N47 Head Removal Problem
Are you absolutely sure you have all of the bolts removed? If the head isn't coming apart from the block, even with a hoist, you have something preventing it from coming loose. Can you send a pic of the front and sides of the head while you have it on the hoist? m

N47 Head Removal Problem
Yea, not good advice. Unless you feel like buying a completely new head, repairing cylinders/pistons/valve damage... or going to the hospital. If you're working on the engine, I am going to assume you have the battery disconnected as a safety measure. If you have the head bolts and timing chain removed, you can simply push back and forth on the head until she comes loose. I've done this by pushing/pulling on the cam shaft mounts with my hands. Do *NOT* try starting the engine with the head loose.

Trolls
Hey guys, I just wanted to say this thread was my attempt to have a little fun. I'm not poking at anyone here, but only having fun with the internet as a whole. Please don't direct any of your posts at anyone from our membership or take this thread to the dark side. None the less, I thought this little troll was pretty cool so I bought it. I guess Norway has a thing for trolls based on folklore and legends.

BAT: 1971 Datsun 510 Station Wagon
This 1971 Datsun 510 Station Wagon has been modified for performance driving and was used for autocross and HPDE events by the previous owner. The 2.2L inline-four is fitted with Z Therapy-prepared SU carburetors and backed by a 5-speed manual transmission sourced from a 280ZX. The brakes have been upgraded with 280ZX discs up front and 200SX discs in the rear. Other modifications include Panasport wheels and Quickor sway bars all around, and the car appears ready to use apart from older paint. This 510 Wagon is offered with a clean Washington title by BaT regular DENWERKS, who has gone through the car to ensure that it is a safe and reliable driver. The seller notes that the color is Spanish Olive, and it shows well in photos despite being around 15 years old. There are some irregularities in the color as the roof was repainted, and the scuttle panel forward of the windshield is not a perfect match for the hood. The wheels are said to be genuine Panasports, and were fitted with new tires around 300 miles ago. The car shows good panel alignment and appears to be free of dents. The slight pearl effect in the paintwork gives the color a slight shift in changing light. An original Bob Sharp sticker is present in the rear window. The front valence has a repaired crack as seen above, and there is a small rust bubble at the bottom of the driver-side front fender. The rest of the car is said to be rust free. Apart from a 1990s-vintage CD player, the interior appears stock at first glance. The shifter is original and shows a 4-speed pattern, though the gearbox is a 5-speed from a 280ZX. The dash has a single crack in the middle, but appears otherwise in good condition. The steering wheel is from a 280Z. The odometer shows 5k miles and is believed to have rolled once due to a mention of 90k miles in a 2000 magazine article about the car. The previous owner fitted racing buckets in this Datsun, but Procar adjustable seats are in place now. The black vinyl upholstery is a decent match for the rest of the interior and the seats are nearly new. The rear seat is original and in good condition. The cargo area is in nice shape, though a pair of matching rectangular tears are present on either side of the rear seat release handle. The headliner appears to be original and is taut for most of its length, with some minor looseness present where it meets the hard plastic panel that covers the hatch hinges. The 2.2L engine features a Z-series bottom end from a Datsun pickup mated to the L-series head used in the 510. The Z-series motor is similar to the L-series, albeit with a 3/4″ taller deck height allowing for a larger displacement. Several other modifications are present, including a mild cam, high compression pistons, and Z Therapy-prepared dual SU carbs and intake. The previous owner’s brother is a salesman at Z Therapy, and the two had similarly prepared 510s. A front strut tower brace has also been fitted. The floors are clean and straight, with no evidence of past repairs. The 280ZX transmission fits nicely in the stock tunnel, and the 2″ exhaust appears well made. The suspension in this car has been heavily upgraded for autocross and HPDE use. The previous owner fitted 280ZX struts and front discs, along with 200SX rear disc brakes. Porterfield Racing Pads are fitted front and rear, as are Quickor front and rear sway bars. The previous owner used the car for track days, autocross, and other performance driving-oriented events. The magazine feature with this car and the previous owner’s brother’s 510 is included. The seller has provided a walkaround and drive video of this Datsun as seen above. The original window sticker has been laminated and shows an original invoice price of $2,570. Several service manuals and tuning guides are also included. Though the paint is showing its age, this Datsun looks very ready to return to the track, road rallies, or even daily driver duties. View it on bringatrailer.com

1970 Z432 For Sale - California
Hi guys, I had an hour or so to do some thinking on this issue and here's what I've decided to do. I don't think it's fair to censor individual posts. From now on, I am going to avoid removing individual posts. Instead, if a thread has gone "bad" (like this one), I will reserve the right to remove or lock the ENTIRE thread. There will be exceptions to this case I'm sure, but, this should make it easier on all of us. What does this mean? It means YOU now have control. If you don't think a topic should be removed, then it's up to YOU to keep it on topic (avoiding flame wars). If someone is causing a problem and standing out, report the post to me. The more complaints I receive the faster I will give a warning to that user. OK? I have re-enabled the posts that were hidden in this thread, to remain as an example.

1970 Z432 For Sale - California
I only delete entirely off-topic posts or ones that I receive complaints. Please send me your complaints and I'll take a look at it. Zed Head, I tend to also remove your posts because you have a way of dominating a conversation by posting too many replies. May I suggest that you rationalize your thoughts about a topic and submit a single post with your information? Lastly, I do not tolerate trolling. If you need a definition, please look here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll One of our former members, Enrique (escanlon) put together a very good terms and conditions for our site and I think it hits home right now. Please take a look and remember, he died at a very early age. I cannot see him, talk to him, nor can I insult or thank him. He would appreciate this thread I'm sure. When you guys are beating each other over the head, remember "life is short." Treat each other with respect because you don't know if you'll see that guy again. Mike

1970 Z432 For Sale - California
Hey guys, this is a great argument but can you carry on a healthy conversation? This means no direct attacks to a person (or persons). Argue all you want about the CAR or the crazy prices they are asking (for this car especially). Thanks. m

1970 Z432 For Sale - California
Hey guys, yes I've unbiasedly hidden a few posts in this thread. Please keep in mind that any post should be on-topic and not intended to attack or cause a fight (trolling). Please consider that I have a life and cannot police all topics and posts. I only focus on the posts that are a violation of our ethics and conditions of use. For instance, I cannot stop someone from being an arse, but, I can stop them from violating the rules. I don't have preference for anyone on this site, but, I do want to make sure the overall subject matter remains on topic. And, if you are typing something and think a keyboard and a monitor are enough to protect you from a punch in the nose, please don't post it. Lastly, please don't take our site into the realm of zcar.com land. Ad revenue might increase as more people jump into the fight, but, I really don't want our little place in history to be known as an unfriendly place. This would devastate me because I've managed to keep this place going for over 20 years. Thanks, Mike

Mystery switch?
But, I still keep wondering about the momentary thing. An alarm is either on or off. Maybe it's a kill switch for a motion detection device? Meaning, if you wanted to set your alarm, but, disable the motion detection.. (I had a BMW that used to always alarm while I was on a ferry boat, only later did I figure out you can set the alarm to ignore the motion detection)

Salvage Title Car
Salvage title probably isn't an issue on a classic unless you want to restore and sell it for top dollar. But, for a fun project, it shouldn't be a deterrent. I typically shy away from salvage titles on newer cars because it affects the resale opportunities. m

theft prevention
Has anyone considered this kind of solution? Seems like a very simple theft deterrent. However, I would think disconnecting the battery totally would cause memory loss on any electronics in the cabin.

I just ran across a cool device put together by a fellow Datsun fanatic. @ron carter is the sales director for this company that provides a GPS tracking system for classic cars. Check it out! http://www.geoskyalert.com/
