Ok, here is the poll!
Hey, good point... what exactly is authentic? :tapemouth Now we're starting to sound like a bunch of engineers. I'm assuming that "authentic" would apply to the location at which it was rebuilt. If I buy an Australian spec Zcar and restore it using American spec parts, then I don't believe it is a true authentic replica. So, I see that Australians got the F uck Floor Mats. That's pretty good. hahah... (referring to your thumbnail)

Sitting in the garage for 24 years
One more suggestion.. definitely drop the fuel tank and have it cleaned. However, you should also consider blowing out the fuel lines. This will avoid any kind of contaminates in the lines such as old sludge. I inherited a similar vehicle but I had a serious engine malfunction after some of the old sticky gas got on my valves. It ended up causing a valve to stick open and the piston hit it. Think about it this way... if there is a fluid to be drained.... do it. -- Mike

Ok, here is the poll!
Good poll!! I hope we get a lot of responses from various people on this subject. If you are reading this, give your opinion!! We want to hear it. The same people responding to these threads over-and-over can get a bit dull. As far as my opinion... I believe the question asks about "authenticity" of a vehicle. If you wanted an authentic replica of something, you'd want a COPY. Or, at least something close to a copy. I also believe that some parts improved between the models and some parts degraded between the models. It all depends on the level someone has modified a vehicle before I consider it not-authentic. There are so many common parts between the 240z, 260z, and 280z I believe most of them could be considered fair game. But, if you are shooting for pure authenticity, then all parts should be made for the model of car you want.

Firing Order
I believe the offset key, you are referring to, is on the receiving side of the distributor. However, the other side is a shaft with a gear on it. After looking at the microfiche CD (shameless plug), I can see that another key may exist on the bottom side. This key is used for the oil pump? Anyway, if the oil pump is running 180deg out of whack I don't believe it would be a problem either. So, I'm thinking the shaft was put in with the wrong rotation. See the attached snapshot of the microfiche part #22.

Firing Order
This is the proper firing order on 99% of the L-series engines. However, mine was flipped around 180 degrees after my engine rebuild. I guess the engine builder installed the distributor shaft backward. I fought with this problem for about half a day before I just said, "screw it," and tried the 180 flip. My car fired right up.

Ever drive/own a 300ZX Turbo?
Hey now, the ZX has a great spot in history. It's just like the 350z. All of the cars will hold a special place in all of our hearts. I never did own a 300ZX TT, but, I came *VERY* close to buying one about three years ago at the MSA show. You're gonna get a few old timers who resist any kind of change. But, there are a bunch of us fans of the whole "life of the Z" and would be proud to drive any of them. It's a hell of a lot better than driving a Dodge Dart. Well, the Dart also has a lot of fun memories as well.... haha. Anyway, I did drive a TT one time. It was a pretty fun drive, but, I was young at the time and any kind of newer sports car would have been a DREAM to me. My most unique experience driving a Nissan was in Australia. One of our members owns a RHD Skyline GTR and I took that out for a spin. The car was amazing and not to mention the RHD was a trip. I couldn't get used to shifting with my left hand.

believe it or not
Hi guys, at first glance on this car I suspect is has a lot more than 13k miles. The engine looks pretty worn and the underside of the carriage also looks like it has more miles. At 13k, this thing should be shiny! The odometers are easy to roll back on the early Zed's (I've done it to a speedo I purchased on ebay). So, I wouldn't immediately trust this ad.

Pop Up Ads
Go get Spybot Search & Destroy. This is a free program used by many corporations I know of... It's is currently installed on my PC and I love it. Here's the link: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html Also be sure you have a virus scanner that is always running. Some of the newest viruses can get into your PC through bad websites. Stay away from porn sites because those are the worst -- I heard.

Pop Up Ads
Nope, we haven't made any kinds of deals with the devil. You'll *NEVER* see pop up ads on our site. Never never never never.... I wouldn't think a used car salesman would go that low... well... maybe.
