  1. This hurricane caused too much damage, I hope you get through the floods ok.
  2. This 1976 Datsun 620 (chassis HLG620104843) has been modified for use in Street Class autocross events with a nice mix of a warmed-over L20B, 280ZX 5-speed, three inch drop, sway bars and more. Overall the truck looks pretty sharp, though some through-rust will need to be tended before too long. Still, it’s a very cool and unusual build, and we love the idea of an old, green Datsun pick-up dashing around the cones. Find it here on eBay in Fredericksburg, Texas with no reserve beyond an unmet $3k starting bid. Green suits the truck quite well and finish looks good overall, aside perhaps from light fading atop the bed rails, while white is an ideal pairing for tailgate lettering, stripes, and decals. None of the latter look out of place, especially on a competition oriented truck, but we suspect they’re removable vinyl items. Rocker rust is unfortunate, but replacement panels are included and the truck looks fantastic lowered 3″ over mag wheels. Things in the cab look good too, despite quite a few dash cracks. Tan works nicely with the green body, and velour upholstery appears to remain in very decent shape, it could even be newer. Only one door trim panel is visible, but it’s in equally nice shape, and a simple, attractive aftermarket wheel and lowered shifter are the only visible mods. Not counting the feather duster, of course. Underhood lies an L20B four, recently rebuilt with a ported, polished, and decked head and .030 overbore, while further upgrades listed include a hotter cam, MSD ignition, twin Datsun Bluebird SSS carbs, and a lightweight flywheel. It’s fed by a 15 gallon fuel cell in the bed, and we love a nicely tuned L-series. It should make a decent amount of power and torque, and the cam, carbs, head work and flywheel should have it revving very nicely, too. The seller described as “locked” rear end, but we hope they meant locker and not fixed or “welded,” which would make street driving pretty uncomfortable. Regardless, it’s passed power by a 280ZX 5-speed, and the ad also notes new shocks and sway bars, too. View the Auction

Someone on this thread may have an extra one after they install new ones..
  4. This 1972 Datsun 510 (chassis PL510407401) is said to have just 29k and change miles from new, 22,000 or so of which were already accumulated by 1980. Paint remains almost all original, and the interior sounds as if it might be similarly well preserved. The car looks great throughout, and is said to run and drive just as well. Find it here on eBay in Kelowna, BC, Canada with reserve not met. Described as a two-owner example (not including the seller), the car is said to have added just 7k miles from 1980 to 2010, and only 300 more in the past six years. Paint is said to be all original apart from a small area (beltline up) on the driver’s door, and there’s a dent where a deer collided with the same side’s front fender. The seller believes it will pop out via PDR (and offers to have this work done prior to sale on request), and overall the car looks remarkably good for a 43 year old economy model. The interior presents similarly well, despite a long, split seam on the passenger’s front seat. This might be repairable, and everything else (including the headliner, door panels etc.) shows essentially no discernible wear. Note the excellent dash, OEM radio, and factory A/C. The latter is inop due to a missing compressor, but should be worth fixing. Says the seller: “The car has just gone through a full service. It runs and drives like a new 510. Starts on the turn of the key, very tight, no rattles or strange noises, very zippy, tracks and brakes straight with no wandering. Everything you would expect from a low mile car.” The bay certainly looks good, with minimal accumulated road grime in accordance with low mileage claims. Decals and data plates show very well too, and the trunk presents just as nicely. Recent work is said to have included a full tuneup, fitment of a new exhaust, and a replacement carb. 5. Looks like it's hitting farther north than anticipated?
  6. This 1973 Datsun 240Z (chassis HLS30161340) is offered by the third owner, who obtained the car in 1978 and describes it as completely stock and largely original. Though running, it will need what’s claimed to be minor rust repaired, and cosmetics are charmingly rough–it could be fixed up and driven as-is while saving for new paint, interior fittings and the like. Find it here on eBay in Coarsegold, California with no reserve. Exterior shots are limited, but Magic Hour lighting and decent camerawork flatter the car. Finish has been polished down to the primer in several spots, and the rest is quite flat. It looks good in a scruffy kind of way though, and added accessories like Appliance slotted mags, stripes, mirrors and overriders are all period correct. What look to be original blue plates are fitted, and the seller says that the car is solid overall, with rust limited to the door sills, wheel wells and hatch area. Inside, white vinyl is mostly pretty worn, and is properly thrashed underneath loose fitting one-size-fits-all seat covers. The dash shows several cracks, though all instruments, vents and switchgear appear to remain in place. The wheel is an OEM item, too. Things aren’t too rough looking underhood, especially when compared with the rest of the car, and though it sounds like some mechanical work may be needed, the L24 straight-six is said to run. It retains what look like stock Mikuni/SU carbs behind a factory orange painted air cleaner, and paint around the inner fenders and firewall give a good idea of what the car would have looked like back when paint was in better shape. For a decent looking and running S30, bidding remains fairly low at just under $5k at the time of writing. View it on bringatrailer.com

  8. Wishing good luck and prayers to our members in the eastern seaboard area during the next few days. Hurricane Matthew looks like a nasty one, especially in infrared!

Looks like a fun little track! I'm curious how they got away with it being so near the residential area. Maybe all of those people are race fans!
  10. We do have quite a bit of EFI information in our downloads area. Have you checked there?

Yes, as you discovered, it's quicker to just give them a call. As SteveJ mentioned, James is on our site frequently so he might be able to address any concerns.

Are you absolutely sure you have all of the bolts removed? If the head isn't coming apart from the block, even with a hoist, you have something preventing it from coming loose. Can you send a pic of the front and sides of the head while you have it on the hoist? m
  13. Mike posted a post in a topic in Help Me !!
Yea, not good advice. Unless you feel like buying a completely new head, repairing cylinders/pistons/valve damage... or going to the hospital. If you're working on the engine, I am going to assume you have the battery disconnected as a safety measure. If you have the head bolts and timing chain removed, you can simply push back and forth on the head until she comes loose. I've done this by pushing/pulling on the cam shaft mounts with my hands. Do *NOT* try starting the engine with the head loose.
  14. I'm not really sure what a selling tool is but you are welcome to post a real ad in our classifieds area. Look for the shopping forum. I also just updated datsunclassifieds.com to the latest software yesterday so you are also welcome to use it. Mike Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club

Hey guys, I just wanted to say this thread was my attempt to have a little fun. I'm not poking at anyone here, but only having fun with the internet as a whole. Please don't direct any of your posts at anyone from our membership or take this thread to the dark side. None the less, I thought this little troll was pretty cool so I bought it. I guess Norway has a thing for trolls based on folklore and legends.

I picked this little guy up on a recent business trip. He was sitting in a shop in Oslo, Norway and I figured he would be a cool addition to my desk. Apparently trolls are famous in Norwegian culture.... and the Internet.
  21. This 1971 Datsun 510 Station Wagon has been modified for performance driving and was used for autocross and HPDE events by the previous owner. The 2.2L inline-four is fitted with Z Therapy-prepared SU carburetors and backed by a 5-speed manual transmission sourced from a 280ZX. The brakes have been upgraded with 280ZX discs up front and 200SX discs in the rear. Other modifications include Panasport wheels and Quickor sway bars all around, and the car appears ready to use apart from older paint. This 510 Wagon is offered with a clean Washington title by BaT regular DENWERKS, who has gone through the car to ensure that it is a safe and reliable driver. The seller notes that the color is Spanish Olive, and it shows well in photos despite being around 15 years old. There are some irregularities in the color as the roof was repainted, and the scuttle panel forward of the windshield is not a perfect match for the hood. The wheels are said to be genuine Panasports, and were fitted with new tires around 300 miles ago. The car shows good panel alignment and appears to be free of dents. The slight pearl effect in the paintwork gives the color a slight shift in changing light. An original Bob Sharp sticker is present in the rear window. The front valence has a repaired crack as seen above, and there is a small rust bubble at the bottom of the driver-side front fender. The rest of the car is said to be rust free. Apart from a 1990s-vintage CD player, the interior appears stock at first glance. The shifter is original and shows a 4-speed pattern, though the gearbox is a 5-speed from a 280ZX. The dash has a single crack in the middle, but appears otherwise in good condition. The steering wheel is from a 280Z. The odometer shows 5k miles and is believed to have rolled once due to a mention of 90k miles in a 2000 magazine article about the car. The previous owner fitted racing buckets in this Datsun, but Procar adjustable seats are in place now. The black vinyl upholstery is a decent match for the rest of the interior and the seats are nearly new. The rear seat is original and in good condition. The cargo area is in nice shape, though a pair of matching rectangular tears are present on either side of the rear seat release handle. The headliner appears to be original and is taut for most of its length, with some minor looseness present where it meets the hard plastic panel that covers the hatch hinges. The 2.2L engine features a Z-series bottom end from a Datsun pickup mated to the L-series head used in the 510. The Z-series motor is similar to the L-series, albeit with a 3/4″ taller deck height allowing for a larger displacement. Several other modifications are present, including a mild cam, high compression pistons, and Z Therapy-prepared dual SU carbs and intake. The previous owner’s brother is a salesman at Z Therapy, and the two had similarly prepared 510s. A front strut tower brace has also been fitted. The floors are clean and straight, with no evidence of past repairs. The 280ZX transmission fits nicely in the stock tunnel, and the 2″ exhaust appears well made. The suspension in this car has been heavily upgraded for autocross and HPDE use. The previous owner fitted 280ZX struts and front discs, along with 200SX rear disc brakes. Porterfield Racing Pads are fitted front and rear, as are Quickor front and rear sway bars. The previous owner used the car for track days, autocross, and other performance driving-oriented events. The magazine feature with this car and the previous owner’s brother’s 510 is included. The seller has provided a walkaround and drive video of this Datsun as seen above. The original window sticker has been laminated and shows an original invoice price of $2,570. Several service manuals and tuning guides are also included. Though the paint is showing its age, this Datsun looks very ready to return to the track, road rallies, or even daily driver duties. View it on bringatrailer.com

  23. Hi guys, I had an hour or so to do some thinking on this issue and here's what I've decided to do. I don't think it's fair to censor individual posts. From now on, I am going to avoid removing individual posts. Instead, if a thread has gone "bad" (like this one), I will reserve the right to remove or lock the ENTIRE thread. There will be exceptions to this case I'm sure, but, this should make it easier on all of us. What does this mean? It means YOU now have control. If you don't think a topic should be removed, then it's up to YOU to keep it on topic (avoiding flame wars). If someone is causing a problem and standing out, report the post to me. The more complaints I receive the faster I will give a warning to that user. OK? I have re-enabled the posts that were hidden in this thread, to remain as an example.
  24. I only delete entirely off-topic posts or ones that I receive complaints. Please send me your complaints and I'll take a look at it. Zed Head, I tend to also remove your posts because you have a way of dominating a conversation by posting too many replies. May I suggest that you rationalize your thoughts about a topic and submit a single post with your information? Lastly, I do not tolerate trolling. If you need a definition, please look here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll One of our former members, Enrique (escanlon) put together a very good terms and conditions for our site and I think it hits home right now. Please take a look and remember, he died at a very early age. I cannot see him, talk to him, nor can I insult or thank him. He would appreciate this thread I'm sure. When you guys are beating each other over the head, remember "life is short." Treat each other with respect because you don't know if you'll see that guy again. Mike
  25. Hey guys, this is a great argument but can you carry on a healthy conversation? This means no direct attacks to a person (or persons). Argue all you want about the CAR or the crazy prices they are asking (for this car especially). Thanks. m
