I'd stay away from the first one (unless you want something completely modified like that). Best value is to get one more like the 2nd car and do some work to get it going again. Carl collected some great articles on his web page about what to look for in a Z during your purchase. http://zhome.com/ Look for the menu item on the left side "Buying a Z Car Tips" Keep an eye on Craigslist, this site (in our classifieds area) and Bring A Trailer as Zed mentioned above.

Yeah the paint has me a little on edge.. I can't really tell if it's a baby blue or if it's just a poor set of photos of a white car (images are overexposed). Seems like a rush Maaco paint job and some of the parts aren't sitting on the car correctly. Gas tank is dented pretty bad and it describes the engine as an L28. The right buyer would likely want to do a rotisserie resto ... I still cringe when I see the door speakers. What a shame to cut big holes on those door panels.. ?

Ha, And he goes right in with the kill..... Let’s please stay focused on the car and not the model year debate. If anything, this is going to be a highly desirable car, depending on the true condition of course. Mike

Gents, I just ran across this baby while browsing the web for various things tonight. The car is a 1970 and the listing is showing as a 1971... The car has the rear vents under the hatch and 240z emblems on the side pillars so I know it's an early series car. I can't quite tell how good of shape she's in from the photos, but, it does look like some work needs to be done. Seller is asking $28,950 and appears to be located in California (from the plates). Listing agent is in NY. I've grabbed the photos and listing details here. Not sure if any of you are looking for an investment like this, but, it may be worth a look. No affiliation with the club. Hi all, I was just going through my photos and found a Roadster that got away from me quite a few years ago. I'm still kicking myself for not 'finding' the money to buy it. If I remember correctly, it was for sale in Washington State at a used sports car dealership. Just wondering if you recognize the car or possibly who picked it up. There were a lot of places that require cash. But the larger businesses will take credit card. So, it’s pretty much a blend of 50/50, if I was to summarize. There’s no problem finding ATM machines around the cities. I always went to 7-11 as it’s a huge chain in Japan. The 7-11’s are also a lot nicer and have better food (compared to the US). By the way, make sure you try the egg salad sandwich and strawberry sandwich before you leave. ;) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’m wondering there’s someone from the club (in the area) who can go help out the buyer. I’m sure he’s a bit curious pushing out that kind of money. Then again, he may already be on top if it. No harm in offering though.
Anyone know where the car is physically located and if the seller will allow an inspection? (Sorry I’m on my phone traveling and can’t dig into it right now)
Yep looks like that’s the final bid. It was impressive even through all the drama. I thought for sure the trolls were going to cause the auction to end at a lower price but it seems the car stood out in the end. In my opinion, BaT should limit comments to people who actually place a bid or at least a known reputation. Mike
Hi all, just wanted to post some status of my trip to Japan. I was able to meet @kats and we took a drive in his Fairlady Z432. Man what a great car! It’s in great shape and Kats knows how to take car of his cars. We met in Kyoto as I arrived, with my family, to our hotel. Kats lives about 30 minutes away from Kyoto and drove the car up just to visit with me. He has 4 Z’s and asked me which one I wanted to see (and drive). Since I’ve never seen a Z432, it was an obvious choice. We spent about 20-30 minutes ogling the car before he let me drive it around the block. I don’t have an international drivers license, so he took the controls and we went for an extended drive around the city. I’ll post more about my observations when I am able to sit down at a computer, but I wanted to share a few pics. What a great time, and I wanted to personally thank Kats for taking time out of his busy schedule to meet with me. As you can see, it’s springtime in japan and the cherry blossoms are in full effect!
Wow I haven’t checked in awhile but it certainly turned init a soap opera. Who’s going to swoop in and buy? Knowing the risks, it still may be a good opportunity.
