  1. Just wanted to say congrats on the auction purchase & welcome, great looking car!

Very nice looking one owner 260! Your dad took great care of it. If your dad has kept any documentation of the service history of the car, that's a big plus. Also the original paperwork, owners manuals. It appears to be an early 260z which is the most desirable. Bring A Trailer - web site for sale of classic & unusual cars gets great traffic. Take a look at the 73 orange 240z that sold on there Thursday for an idea of pictures and description you need. Ebay is another option. What is the paint code of the car? Should be on a sticker in front of the radiator. Good luck with sale! Do you have a sale price in mind yet?

Here it is .... Lot 2078, it sold for 24,750 last Friday according to their site http://www.auctionsamerica.com/events/feature-lots.cfm?Order=price&feature=&collection=&grouping=&category=&SaleCode=AF16&ID=r0566 The 73 240 has a 5 speed, & the earlier carbs. In other news of interest, (to me) the auction also had a 75 280z 2+2 Lot 2158 that sold for ..... wait for it ........ 24,475! Wow

If I remember right, the insulation was part of a service bulletin that the dealers applied when the cars came in for service. Someone can correct me if I am wrong.

Nice to see one with the flat tops still intact. Should do well. Currently 13K

Looks really great, what a fantastic years worth of work! "Ignition:- Original points still in place for now " Interesting that you have retained the points in the ignition system, I was recently discussing his points fired 73 with Zup, and we wondered how many cars there were on ClassicZ still running this technology. Well Jim, it appears there is at least one other besides you.
  10. Attended the 5th annual charity car show here in Prairie Grove Saturday with Zup. A very nice event with some gorgeous cars all across the spectrum represented. Nice turnout on a beautiful day with about 80 to 90 cars. The import section was dominated by myself & Zup (the only 2 imports). When the votes were all tallied .... appreciation of the judges for Zup's beautiful Zilver 240 took 5th Place! Congrats Jim! (and thanks for the victory beer) A highlight of the show, was meeting Duane, a owner of a very nice modified 55 Chevrolet sedan. he is a very knowledgeable guy, and raced against Paul Newman back in the day. His car I believe won Best in Show. Zup & Duane (Old School but reliable theft deterrent)
  11. Do both headlights consistently flicker at the same time or just one?
  12. I agree, that would have been the route to go to solve the fitment problem in the dash area. Hopefully the new system lines can be adapted to it. What about the blower Jai? Did the new system retain the factory one? This would probably be a good candidate to consider the Honda blower motor upgrade.
  13. Nice job! Your ash tray looks great, is that a paint you used or a natural finish?
  14. Hey Mark, by coincidence, I am in the midst of resurrecting my 77 AC system, waiting on delivery of a vacuum pump to draw down the system. Prior to last week, my z car AC knowledge was minimal but I read the manual and am now smarter. The main components for a functional factory system are : Compressor Condenser Receiver/Dryer with its high pressure switch Evaporator with its expansion valve In addition are the vacuum components with its storage tank controlling the dash doors & the fast idle actuator.
  15. From the last picture, it appears to be a manual shift car. Sad to see it suffer that kind of damage, one of my biggest fears.

It is owned by Scott M, a very private gentleman who moved up here, with his extensive Z car collection last year from the Dallas area. He is a good friend of @jfa.series1 and was a major member of their Z car club in Dallas. Jim A probably knows that car fairly well. I believe it is an authentic numbered car. Myself & Zup have had the pleasure of visiting with Scott on three occasions. Next time we go over there, I will ask him for permission to take a few pictures of the Scarab & post them here. He has mentioned that he will join the discussions here, and would be a valuable member.

I agree it went higher than I thought it would, but it is an authentic numbered factory scarab as opposed to the kit you could buy from them and create your own. i think it helped that there were 2 buyers that really wanted it at the end of the auction. There are not many around & few that survived complete. Although there is a very nice one just north of me in the Springdale area ...

Looking great! Is that windshield PPG? If so, would you mind sharing what the cost was. I wish you could get those windshields without the blue tint at the top.
  19. Very nice trick modification. I too will add this to my list of stuff to do.
  20. Would not Whitehead Performance in the Toronto area be one of the premier Z experienced shops to consider?
  21. I did Charles, but it was worth it to get it back on the road .... Quite a refined rocket z car, that's for sure.
  22. Worked on prepping the hatch and it's glass for a new window seal. The factory seal is getting very hard & beginning to let rain water in a bit. Was pleasantly surprised that there was only a small area of surface rust on the bottom underside of the channel for the seal. Fortunately for me, thanks to Zup, I have a spare cream colored Z car to run around in while I work on the orange car.
  23. Thanks for the pictures & story Captain O. Looks like a great adventure, glad you made it back safe. Car looks great! How did you like the Captain Drinkable ?
