1970 Z432 For Sale - California
Hey guys, yes I've unbiasedly hidden a few posts in this thread. Please keep in mind that any post should be on-topic and not intended to attack or cause a fight (trolling). Please consider that I have a life and cannot police all topics and posts. I only focus on the posts that are a violation of our ethics and conditions of use. For instance, I cannot stop someone from being an arse, but, I can stop them from violating the rules. I don't have preference for anyone on this site, but, I do want to make sure the overall subject matter remains on topic. And, if you are typing something and think a keyboard and a monitor are enough to protect you from a punch in the nose, please don't post it. Lastly, please don't take our site into the realm of zcar.com land. Ad revenue might increase as more people jump into the fight, but, I really don't want our little place in history to be known as an unfriendly place. This would devastate me because I've managed to keep this place going for over 20 years. Thanks, Mike

Mystery switch?
But, I still keep wondering about the momentary thing. An alarm is either on or off. Maybe it's a kill switch for a motion detection device? Meaning, if you wanted to set your alarm, but, disable the motion detection.. (I had a BMW that used to always alarm while I was on a ferry boat, only later did I figure out you can set the alarm to ignore the motion detection)

Salvage Title Car
Salvage title probably isn't an issue on a classic unless you want to restore and sell it for top dollar. But, for a fun project, it shouldn't be a deterrent. I typically shy away from salvage titles on newer cars because it affects the resale opportunities. m

theft prevention
Has anyone considered this kind of solution? Seems like a very simple theft deterrent. However, I would think disconnecting the battery totally would cause memory loss on any electronics in the cabin.

I just ran across a cool device put together by a fellow Datsun fanatic. @ron carter is the sales director for this company that provides a GPS tracking system for classic cars. Check it out! http://www.geoskyalert.com/

Wow, this is probably one of the ultimate thread digs. 10 years ago, and coming back from the dead!- Classic Zcar Club forums mentioned on Mecum Auctions Monterrey broadcast
Just sent you PM about the password.- Classic Zcar Club forums mentioned on Mecum Auctions Monterrey broadcast
Great! I always wondered how the automatic performs in the early cars. I've never driven one. Hey I noticed you're on Tapatalk. It's a nice program for viewing the forums, but, if you want to visit our gallery, garages, and other things you may want to check us out using your computer (or tablet). I'd like to see more pics of your car if you get a chance. Edit: You could always upload a bunch of pics to this topic in the forums too. I believe Tapatalk will allow you to do this. We also have our own app. Do a search for Classic Zcar Club in the app store.- Stock seat belt fix
Looks good, but, I'm wondering if the ends of that K-clip will cause wear on the cloth belt? Have you done some searching to see if you can find a retaining ring that will fit ? Something like the one below.- Classic Zcar Club forums mentioned on Mecum Auctions Monterrey broadcast
Mike, is this your new car? Just trying to place the car because I think there were three on auction.- Classic Zcar Club forums mentioned on Mecum Auctions Monterrey broadcast
Welcome to the club! So glad to see you on here after winning the auction. Feel free to roam around and use the search tool in case you ever need to look up something. We have quite a lot of archived information here so you're in the right place. Take a look at the garage area and upload a few pics of your new toy to our gallery. Anyway, welcome to Z-ownership, it's an extremely rewarding hobby. I know I love it.- Classic Zcar Club forums mentioned on Mecum Auctions Monterrey broadcast
Thanks for letting me know. I looked for the broadcast on Youtube but it hasn't been posted yet.- Classic Zcar Club forums mentioned on Mecum Auctions Monterrey broadcast
This may be the Z's they were discussing from the auction. I'm trying to see if I can find the broadcast somewhere. https://www.mecum.com/lots/CA0816-244296/1971-datsun-240z-coupe/ https://www.mecum.com/lots/CA0816-244606/1973-datsun-240z-coupe/- Classic Zcar Club forums mentioned on Mecum Auctions Monterrey broadcast
Awesome! Any idea who it was that gave us a shout-out?- Help! The Air Conditioner I Got Doesn't Fit My 280Z
By the way, per this discussion I decided to add a new forum to the list called "Heat & Air Conditioning" on your behalf, Jai. I moved a bunch of other A/C related threads into this forum. You can also do a search to find other posts related to A/C in case I missed any. Click here to search our site for the words "air conditioning" for example.- Help! The Air Conditioner I Got Doesn't Fit My 280Z
Sorry to hear about your troubles Jai. Both Motorsport Auto and Zcardepot have parts for A/C systems in the early cars but I don't know if they have the controls. From what I understand, the controls for the early Z's were a small dial on the side of the dash. Hope you can find something that will work! Keep us posted. Edit, after browsing the MSA site I noticed they have a complete kit for the later model cars here. They don't have any pictures and it's somewhat vague if the kit includes all of the controls. You may need to call them to make sure. I also don't have any experience installing these kits, so, I don't know much about the actual install. Mike- We lost one of the good ones today. 8(
Bummer.. he was a funny guy!- I will own my First Z soon
If it's truly a 1974, it will be a 260z with dual SU carburetors. Does it have the small bumpers or the larger ones? I believe the later models had the bigger bumpers. Anyway, if it's in good shape, this would be an excellent find. In 1975 they released the 280z which had the larger bumpers and fuel injection. - Z mechanic near Davenport IA?
