This manual would be a great addition to the downloads area. Let me know where you guys have the file buried.

Hi Terje, this goes to show how much it matters to find a car that is owned by an enthusiast. You probably had one of the best experiences, dealing with someone as excited about Z's as Arne. You are fortunate to have a good experience buying online. This is proof that it can still be done. Although I am sad to see Arne no longer owns a Z, I am excited to see that you are a new member to our small family of Zed heads... ((I also have a feeling Arne won't be a non-Z-owner for long)) Anyway, welcome to the club!!! It looks like you replaced the wheels, what brand and size did you go with? m PS: Do you recognize our new header graphic? It's from your Z.

You should add a poll to this thread.. See thread tools. I, for one, would not de-badge the Z.
  4. Yesterday... I've been playing with code again.
  5. Very nice!! Guys, don't forget to use the new "Like" button on this one..

This brings back memories... although I didn't have a seat in my '71, I remember driving from Portland, OR all the way to San Diego, CA with a passenger in the center. It was my GF at the time. My sister was in the passenger seat. We all took turns driving, napping in the back, and sitting in the passenger seat. All I remember is sitting in the middle like that is not very comfortable. You either have to be a kid or a very small adult to sit in a seat like the one on this post. We used to lay down with our feet out the front and our head looking straight up through the hatch glass. There were no seat belt laws or airbags. God, I'm starting to sound like an old guy. m

Unless a majority of members disagree, I don't think we will ever become a "pay site"... although I believe there is room for a separate section that only supporting members can get into.. ie: microfiche scans, documents, downloads, publications, etc. We have been kicking around the idea of another data disc (like our Zcar CD), but, that takes a LOT of work up front and someone eventually gets stuck with a huge up front bill for manufacturing. We already have a lot of documents prepared, so, I should get busy and start working on ways to get the data added to the site. Anyway, donations have always been available on the site. There is a donation box on the right side on the home page or you can use this link: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/payments.php Everything goes through Paypal at the moment. Contact me if you don't like Paypal or prefer to use another method. As far as donating, we don't always need money. There are other ways to donate to the site with your time. For instance, I could use some help in the gallery.... I need someone to go through and create new galleries for the events this summer. I also could use someone to go out and seek links to different events on the planet. I know Sport Z Mag has a listing of summer events and it would be great to browse through the mag and add the events here. Uploads, I also have some great ideas here. But, I need someone with time enough to help me figure out how to make the download module work correctly. We have the ability to add downloads to the site, I just haven't had the time to test the module. And, as far as "lurkers" or people who hang in the background.... if you want to help out.. simply click on the ads. It really does help. Last time I checked, we get $.85 per click on some of the bigger sites. Please don't go haywire on the clicks, a few a day are ok. If Google detects anyone clicking an ad more than just a few times a day, the Google ad system will block your IP. But, if you think about it... everyone who visits the site has an opportunity to virtually donate up to $2-3 a day just by following ads. It's a strange concept but it really does work. There you go... many ways for people to help with the site without actually having to organize a big event. If you are so inclined, one more idea is I need someone to chase down Ian at Gearhead Shirts... he promised to build a Tshirt for the club. How many project managers do we have out there? This is your chance to shine! Thanks guys! mike m

I wish I would have known about Banzai when I was restoring my Z. I think I paid close to a hundred bucks for that firewall boot. I am wondering if their connectors would help some of my existing issues. Good find with Banzai. I'll have to see if they want to be listed in our Vendors area.
  10. Hi guys, yes I added some advertising to help raise some capital so we can make improvements to the site. There are a number of things we want to do and adding the Google Adsense package to the site was a great way for us to raise the necessary money. I tried putting ads in the least annoying places on the site. I won't let this place turn into an ad nightmare, but, it was a necessary adjustment. As an FYI, our monthly overhead costs (electricity bill, server hardware maintenance, Internet fees, etc) are in the $350-$400 range. Half of that was covered by direct sponsors, and the other half was paid by yours truly. As far as the ads themselves, you will see less of them after you log in. Non-members see more of them. If you can help out the site by clicking on a few banners here and there, it will definitely help out. I believe we get about $.20-$.80 per click (depending on the vendor). This way, even lurkers can help our cause. Nonetheless, the thing I noticed about Google Adsense is the content is based on some kind of Google intelligence based on your browsing history. I have tried forcing them to show race cars, classic cars, nissan, datsun, zcar and other related topics. But, there are certain types of other ads that can sneak through. As far as the microchip thread, hopefully this hasn't hijacked any kind of discussion.... Please start a different topic or send me a PM if you are concerned about the ads. I'll see what I can do to TRY and keep everyone happy.
  11. Hi all, do we have some volunteers to upload photos to our Event gallery? Some of us, who couldn't make it, would love to see the photos! Thanks! Link to the gallery: http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=3697 Mike

Johnnyt, nice post! I never saw it before. I think it's good enough to use as a technical article, congrats! Take a look in the articles section, here's the new link: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/content.php?191-Latest-wheel-selections-and-personal-reviews-which-one-is-your-favourite I was wondering, can you also add some of the other popular wheels, such as the Panasports and the Konig Rewinds? Thanks! Mike

.Hey Johhnyt, cool stuff. Can you post a link to your thread?
  14. I've got a '06 5 series. Great car and it's very fun to drive. It's solid and quiet, cornering is absolutely amazing. I have the xi, which is an AWD model. I like the looks, but would prefer to have staggered wheels. The xi model requires same sized wheels on all four corners. I like the sporty look of the staggered wheels on the 5's. Next I will probable spring for the M6 or the Z8. BMW is a great car, but expensive to own. If you don't know how to work on your own cars or at least know how to order parts online, then you will need to have a good job. It's a great car and very safe. I would put my family in a BMW any day. I also like the look of some of the classic BMW's. The old 6series and i think the 2002? Was that a model? Neat looking cars. M PS: I had the privilege to spend a full day driving a friend of mine's Z8. Talk about an amazing car. It's got the character and personality to last a lifetime. Not to mention, I was able to get a flat 15second time at the drag strip South of Boulder, CO a few summers ago. Very cool experience.

Zedy, this is an awesome photo! What camera specs were you using to take that ? As far as the wheels, I like the VTO's they look very well placed on your car. Any shots of the car with the Panasports? m

NASA? Would love to find a link to that special deal...

Thanks Jim, I definitely like the look of the 16's on your Z! The 15's I had at the show look good (see other post), but, I don't think they filled the wheel wells enough. The 16's would probably do the trick!

I just added a photo to my original post showing the Boyds (the way they are now). Here's another shot of what I've got now: And, with borrowed Konig Rewinds (15"):

So, my oversized Boyd's (shown) are just too much for me. I'm planning to get new wheels and tires to fit the car. I have money and this time it's for real. What do you recommend? I'll take a look at some of the older posts but any new replies are welcome. I've been looking at both Panasport and Konig Rewinds. I had the Konig light silver on the car for one of our local shows here in Portland and they looked great. Panasports would be perfect too. But are there any other opinions out there? How about JDM wheels from Japan? Mike

Try to put an ad in our site http://datsunclassifieds.com because I just saw a want-ad go up requesting a 240z...
