problem with start up after installing headers
Thanks for getting back to everyone on this. I was going to suggest that it was electrical or fuel related because a header shouldn't prevent an engine from firing up...

Video: Datsun Z cars, 30 years later
Early Datsun Z's, starting with the 240Z raised the bar and set the benchmark for affordable sports car peformance 30 years ago. OverDrive TV takes a look at this influencial Japanese sports car. Video: Datsun 280ZX 'Black Gold' Commercial
Hey can you guys try to upload some videos to the new MediaCenter? I've been working on it today and fixed a bunch of non working links. I'd be curious if you can upload video, add links to youtube, or just use it correctly...

Video: Datsun 280ZX 'Black Gold' Commercial
This is the infamous commercial for the 10th Anniversary 280ZX that Datsun made about 3,500 of in 1980. I love the dude with the sweet 'stache. He looks like some one that Ben Stiller would play on SNL.

Thanks Chris. I checked it out and looks like he's got some banner ads (inside the site I assume). At the bottom of the page it says the banner ads will go away if you donate. That's actually not a bad idea. I'll see if I can look for a way to disable ads for supporting members. Thanks for the ideas and the link.

Towing a 1971 240Z with a car dolly
Removing the drive-shaft is an problem because fluid will leak out of the back of the transmission -- especially if you elevate the front of the car on a dolly. Not sure if anyone else here has done it but there may be some tricks around keeping the fluid inside the transmission. I used to to put a plastic bag over the end and used a ziptie to seal it off. But, this might not work for such a long drive. Is there a way you can tow her on a full trailer?

New member from Norway...
So Terje, I've gotta ask (fixed wing pilot myself), what's the blue chopper sitting next to the Z? Is it yours?

Triple Mikuni thread
This manual would be a great addition to the downloads area. Let me know where you guys have the file buried.

New member from Norway...
Hi Terje, this goes to show how much it matters to find a car that is owned by an enthusiast. You probably had one of the best experiences, dealing with someone as excited about Z's as Arne. You are fortunate to have a good experience buying online. This is proof that it can still be done. Although I am sad to see Arne no longer owns a Z, I am excited to see that you are a new member to our small family of Zed heads... ((I also have a feeling Arne won't be a non-Z-owner for long)) Anyway, welcome to the club!!! It looks like you replaced the wheels, what brand and size did you go with? m PS: Do you recognize our new header graphic? It's from your Z.

Debadging: Yes or no?
You should add a poll to this thread.. See thread tools. I, for one, would not de-badge the Z.

Ever seen a 240Z with a backseat?
This brings back memories... although I didn't have a seat in my '71, I remember driving from Portland, OR all the way to San Diego, CA with a passenger in the center. It was my GF at the time. My sister was in the passenger seat. We all took turns driving, napping in the back, and sitting in the passenger seat. All I remember is sitting in the middle like that is not very comfortable. You either have to be a kid or a very small adult to sit in a seat like the one on this post. We used to lay down with our feet out the front and our head looking straight up through the hatch glass. There were no seat belt laws or airbags. God, I'm starting to sound like an old guy. m

Unless a majority of members disagree, I don't think we will ever become a "pay site"... although I believe there is room for a separate section that only supporting members can get into.. ie: microfiche scans, documents, downloads, publications, etc. We have been kicking around the idea of another data disc (like our Zcar CD), but, that takes a LOT of work up front and someone eventually gets stuck with a huge up front bill for manufacturing. We already have a lot of documents prepared, so, I should get busy and start working on ways to get the data added to the site. Anyway, donations have always been available on the site. There is a donation box on the right side on the home page or you can use this link: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/payments.php Everything goes through Paypal at the moment. Contact me if you don't like Paypal or prefer to use another method. As far as donating, we don't always need money. There are other ways to donate to the site with your time. For instance, I could use some help in the gallery.... I need someone to go through and create new galleries for the events this summer. I also could use someone to go out and seek links to different events on the planet. I know Sport Z Mag has a listing of summer events and it would be great to browse through the mag and add the events here. Uploads, I also have some great ideas here. But, I need someone with time enough to help me figure out how to make the download module work correctly. We have the ability to add downloads to the site, I just haven't had the time to test the module. And, as far as "lurkers" or people who hang in the background.... if you want to help out.. simply click on the ads. It really does help. Last time I checked, we get $.85 per click on some of the bigger sites. Please don't go haywire on the clicks, a few a day are ok. If Google detects anyone clicking an ad more than just a few times a day, the Google ad system will block your IP. But, if you think about it... everyone who visits the site has an opportunity to virtually donate up to $2-3 a day just by following ads. It's a strange concept but it really does work. There you go... many ways for people to help with the site without actually having to organize a big event. If you are so inclined, one more idea is I need someone to chase down Ian at Gearhead Shirts... he promised to build a Tshirt for the club. How many project managers do we have out there? This is your chance to shine! Thanks guys! mike m

Fusible link problem?
I wish I would have known about Banzai when I was restoring my Z. I think I paid close to a hundred bucks for that firewall boot. I am wondering if their connectors would help some of my existing issues. Good find with Banzai. I'll have to see if they want to be listed in our Vendors area.

$69 NISSAN 280Z Chip 60 Horsepower Increase, yada, yada, yada (GForce chip)
Hi guys, yes I added some advertising to help raise some capital so we can make improvements to the site. There are a number of things we want to do and adding the Google Adsense package to the site was a great way for us to raise the necessary money. I tried putting ads in the least annoying places on the site. I won't let this place turn into an ad nightmare, but, it was a necessary adjustment. As an FYI, our monthly overhead costs (electricity bill, server hardware maintenance, Internet fees, etc) are in the $350-$400 range. Half of that was covered by direct sponsors, and the other half was paid by yours truly. As far as the ads themselves, you will see less of them after you log in. Non-members see more of them. If you can help out the site by clicking on a few banners here and there, it will definitely help out. I believe we get about $.20-$.80 per click (depending on the vendor). This way, even lurkers can help our cause. Nonetheless, the thing I noticed about Google Adsense is the content is based on some kind of Google intelligence based on your browsing history. I have tried forcing them to show race cars, classic cars, nissan, datsun, zcar and other related topics. But, there are certain types of other ads that can sneak through. As far as the microchip thread, hopefully this hasn't hijacked any kind of discussion.... Please start a different topic or send me a PM if you are concerned about the ads. I'll see what I can do to TRY and keep everyone happy.

MSA West Coast Nationals Photos?
Hi all, do we have some volunteers to upload photos to our Event gallery? Some of us, who couldn't make it, would love to see the photos! Thanks! Link to the gallery: http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=3697 Mike
