Ignition system points capacitors (condensers is the old school term) are made with a lug on one end to mount & ground, the other end has a wire with lug for connection to the points. They are not electrolytic caps, probably mylar. I would guess that today, they are very cheaply made and many fail for that reason.

I would start with checking to see if you have spark output from the HEI conversion. Eurodat describes how this can be easily done in his HEI conversion thread.
  3. If the sale goes thru, the buyer will end up paying $25,600 (auction company has a 10% buyer premium) ... Hopefully the buyer was able to inspect it prior to the sale.
  4. I always thought that ZDDP content in the 1200 to 1400 ppm range was ideal. VR-1 comes in about 1040 ppm, lower than I thought.

  6. https://www.automotivetouchup.com/touch-up-paint/datsun/1971/all-models/ Although 905 is not listed for 70, 71 model years, worth giving them a call as they might have it.

  8. Just complete the fp and vacuum tests and go from there. Dave is right, replace that boot...
  9. Good job. Yes, the 78 fuel pump circuit was moved to the oil pressure sender, likely working correctly if car starts & runs. I would leave the afm cover alone, probably ok and may void warranty if tampered with. There is a later 1980 efi bible which covers some of the subtle changes since 75 or the 78 factory shop manual. Use some starter fluid or similar and with car idling, spray around afm rubber boot & listen for idle rpm change. If leaking & allowing in unmetered air, idle will speed up. Also spray around injector seals & vacuum lines listening for change. Fuel pressure should be about 28 lbs at idle, vacuum about 18"
  10. Very nice (except for the heat) but no dyno results?

With the key in the ON or Run position, and the car not running, the red charge light should be On. Check the battery cables for looseness or corrosion inhibiting current draw, start car with jump from another car battery, see if it starts normally.
  12. http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/efisystem/280zfuelinjectionbook.pdf Has the fuel tank been drained, look for signs of rust particles in old fuel? Fuel filer replaced? Afm to throttle body boot replaced? Clean all efi connections & grounds in engine bay. A manifold vacuum test & fuel pressure test would tell you alot. Good luck with going thru system. It is simple, just be methodical going thru it.
  13. Sounds great!

Take pictures & label any wiring that isn't obvious where it goes. Seats out is a very good idea. (easy with 280 seats) Dash looks great buy the way....
  15. I would be interested in a plate & plugs if still available.

If there is enough demand, Ryan @zcardepot.com might be interested in doing it. He has other 3D printed parts in his inventory.

If I had the tracking number, maybe I could drive down to Little Rock and intercept it as it goes by. My dash probably has more cracks the yours Dave ...
  18. Was that one of the dash covers from the previous shipment they got that was not quite up to their selling standards and sold to you at a discounted price? If so, is it the fitment of the small gauges that was the issue?
  19. I vote to re-use your best bolts. I assume you are on a budget for this rebuild and although nice to have the new bolts, especially the turbo version, I think you will be fine after you chase the block threads. You don't want to unnecessarily cut into the mico brew summer budget. Mike however may deduct 10 reputation points from you per used bolt.

There were 12 cars on display and I believe the book was being sold for $30 It was great to see them all together. One is being driven by the owner & his daughter to San Francisco. They departed on the trip Sunday.

My order from Sean Desart arrived safely so last weekend I replaced the muffler & S pipe with 2 pieces of the Z Story S30 system. When the downpipe is available to mate up with the stock manifold, I will order the remaining pieces to complete the exhaust system. I also purchased a stainless resonator and an adapter to go from 2 to 2 1/2 inches. My great neighbor across the street let me use his lift and mig welded a new resonator and the 2" to 2 1/2" reducer, or increaser in this case to adapt to the stock system. Everything fitted up great, the quality is beyond excellent, and the sound of course very pleasing. Nice burble at idle, and beautiful note going up thru the gears and highway speeds. Can't wait to get the rest of the system, hopefully next spring. Will do a video with sound clip when I have a chance. Thanks @Sean Dezart for making available a great product!
