1970's original Key Blank(oval top)
I guess you couldn't see me smirking/smiling when I typed that, but, I wasn't serious about the Mr thing... I always hate being called Mr... but, at almost 40, I should probably get used to it. HA! Anyway, I had no idea Nissan never released a DATSUN key? Is that true? I never had an original key for my '71 since the PO had lost it somewhere. Is there a write-up somewhere showing the correct keys for the various years the Zcars were produced? m

1970's original Key Blank(oval top)
Hi Carl, texasz, others... Please don't take the removal of your positive suggestions as negative marks. I simply wanted to remove any evidence of a flame war so we could continue the original discussion about keys. I know most of you were not to blame and don't mean to insult those of you who are on this club daily. Again, my intent was to simply perform a clean-up to get us back on track. Don't worry about it, Bill. Thanks for the apology. Now, let's get back to talking about keys!! My favorite subject!!!! m

New import cars suck-old ones were great/I'm right you are wrong/whatever else.
This thread is starting to get a life of it's own. Think I'm going to spin off a new thread......

Hi Tomo, YES absolutely everyone has a right to their opinion! Don't forget that it goes two ways because people are allowed to disagree as well as express their opinions. So, if you have an opinion don't fret if somone disagrees (or agrees) with it... M

I love rides like that... we used to do those kinds of runs on the crotch rockets... It would be a lot safer in a cage like a car.

Hiya Vic! Where ya been? On a sabbatical ? It's good to hear from you.

Yes, we are here to talk about the original Z. But, that doesn't mean we are unwilling to discuss concepts like the one here. I'd love to take my semi-modified foreign car to a mostly-American hot rod show to see how it goes off... Yea, I am getting that feeling. I'm so happy to know that we are able to help fill a need.

Ok, I'm a little confused. When did this site become a "purist" club? That's news to me... Considering that I'm the founder of the site, it's even bigger news. Why do people insist on telling people to go away like this? I'm confused... :pirate: The human-race is in this together, I just don't understand differences like this...... Do you just think you're happily banging away on an American-made computer keyboard? The shoes and clothing on your back are probably not from America. Or if they are, they're probably assembled in Vietnam or some other country. Ever bother looking under the dashboard of your American made car? All those little components, circuit boards, modules, and technology... Sorry, but, I just don't agree with this thinking -- ESPECIALLY since this website is here because a foreign company wanted to bring us something really cool... the 240z.

Frankly, I think the Z made huge leaps to gain the respect of the hot rodding community. The notion of Asian imports being cheap and ridiculous isn't shared by everyone on this site. In fact, the sheer number of Asian import purchases over the latest decade would suggest otherwise. Why is it that Ford can't figure out how to export their production without showing a huge profit LOSS while a company like Toyota can have their cars built in American and show record profits ? Anyway, off my soap box... I LOVE to see that a hot rodding company like this is able to take on a Z project and advertise it right along with the other rods. It makes me proud. A restoration project is the same no matter which way you look at it. All cars require the same attention and love to bring out their glory.

Awesome info!! I was just thinking about ordering a key and didn't realize we couldn't get the originals anymore. It's great to have this resource to talk with others about stuff like this. Thanks

Iacoski Z Design Study Hits The Intarwebs
08-20-2008 08:04 PM Here’s an interesting specimen that’s been making the internet rounds. Perhaps unsatisfied with Nissan Yulon’s X-Link as a worthy flagship for a revival of the Datsun brand, someone calling himself Iacoski has offered this alternative. We’re not really feelin’ the GT-R front, but that side profile definitely recalls the S30 Z and looks good doing it, proving just how timeless the original shape was. In fact, we think it looks better than Nissan’s own leaked 370Z photo. What say you, yay or nay? [NihonCar] More...

2008 Beijing Summer Olympics
Ok, here's a good topic to discuss. I'm sure most of you have been watching the summer Olympics. What do you think? Of course most of us are aware of Michael Phelp's and his 8 gold medals. I've heard conversation that he might be the best Olympic athlete ever... Not sure if I agree with the "best ever" part, but, certainly the best in swimming. One of my favorites is Shawn Johnson. She's a great athlete and has a great attitude about what she's doing. http://www.nbcolympics.com/athletes/athlete=619/bio/index.html

Message to the GUYS of CZCC
The "welcome to the internet" wasn't actually offensive to me. I saw it and kinda mumbled to myself... yea, true.... There are also other comments I also agree with from others who have replied as well. In fact, I think we are all right on this subject. Just from the sheer number of replies in the last 4-5 hours, I can tell this is a topic that might tend to linger just like a discussion about politics. One thing I do believe is that ANY member making a comment (man or woman) should remember to type as if you were standing right in front of the other person. Or, type as if you were making an announcement to a group of people in a room.......

Message to the GUYS of CZCC
Guys, we have to stop chasing off every female member that joins our club. I seem to remember about 4-5 female members that just don't come around anymore because we're too busy making stupid remarks or sending messages that could be considered offensive. I understand that automotive clubs are generally male dominated, but, would you really say the things in person that you say in these messages on a forum? If someone was right in front of you at a social gathering, would you really say these things? I don't want to make this sound out of proportion because there are some female members that don't have any objections. I just wanted to count on you guys to help out the club by being good to the rare and select few ladies that do bother to buy Z's.

Thread meandering-no real Z content, but Socializing is important too!
Hey, socializing is important. In the past even I was flamed for both trying to create social conversations as well as being too strict and not allowing them. After trying to please both kinds... I finally realized that's it's NOT possible to please everyone all of the time. You'll learn that.... so, just be yourself. Being yourself is a LOT easier than trying to be someone that others want you to be... That said, I don't have a problem with social interaction on this website when it's related to our purpose of creating a fun environment to talk about Z's..... I even added options for us to socialize more... blogs, friendship conversations (see your profile), buddy lists, photo galleries, videos... and a ton of other things. Sometimes it's a little too much, but, it's always fun to discover yet another new cool thing about this club. HA! Mike
