Zak, The carpet kit from CDM fits great. Enrique, good idea about the kick plate and fuse box. I'll take them out until we're close to done. We used double sided foam-tape stuff to seal all the seams on the heater/vent enclosures.

I am happy to report even more progress today. New (yes it's a '72) dashboard is in, interior wiring is nearly complete, hood latch / release is done, heater assembly is all there, and hoses are peeking out of the firewall. Carpets are there and looking good. We are still waiting on the vinyl pieces and I believe our next step is to find door panels. And, oh yes, the windshield will be installed.

Here are some more picts for your viewing pleasure. 240znz, Most of the NLA parts I am re-using if it can be cleaned up. The external door piece is one of them. If I can't clean up a part, I'll see if we can find it on a parts car somewhere. Enrique, I think I have some kind of special smudge remover tool around here. If I can't find it, I might take you up on the offer. Firewall material showed up, installed the heater, re-created the spare tire cover, test-fitted the new fuse panel, and the door sills are done. I'm not sure if I like the idea of leaving holes (for the screws) through the wheel well. Welding some kind of nut-sert or permanent screw sounds like a good idea. Then I could remove the tray at any time. Hmm... Where do you find these nut-serts? I'm definitely not going with the autocross answer. That's too much work.

Install the bumper with a friend. It's easier. The car looks awesome!! I'm in the same boat with my paint... keeping it looking perfect is tough when you're putting all the parts back on. -- Mike

Hi all, Can some of you guys post pictures of your battery install and hold-down ideas? I'm looking into various solutions since my battery tray has been completely removed. We are considering welding in a stock tray, but, I'm not sure if that's the best idea or not. I'd like to go with an Optima battery and I doubt I'll put it in the car. I'd like to find photos of any interesting solution out there. Of course, welding the stock tray back in place isn't a bad idea..... Most cars I've seen are using the stock tray.

I'm not sure if I'd attempt the Dremel on a new dash. A replacement dash is $1,600 now and I wouldn't even chance screwing that up. Any way you can use a knife?

Wow, good find Enrique.... If someone wasn't paying attention, they would have purchased the packaging and not known it... sheesh. Why would they show the entire product in the photos but only sell the packaging? Misleading if you ask me..

Wow, there's a lot of activity in this forum, I have to bump mine back up to the top with an update. I finally ordered and received a big shipment of parts from Motorsport Auto over the weekend. The guys at MSA were excellent and they were even able to ship me the parts next-day-air (for a price of course). I wanted to get my parts in for the long weekend so I could do a little more work on the car during my time off. Anyway, I ended up purchasing one of those rear-panel speaker boxes, a lot of small parts, a center console, electric fuel-pump, a heater-valve, heater hoses, and a ton of other goodies I can't remember here. We also recieved the carpet, window-trim vinyl, and kick-panels from Les Cannaday at Classic Datsun Motorsports. He's also shipping me all of the interior vinyl (with a diamond cut that closely matches the stock original), and the firewall covering. I guess the firewall covering is a very difficult-to-find item and Les was able to set me up! Oh yea, I was able to find the LAST REMAINING STOCK WINDSHIELD in the USA. Steve at Ztherapy set me up with this as he has some good contacts at Nissan. If you look at the photo of the glass, you'll notice that it says Nissan right on it. This was a bonus find!!! All the rubber was supplied by Steve and the kit is a Precision Replacement Parts product. I must say the rubber kit is very nice and well worth the price. All of the rubber fits perfectly and the door gaskets are expecially nice. You can see in my photos where they supplied the little rubber piece that fits between the door and the body. (the little plastic rivets were supplied by Motorsport Auto) Anyway, we have made some excellent progress on the car and if wasn't for the team, this baby would still be sitting in my garage. We still have a lot more work to do, but, these next few weeks will come together quickly as all the parts arrive. -- Mike PS: Thanks, Bryon, for staying on top of the build and plugging along even if it doesn't look like things are going anywhere.
