240z.org is famous now!
Hey Derk, Excellent!! Thanks for including us. We can always support more traffic and I'm excited that we've been in print!! I think the only other (printing) place that has mentioned our name is Sport Z Mag. I'll put a message in our news area about your column and we can hope that users go back to your site as well!

should i even consider buying this car? *long*
I can tell you that even tiny bubbles can be a sign that things are MUCH WORSE on the inside. I can guarantee that you'll have a lot of work on your hands.... just by the description you gave. If you have the tools and the welding experience, go for it.

What happened to the part about her wanting to get it running because she loves the car? Did she just decide to sell it to you at some point?

White-faced guages
Can you really print these and install them ? Somehow I don't trust that method. Even buying a vinyl sticker and putting that on the guage seems to be an evil thing to do. Doesn't someone make a plastic cover for the guages? I mean, something that will snap into place that can be removed at a later date? I seem to remember finding this kind of thing last year. But, I blew it off because my project is so far out.

Help identifying parts required please
I think those two round modules to the left are part of the EFI system. They are driven by vacuum and will prevent the car from starting if the proper vacuum conditions exist. You'll notice that the vacuum tubes run down to a plastic bottle just below. I never totally understood the safety equipment surrounding my EFI system when I got it working. But, I had to analyze the whole system and these were part of it. Basically, this is what I understood: The EFI system would not start properly if the engine did not have proper vacuum. If the engine suddenly loses power, vacuum will stop, and the electric fuel pump will also stop pumping fuel. These were the only things I could see that were capable of transferring vacuum into a computer signal. I can also only imagine that the canister below was a reserve tank in case the engine sputtered (similar to an electrical brown-out), but, did not stop.

Door Glass Rubber
Not yet... I want to buy these new. Something like this has to be done right because I don't want to take the door apart again down the road. I'll check with these resto guys or maybe stock has something.

Lower Hayabusa Shot
Another shot coming into the garage. Kinda blurry due to a short flash. Had to slow the shutterspeed. Keep very still!!!!

Door Glass Rubber
I'm looking to replace the rubber that fits between the glass (in the door) and the metal bracket that holds it in place. This rubber is sandwiched between two pieces of metal and keeps the metal from touching the glass. Can I still get this stuff?

Need motivation in New Year...HELP
Yea, forget the rust and the bodywork. Get the car on the road and deal with that stuff later. Where to start? Get that engine running. From reading the other posts, I assume others are in agreement here. After it's running... make it safe to drive.. Tires, brakes, etc.

Anyone from RENO????????????
Doesn't mean you can't start your own little car show in June! See if you can get a bunch of people to show up with you in June. Maybe there's a club near that area.

New Partner (Roadster) Site - Admin Wanted
I haven't registered anything yet. Was hoping to find an administrator to keep her going first. I think I have a few interested parties and it looks like we are moving forward. Now I just need to finish adding my skillful coding to the existing system and we're off. A few more modules to be added as well.

New Partner (Roadster) Site - Admin Wanted
Hi all, I've started a Datsun Roadster site with the similar intentions as our Zcar club. However, I would like to submit a request for possible administrators for this new site. The ideal candidate for Administrator should have some techincal abilities and a willingness to improve and make a 'world' out of the Roadster. Maintaining the site isn't much more than creating forums, encouraging others to visit (aimless promotion), appointing moderators, approving (or disapproving) of various content. They won't need to know any programming languages or operating system commands. I'll take care of all that here. Why am I doing this? We are paying for a server that is fully capable of handline multiple sites and it's not even close to our capacity. I also think there are no real good web-based Roadster groups (except for the mailing list) out there. I also expect this group will be a little slower because of the rarity of the vehicle. And, hey, it's really not that hard to make the site available on our server. (active participation is another story) Check out the site at: http://roadster.classicZcars.com We will purchase a domain as soon as we know this is something that people want to use (and enough people to help pay the domain fees). Thanks! -- Moderator Mike

Anyone from RENO????????????
I've been to the Hot August Nights show... it's a pretty fun time. But, do you think you could get away with driving a Zcar through that show? Not sure how the muscle car fans would take that. Of course, if we got together with a lot of other Zcars... we could show off some serious Z power!
