Deive Shaft U Joints
Go with the stock U-Joints. Pay the price and just get them. I've tried several aftermarket U-joints and had to replace them within a few thousand miles. Sucks when you have to get down there a 2nd (and even 3rd) time to replace the joints. You might want to check to see if any of the racers have a secret here. Some of the beefy u-joints actually have zirks so you can grease them. DO NOT go cheap on your u-joints. Spend the money on the good ones.

Headers more noisy???
If you took off the muffler and just compared noise between the stock manifold and aftermarket, the sound might be different.. but, probably not that much. *IF* you can stand the noise (put on some earmuffs)!! Now, if you went with headers I'm assuming you'll go with either a 2.25" or 2.5" exhaust. And, you'll also need a muffler to go with that. I had a 6-to-1 header, 2.5" exhaust, and a turbo-style muffler. The sound was incredible. Louder than stock? Yes. Nice mellow tone? Hmm... Let's just say I loved to listen to her idle. People say that 2.25" exhaust and a very nice muffler are the best way to go. I agree about the very nice muffler, but, I really liked my 2.5" exhaust. Of course I haven't compared two side by side (and reported my findings), but, I was completely happy with my 2.5" It wasn't too loud.

Removal of #@$%ing rear pins & bushings.
I seem to remember about the $150 to $200 range per control arm. I screwed around with mine so much that I just said f**K it and bought new control arms.

If you own a Zcar, what's your sex?
Oh, that's an EXCELLENT story!! Why did you stop? Pick up your ego and keep it rolling............. If she was really your dream girl, it wouldn't have worked out anyway. Sounds to me like she was S-L-O-W... :cheeky:

Where are you located? Forget it.. just saw that you are in Seattle. How much do you want for the engine?

What makes you drive craZy?
Okay, so I'm sitting here listening to Rammstein. I don't think I should ever listen to this group while I drive my Z (or any fast vehicle for that matter). Music makes me go faster, faster, and faster. What makes you go faster and drive crazy? I'm not talking about out of control, but, more like what gets you going? You can make multiple selections. Or, if it's not listed, reply with your idea.

What do you run?
It might have to due with my old age of 32. Can't remember things that well anymore. But, hey.. I just got both ears pierced... trying to stay hip with the times.
-
What do you run?
Back when I did this in the early 90's (when my car was actually running), I seem to remember times of about 12 - 14 seconds. This was unofficial results from my own calculations in the car.

high-rpm stumble
The bouncing point idea is good. Have you considered moving to a magnetic type system? They have conversion kits available for pretty cheap.

Foaming oil?
His original message says something about a ZX pump. Steve, how did your oil do on the return trip? No problems? Or, did you say that you couldn't sustain the 90mph because of the cops? Anyway, 20w-50 Castrol is decent stuff. I wouldn't think it did that type of thing. Did you verify that the oil was in fact bubbling up at all? Or, was that just speculation due to the dropping pressure? Check the contacts for the sending unit and make sure they aren't working loose. Maybe you have a short and it gets worse as the engine heats up or as the wind blows through your engine compartment at 90+mph.

Needed: Working L28
Well, I've got all the EFI from the L28 that I took out of the car... however, don't you think an L26 will be underpowered for a 280z 2+2? I was considering putting one of my extra L24's in the car, but, I'm not sure if that would be right.

Experience with ATK Engines
Yep, I'm back in Oregon trying to recover from timezone drama. (jetlag) Anyway, I'd love to get in touch with someone who can do this engine for me.

Experience with ATK Engines
I'm more than willing to try someone else. I just decided to go with ATK because they actually test the engine before shipping it out to the customer. I also heard many good things about them. But, alas, I don't think they can get the parts they need for this project. I'm thinking that this blue baby is probably more work than I have time for... so, I might be getting rid of the car so I can actually work on my yellow beast. Or, maybe I should gut the 280z 2+2 and sell the parts? It would be a shame because the car is in excellent condition and only has around 70k original miles. It just sat for over 15 years and needs new things.....
