Looking to buy
Your budget will determine everything, especially in the 240z world. Rust & bodywork get expensive to put right. As many wise members have said, "buy the best car rust wise you can afford" Good luck with your search!

This is in OK about 13 miles from my house. Fueled 2 vehicles yesterday. Have not seen this price point for many years...

77-78 Fuel Sending Unit
Good to hear... Probably works in reverse of the contact being open or closed for the low fuel light. When you get near empty, the light will possibly go off.

L28 full rebuild assembly
Its a complete assembly, a cable with the socket for the bulb on one end and the T connector on the other end. In the pic you can see the black cable running from the broken socket to the connector on the right. I think the socket gets brittle and breaks from the heat of the bulb over time.

L28 full rebuild assembly
John, looking for the lamp / cable with T plug for the heater control panel. The socket is broken on the 280 I'm working on. Easy to remove, just the 4 screws holding the trim panel on. Lamp plugs in where the black socket is above "Fresh". Enjoy your yard adventure ...

Looking for 2 of the 280z gauge straps for the small instruments. The dash was pulled before I got the car and were lost. Needed to complete the Speedhut gauge install in the oem housings. Let me know if you have some available ....

77-78 Fuel Sending Unit
Looks compatible, not a Nissan part of course, their part numbers start with 200 for oem, 800 for aftermarket. Good for Ryan to find an aftermarket one that works. A new oem lock ring is only $5 more if you need one.

280Zoom
Thought I would share this interesting Z car I have been working on to help the owner out for the last few months. It is proudly owned by a very nice, very enthusiastic older woman 100+ miles away. I brought it up to my location in an enclosed trailer with the generous help of a good friend. It has not been running for over a year and in addition, she has had some bad experiences with some shops which took advantage of her with little results. She was referred to me by one of her relatives that lives in my area and I made the trip down her way to look it over, meet her and her husband and then agreed to bring it up to my garage. When I first talked with Joyce and I asked her about the car & herself her response was ... "I like to drive fast, and I'm all about accessories" ... The car had a number of electrical and fuel issues going on which are now mostly corrected. ( I successfully got it running, -very nicely, - this week to test some new wiring & things and will now continue on to complete or correct the other modifications and some new items. The brake system also needs some attention from sitting a long while. Some of this 75 280z features are : A beautiful ** (it pops!), very high quality 2 tone paint finish. Fresh, almost no miles Datsun Spirit stage 2 street motor, electric assisted power steering, glass body kit (not my cup of tea but she loves it, and that is all that matters). ** This paint could hang with MikeW's exceptional award winning 260z and give him a run for his money.... lol New stuff going in : new Vintage Dash with full Speedhut instrumentation, Zcar Depot Fast EFI system, numerous Skillard accessories & knicknacks , and more. Enjoy the pics, let me know what you think .... Its a fun car to work on, mostly a labor of love we all have for these cars, looking forward to see her reaction when I get her baby back to her, 280Zoommmm.....................

Thermostat Housing Gauge Port Thread Size

Thermostat Housing Gauge Port Thread Size
I am in the middle of a special project on a 75 280z, part of which is a new vintage dash with retrofitting a set of Speedhut gauges. I need to find out the type and thread size of the temperature gauge sender port on the thermostat housing. The adapter in the kit is NPT thread, diameter is close but just slightly too big. Does anyone know is the port is metric or BPT? The oil sender is BPT and I re-tapped it for NPT for the new sender, it was only 1 thread off, 27 vs 28. This is the only adapter Speedhut has that appears to be close... Any ideas or insight most welcome...

I believe you are essentially right, but parts get changed over 45 years and multiple owners.

Seats and other interior
I have had excellent results on now 3 sets of seats with interior innovations leather kits. If you use new foam, the fit is very tight on the final closure on the bottom and seat back. I had to trim the foam on the bottom, and add 2" of material on the closure of the seat back. First set is about 3 years now in my daily driver, still look great.

L28 full rebuild assembly
John ... not sure if you know this ... does the transmission you acquired have 1 hanger ear on the tail housing or 2 ? Also the speedo cog, is the bolt at the bottom or top? The close ratio gearbox has 1 hanger with the speedo bolt at the bottom.

Very nice indeed if the picture is fairly recent. Is the passenger side mirror factory installed? I hope you kept the front valance parts that the airdam replaced.

Stainless steel headers, exhausts and JDM twin-pipe mufflers.
Any news on the availability of the downpipe for those of us who have opted to keep the stock manifold and not go with headers at this time?

Restoration Unveiled Today 08.17.2019
If the problem is indeed with the small status display, you can purchase the entire instrument cluster on Ebay for likely less than a repair cost would be. If it were me, I would try to find someone with a spare cluster to borrow, easy to remove yours and one plug feeds the entire unit, test and you will know if it is the display. I have a feeling the problem may lie elsewhere.
