Choke does not work
I am in the process of intalling the choke grommet and after removing the air cleaner and the cable, I could get a better look. Both cables were clamped down tightly. After removing the cables I noticed the front choke mechanism seems to need a cleaning because it doesn't really move freely, however the back mechanism doesnt drop the jet nozzle... so i am not sure whats going on there. I think the choke can wait a bit, especially since its getting warmer here in Cali. I do want to finish putting the shift boot and choke grommet however. I was wondering which way to put the grommet through the cables best? There are these brass looking nuts at the end of the cables (in the picture) that I cant fit through the small holes. Also I removed the center console and saw that one of the plastic mounts for the choke was broken, which is probably common, So I made a bracket/plate (other pics) to remount the choke right. I used a small copper sheet I had lying around but I am not sure if it is a proper material to use or if I should go to the hardware store and get aluminum/steel? Thanks

Choke does not work
Hey everyone, just ordered and received a rubber shift boot and a choke grommet in order to help with the fumes inside the Z. The shift boot has a hole and I can see the floor, while the choke grommet is missing all together and in its place a piece of duct tape. Anyway, while I am installing the grommet, I was wondering if there was anything I could to do fix the choke? I pull on the knob and the cables do move like they are supposed to, but nothing happens. Not even when I pull on the linkage manually. I know it is supposed to increase the idle in order to help the car warm up. Does this problem sound familiar to anyone? Anything that I can do myself or should I leave this to the pros? Thanks in advance Below I will include pictures of the parts I will be installing. Also, a thanks to Esprist for supplying the shifter boot

Fuel Tank Removal "How To"
Hey Sarah, thanks for clearing that up, I shouldn't be giving bad advice like that! But I did say I was a noob (excuses, excuses... I know ) The reason I dropped my tank was not only to clean it, because it was clogging my filter with crud, but also because I took her out one day to fill 'er up, and after 6 gallons, gas started to pour out behind the wheel well! So I replaced that hose (one to the expansion tank, that was ductaped..) and the one on the far right, that my friend cut up. But you are right, I should have just waited and saved up for a new set of hoses.

Weird Myths or Facts about your Z car
My friend once took me to the junkyard by his house (about 25-30 miles away) claiming they had "about 8 or 10 Z's" just like mine and that they had not really been picked through! On the way there i was all excited about the possibilities. As it turned out, they were all 280zx's, although there was a 280z 2+2, that he didn't notice . My other favorites are the people that sell Z's that they have, claiming that they have a V-6 . When i was looking for my Z i also noticed some selling them as a "z240" or "z260"etc...

Fuel Tank Removal "How To"
Argniest, I am a noob, and if we could do it, so can you ! Like said before its good to have a friend and a floor jack. Its much, much easier remove than to put back. You said you might want to replace hoses, but be sure to remove the ones you have carefully, because if they are original, they are old and might tear. Thats more $$ you wouldn't need to spend. If where you live, older cars are prone to rust, be sure to spray penetrating lubricant where the strap bolts are. My 240 sat for 7 years with old gas and try as i might, couldnt clean it myself and left it to the "pros" to clean it. Good luck with your tank!

How rare is limegreen 240z's?
That lime green color is my favorite! I think you should repaint it its original color. I always looked for that color for the past few years i wanted to buy my Z. I finally came across my white Z... And as they say, "beggars cant be choosers". I love my Z, but if someone wanted to trade with a lime, I'd seriously consider it. Anyone?

It's time to make room.....
Hello there St.stephen, I was wondering if you had a break booster for a 260z?

OK Lets hear it! What did ya get for Christmas??
Hey everyone! My Z's battery uncharged yesterday after I took it out for a spin. I got the battery recharged, but before I could take it home, it began to pour so my zed got drenched... other than that I got a sweet R/C helicopter!

Datsun Coin
Wow! being a collector myself, I am surprised that I didn't know about the coin's existance before. The Perth Mint is very reputable and the only thing that would make me not purchase their coins is the price. With an ounce of silver worth $29.30 right now, paying the $81usd that they wanted is a pretty high mark up, however considering that the coin sold for $115usd being sold second hand, it seems like a deal. Owning one would be pretty neat.

24 months of intensive restoration, and I'm almost done.
It is at $51,000 on ebay right now but the reserve is still not met. That is my favorite color too... wish I had the $$, but I would have preferred to keep it stock, in my opinion.

stock speaker locations.
Wow guys, this is amazing learning to me. Its going to be a year since I got my 240z. I was all jazzed that the original radio worked but I thought I had to fix "the other speaker". I replaced the old antenna and saw the speaker but even after changing the gas tank filler hose, I didn't think to notice there was no other speaker! Well that's another thing off of my list!

Car Security
There are many security things that you can add, as mentioned by others. It all depends on how much time and money you have as well as how bad the place is or how paranoid you get . You can unhook the rotor (mentioned), take the coil wire (mentioned) you can unhook your gas pedal from the accelerator rod by unsnapping in either from the inside or the engine bay. You can get a club for the steering wheel or a club that goes on the "brake pedal" for automatics and on the "clutch pedal" for manual transmission. It manual, put it in gear and club the clutch the only way to take it is to cut the pedal and the club or to tow it by the back wheels. Back up against a wall and your set. You can have an alarm (hook it up to the horn and crank that sucker), "low jack", you can have the pager thing, you can have a kill switch for the fuel or the battery. Hell you can carry an air pump with you and let air out of the tires everytime... ok im getting a little carried away but seriously if they want your car they will take it because unfortunately locks only keep the honest people out.

I wish I could buy it
Thanks for adding me Vitamin Z. I saw the Z's were a pinkish 260z and a faded grey 280z. The guy wanted $4,000 for it because I saw him post it on craigslist but it wasn't worth it. $2,200 sounds like a lot especially if you say you were looking at it for parts. I'm glad I got my 240z for $2,500. I really need to post some pictures . Oh there was a green 280z for sale not too long ago off of Garey and Orange Grove. Now that I think about it there are quite a few Z's in the area.

I wish I could buy it
Hey Vitamin Z, Was this 260z a pinkish/faded red one by WinCo? There seems to be someone in the apartment complex that buys Zs and sells them because I have seen a few running Zs that look like project/parts cars for sale... although I havent seen any around recently.
