  1. Greg, that is a full cover and not a Vintage Dash I am assuming... Looks nice, and passed dreaded heat test.
  2. I would say that should work, unless someone else has a better solution. Don't forget to re-install the important heatshield that protects the pcv hose when you get to that point in assembly.
  3. The block breather tube is simply a interference or press fit John. How loose does it fit in the block? Glad you made it back, hopefully safely amid all the mayhem of late...

I think you are mostly right if you mean the separate welt / weatherstrip the earlier cars had. All the aftermarket stuff is the combined type. However, once in a while the NOS door weatherstrip shows up. I found 2 sets three years ago, sold one and kept one for my 71 z car.

I have the oem hatch gasket (its cost is reasonable), and last fall, installed a new windshield with the precision gasket. Quite happy with the result. Right now, the windshield oem gasket is under $300 and if I was doing it now. would go that route. It was well over $400 when I did mine.
  6. Maybe Cody would loan you the Goon...
  7. Branson event in the covid era. Every year at this time, Branson hosts Zfest, a fun fun event with great driving roads, lots of food & beverages. This time around, it was of course cancelled, however a rebel group was rumored to hold a informal Z get together. MikeW decided to make the trek from Austin to cure a case of cabin fever, and with that, it put me over the edge to go for a few days. I figured if he was coming all the way from Texas the least I could do was drive the 120 miles and join him. We had a great time, about 20 people and 15 Z cars were there. The area's venues are closed, our hotel was lightly occupied, and we bought our own food, barbecued our ribs, burgers, chicken and brats. We went to no restaurants, and only visited a supermarket for additional supplies once. Among those in attendance were Chris and Robbie from the ZCCA. The 350, 370z was the strongest in numbers. MikeW brought his current 260z project and we had the only S30's present. Can't wait to see how he transforms that car in the near future. Thanks Mike for a great time and keeping me fed! Mikes latest 260 project, what carbs are those? @Captain Obvious would know they are webers, @Zup would hope for flat tops ....
  8. I totally agree. I should have added to my post, but forgot, "when you think the pieces are clean, do it three more times..."

Big thanks as well!! I have the 61196 set, will check in my garage / shop to see is the 6 tons are the 61197.
  10. To add to what Greg talked about, fwiw, I refinished the interior plastics on a high budget black pearl restoration last summer for a local club member. He chose the Sem products and his intent is for this car to challenge the Gold Cup at the upcoming Zcon. The interior is black so of course there is not a huge challenge to match seats etc. If you go this route, the key to results is ..... the Sem Soap, it is the first step. Actually the 2nd for me because I washed all the panels etc with Dawn before starting the Sem process. There is also the plastic and leather prep which is used after thee soap. Turned out very, very well. The old adage, "its all in the prep" is ultra true here...

Nope, no O2 sensor on the 77, not until the ZX. You need a second nut if its missing to seal the exhaust or screw in a sensor. With a wideband O2 sensor installed, you can monitor the air / fuel ratio of the running motor throughout the rpm range. Nice to know if running too lean, 14.7 is considered ideal. Here is the gauge without the O2 plugged in.

Can't beat that deal! If they work out, I can loan you a PLX wideband o2 kit with gauge to see what your afr is when you get the motor in.
  13. The bolsters are the outer upper and lower parts of the seat back and bottom, closest to the door and tunnel, that try to wrap around you when sitting in the seat. They are just foam & cover material, the metal frame is further inside the seat structure. If the car is actually driven, as opposed to a garage queen, they tend to take it in the shorts on the driver side as you tend to slide across the seat and brush against the back bolster getting in and out of the car. This is where higher quality material, leather likely pays off.
  14. If your goal is to be true to originality, option 1 is the way to go. A long time member who lives close to me spent the time about 3 years ago restoring and sorting a set of flat tops for his 73. He has had no issues since as far as I know and has no regrets on the move. Maybe he will chime in @Zup Option 2 is of course the easy solution and can be done for much less is you source a roundtop set for Ztherepy to rebuild. Option 3 will not get much support from members here. The side draft webers are a totally different story.
  15. I have retained rubber for most of the bushings with some exceptions. Yes, you want the 280z specific Eibachs, only change the rear isolators, the fronts are the same as the 240's. Yes, you need to pay attention to the correct front / rear installation, many before you have got them on backwards and had to reverse them. I have that setup with what many would consider and have commented, "the perfect stance". ( unless you want to go for the dragstrip funny car stance....)
  16. Looking good!! Many little cans of POR, wow. Your suspension choice is good, I have the Eibachs with Iluminas and like them. Koni's can get expensive, depends on your budget... If you lower it, don't forget to replace the rear isolators with the 240 version - they are shorter. The rears dampers make the biggest handling difference.
  17. I'll look tomorrow John and see if I have an extra, and send it off to you.
  18. It's less than 200 miles from your house to the convention hotel cliff. How can this possibly not be a safe distance to drive your Z car? I drive further than that on a nwazcc weekend drive here.
  19. Hatch & door window glass. Getting difficult to find in acceptable to pristine condition.

What happened Cliff, should have been $1700, I thought you had claimed Buddy as a dependent....

I run the Zstory Classic, sounds great, looks great, & lasts a long time. I would not call the exhaust tame & I imagine the two sound very similar. Maybe Sean Desart will comment....
  22. They come in black or red Cliff, I have the black set on my 280z.
  23. Looks like Datsun Spirit's wire set.

Congrats! Is the electric power steering the Silvermine unit?
