  1. Very glad you are feeling more comfortable about the saga with your motor Matt. A shame that for the kind of dollars you spent, that the communication was not far better.

This looks interesting, and has potential... https://seattle.craigslist.org/est/cto/4837362956.html

I just may be there for the Friday & Saturday part of the show... Might be in AR this summer. James S

Must mean there is no sign of that rebuilt head coming back.... But now, you might have a P90. Just bolt it on, you'll be back on the road in a couple of hours.

Does the car still have the stock points distributor or is it upgraded to electronic ignition? Maybe if electronic, an intermittent or failing module. If so, does the problem mainly appear when motor is warmed up?

Beautiful car. Thanks for the update...
  7. I replaced my hatch seal with one from the Sportage. Has worked well for 4 years.
  8. Kano's Kroil is the best penetrating oil I have used. Some have used acetone / transmission fluid in a 50 50 mix with good results.

Very, very nice lift! Is it a worm gear that moves is up & down? Wish I was getting that for Christmas....
  10. Jay would like it if it was "original & unrestored". He gave a nice nod to the 240 in his latest SM600 video.
  11. AEM 30-4110 wideband O2 comes with interchangeable face plates & the weld in bung, for $25 more. A nice addition for a turbo car with a tunable with an EMS.
  12. Looks fantastic. All that elbow grease paid off. Is that paint 918 or 110? Are you going to replace the mirror with an original?

And a 1 cent stamp. Those were the days. Thanks also.
  14. There is a very clean, red, 82k miles one in the Roanoke area, not too far from you I think. Unfortunately its a automatic. I know you want the 5 speed. On craigslist & ebay - $6750 with no bids. Just shows there are some promising ones out there.

Good job Geoff! I can't believe they don't have a head they can cross ship for you, maybe one with an internally oiled cam. Did you ever do anything with your clutch... (remember a helper is but a IM or phone call away)
  16. Sorry it didn't work out well, but good that you were thorough and passed on them. Now you have a good idea of what to look for. Maybe some trusted members within a reasonable distance can check others out for you as you find them.
  17. The vented part of the cowl area should be a plastic section held in by screws. The surrounding metal area is not removable unless you cut it out. I don't think overall the S130's rusted any worse than the 1st gen cars, just in some different places. (spare tire well, front of the hood) The T tops added another area where water can get past the seals and start rust. Maybe because they are newer, there are more of them still running around on the road, not well maintained, which makes them seem like they are more prone to rust.
  18. Very nice! Is that rear carpet from motorsport? Any sign on the return of your motor?
  19. Yes, I think those rails get flattened by years of going up on shop lifts with the pads in the wrong places. I think almost all the zx's I've looked at have had that issue.
  20. Sounds like you're doing a thorough job checking them out. Better luck on the red car.
  21. If the cold start valve system is actually working (7th injector mounted on the intake), the motor is in tune, and the charging system / battery is up to snuff, it should start. If the AAR is working properly, it should idle without your foot on the gas pedal. From my past trips to Chicago in the winter, it gets very cold there.
  22. Good luck on your road trip Sarah. (I wonder what car she took, maybe the 78...)

Always liked those snowflake stock wheels. They look great on the black turbo car.

Getting serious about that turbo car... Out of interest, what did they want for instrument cluster? I'm going to guess you got a great deal. That speedo is highly sought after.

They look more sporty & stylish than the pedestrian looking ZX seats. Other than that, there are better choices.
