Dash Wiring Harness
I wonder why it would get really hot? From what I know about electricity, the only reason it should get hot is due to the incorrect guage wire or some kind of resistance. Maybe this connector has the same problem as the connector in the fuse panel. It corrodes (at the connection) just enough to cause resistance. This causes the area to heat-up and melt the plastic. If I remember correctly, this connection is on the passenger side of the car near the heater core. Could be caused by moisture.

Rewire with Relays?
Has anyone taken a basically stock 240z and rewired it to use modern relay technology? Ie: Bringing the high amperage wiring outside the cockpit? <i>(thanks to MikeW for helping me use the proper terminology)</i>

Also ask the owner why the emblem has been relocated (hit a deer?) and how come the bumper rubber is missing.

Ahhh is this a 240z? i cant tell...
Looks like that car has had some work done. The Z emblem on the hood is in the wrong spot. From that, I also see bumpers that were used on the 240z. (the 280z used larger bumpers causing them to stick way out from the car) From that view, it certainly "looks" like a 240z. But, since the body is the same from the 240z, 260z, and 280z, it's almost impossible to tell for sure. Can you give us more information? Ie: Does it have fuel injection, carbs (round or flat top), what's the VIN, etc...

Dash Wiring Harness
Does anyone know why Nissan used two separate harnesses for the dash? I'm taking mine apart (ready for the new dash) and noticed it. In a few areas, some wiring crosses over from one harness to another. I will be going through the dash harness to refresh it. I'll probably replace all of the tape and a few connections. Since that was in the car (protected from the elements), most of the connections are in great shape. One of the bigger guage wires (white with red stripe) fused itself to the engine harness connection. I'll definitely replace that one. [m]

How many Z forums do you participate in?
Guys, I created another thread here: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7113 At Keith's request (2ManyZs). He wanted to allow multiple choices instead of limiting you to a single selection. -- Mike This thread is now closed. Use the link above to comment or RE-vote on the new one. Everybody will need to re-vote. Sorry..... (I can't edit the old post and add the multiple-choices for some reason -- a limit in the software).

(RE) What other Z sites do you frequent?
This is a continuation of the other poll created by 2ManyZs, but, it allows you to select multiple other sites. I'd also like to add... Make sure these are sites that you FREQUENTLY visit. (rather than once a month or so). Ie: Don't vote if you are just a member of the other site and hardly visit them. 2ManyZs asked me to redo the poll so you guys had the opportunity to select more than one site. [m]

How many Z forums do you participate in?
The only way to set up the poll to allow multiple votes, is to delete it and start over.... You guys ok with that or just continue like this?

ZVOITURE parts for sale
Steve can you post the pictures to this thread instead of using links? The links can go bad and we lose the picts forever. If the picts are in the message we will always have them in the dB.

We are all pulling for him. If you get a chance to visit him in the hospital (or see his sister again), maybe you should print out this thread and bring it to him. I'm sure it will bring his spirits up! -- Mike

Where to get wiring ends?
I think I know of a place here locally that can provide me with these kind of connectors. I'll have to put together a shopping list and go see if I can find them. I'm thinking about re-doing all of my wiring with new connectors as well as wires. -- Mike

Z cars in movies
Can someone get a screenshot of that sequence? I can't seem to make it work. Anyway, it looks like a later-model (280z?) becuase of the large bumper in front.

Where to get wiring ends?
Hi all, I'm rebuilding my wiring harnesses. This is a big chore and I was wondering if anyone knows where I can buy the plastic ends. The ends I am speaking of consist of multiple wires coming into a single recepticle (either female or male depending on the end).

What is the going price of a concourse car
Check with the guys at http://www.classicdatsun.com . They were chosen as a shop (by Nissan) to restore Zcars to their original condition. Talk to Les and tell him that I sent you (Mike Gholson). If they don't have a car for you, they can restore one.

echo, you are correct. The first click turns on the running lights. When you turn on the headlights (2nd click) running lights should stay on as well.
