... I was playing around with the choke mechanisms and they seemed to be working... but when I reinstalled the cable, I must have put it back in the right way because now I have a choke! The new bracket also seems to be doing its job. Ok just to verify: Idle speed for my Z is about 600 rpm. When I apply the choke it goes up to 1000 rpm. Is that the norm?
