  2. Mikes Z, great article, I just promoted it to our Technical Articles area. Thanks for posting!
  3. Frank, so sorry this happened to you (and the early Z)!! Hopefully his parts will go to help other cars that need to survive!

SB, where did you find that? I'd like to pick up a Z flavor...

Ha! Now this is a cool idea. Moved the idea into our new "Garage Hobbyist" forum... Who wants to start building and selling these?

Thanks guys, are there websites for the aftermarket systems you recommended? Although I like the idea of EFI, I like the simplicity of my engine compartment with the triples on there now. It looks neat and clean. I remember seeing an aftermarket system on a Z at the Canby show that was very clean. The guy replaced the distributor with some kind of mechanical sensor on the crank and low voltage all the way up to the spark plug. Like a modern system, the high voltage spark isn't transferred over wires, each spark plug has a mini coil on top of it. My goal is to make the car easier to drive while keeping the engine bay clean. I would like something that looks like it was delivered in the 70's. I believe there are some nice EFI photos in the gallery and I'll have to post a few here.

Hi guys, Ok, so I'm looking at a project this year. My car is fully restored and I've got triple Mikuni's installed. It's a great system, but, just coughs and sputters a bit too much for me. I have a full EFI system out of a 78 280z including computer and intake with brand new injectors. Does anyone have a tech article on making the swap happen? That said, is it possible to use my existing fuel supply piping and fuel tank (I've got a '71)? Mike

Blue, you have some good information here about the EFI system. I wanted to let you know that I modified your post and put your data about temp vs resistance in a table using the WYSIWYG editor. In the future, if you want to build a table, click on the "Go Advanced" link in your reply and then click on the WYSIWYG button on the upper left side. You'll have the full capability of displaying & editing tables. Hope this helps! Mike

Just watched the movie "30 Minutes of Less" and there was a burgundy ZX used for the getaway car. Has anyone else seen it? I found a few videos on Youtube about it.

One time I had an engine rebuilt but the guy put the distributor gear in 180 degrees off. I had the same problem trying to start it. Have you tried swapping the firing order?
  15. I'm still waiting for you to comment about the brake light. Was it really out?

Hi Brenco, welcome to the club! I tried fixing some of your images on the first post but it looks like you fixed them later in the thread. Nice work and, again, welcome to the site! And, FYI, you can also upload your photos to your own gallery on our site. This way the photos don't get lost in case Photobucket changes their hosting around (again). Here's a link to the gallery: http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/useralbums.php

Great idea, something like this would be a heck of a learning tool. I've seen non-operating cutaways (with small electric motors turning them over) in aviation museums quite a bit.... was a great way for me to learn about how some of the older jet engines were designed. Although an operational L6 would be a challenge to build, and very cool to see, I am not sure how the investment would be all that beneficial over a full cutaway engine. I mean, you would spend an extraordinary amount of time just getting the thing to run. The time could be spent on color codes, documentation, and videography. For me, I'm still waiting for someone to replicate the cross flow head. m

You can also try listing it on our classifieds site. http://www.datsunclassifieds.com
  24. And the tides turn... bobc, don't forget to come back and visit! I think there must be a tendency for Z owners to love either the Porsche 911 classic or the Jag E-type... something about the way they look. All too similar! Bob, you still have the blue GTS?
