I check mine every year out of habit. Got down to 12 F last night here. When I lived in the Denver area, it got down to -30 during the winter of 85. Had just bought a new Nissan 4x4 pickup. Struggled to crank but it started to get me to work. Was a lineman for a cable company in Rochester NY as well before then and actually worked outside in that kind of weather. Those were the days .... Stay warm, those in the north.
  2. Wish you were closer to me than about 200 miles and in the winter, I'd come have a look at it. Verify spark when it's cranking, get a long screwdriver or some kind of listening tube to put against your ear & each injector, again while someone cranks it to check the injectors are clicking. Double check the firing order of the wires. (153624) Pull a couple of plugs to see what they look like as others have mentioned. Could be something as simple as a worn ignition switch good in the start, but not working in the run position when you release the key. Easy to unplug and temporarily change. If necessary, depending on what you find, I can send you a good spare I have to eliminate that possibility.

If there was an "optional" electric fan, it worked in conjunction with the factory AC system, to move more air thru the condenser. My 77 has one, it is aftermarket, installed by the original owner.
  4. Didn't I see you & Zup borrow those 2 helmets from the PLN car in the hotel lobby prior to the trip up there....

Have a safe trip John. Best of luck refreshing that 77 beauty!

To maximize your return, consider selling them individually. Many times, only one side is needed.
  7. I like that! Few car enthusiasts can say that they hit a higher speed going to Road Atlanta than on Road Atlanta. You're tough to keep up with Jim, thanks for a great week!
  8. Great video Steve. Thanks for finding the time and energy to do that.

Watching this with interest.... Would love to fix the only remaining non-functioning accessory on car. Zup & I discussed this at length a few times, when he gets back this weekend, I'll get him to jog my memory of the details. Good luck Dave!

Have not heard from him in quite a while, however, he was on here about 3 weeks ago. I also hope he is ok & nothing bad has happened to him or his 78 Z car. Mark Maras may know more ...
  12. That is fantastic Mark, be great to see you again! Let us know what day you & Kathy arrive.
  13. I agree with Av8ferg , but would offer 3k to 3500 and go up from there. Plenty of help on here for the simple efi system, no problem there. The rear hatch area appears solid, which is great. Looks like 110 color to me. Here is a 2 for 1 picture for you Cliff, me and a well known 73 240z....

Did you use new foams for the seats? You were correct to use wire inside the seam where the cord runs. Since I have completed 2 sets of the same leather seat covers, I am interested to know if you also ran into a problem with the material being too short to close the rear of the bottoms & the seat back. If you did not use new foams, I can see it being easy. Yes, more pics... Hope you put the seat heaters in while they were apart, it gets cold in Layton Utah....?
  15. Zcardepot has replacement battery trays in 14 gauge mild steel or stainless... https://zcardepot.com/catalog/product/view/id/1770/s/battery-tray-bracket-stainless-steel-240z-260z-280z.html/category/341/
  16. The stock 77 seats are all vinyl. Your seats appear to be aftermarket. Any of the earlier covers should fit. You can get new excellent repro door cards in black from Zcardepot.
  17. I have a mini 12v compressor with the spare. Test inflated it 3 or 4 years ago, seemed fine for emergency's, but one day will probably go the Captain's route.

They should be all the same. You can get the from Orielys - made by Sealed Power.

You have the KD spring compressor which makes it easy. The valves next to the cam towers are awkward to get the compressor positioned right, but it works. Hopefully your valves all seal well to make your compressed air do the job, always used the rope myself. You will likely find the old seals are distorted and possibly oval instead of round. Remember to cover the valley of death area where the timing chain / front cover is with a shop towel or similar to prevent dropping something down there, making for a much longer job. Good luck & hope it reduces the oil consumption...
  20. A great event this year! The weather was hot and so was Team Wodopian and their green 260z. Mike W took home first place in modified 260/280 and....... Best in Show. Nice job Mike! Team Wodopian's 5 man crew were sporting matching pit crew 260z shirts. All members of Mike's family from far and wide. First place in stock 240's went to Zup's beautiful flat top powered 73. Big congrats Jim! Jim's 3 person crew also has matching Zup approved shirts but Zupette & Tavish did not arrive in time to qualify for full team credit. Scott M. took 1st place in the hotly contested 280 stock division with his very clean red car. I think it was his new seats that put him over the top! Amid all the activity, he managed to sell 2 cars sight unseen (not to Cliff), a creampuff 280zx and his 810 goes to the new Nissan Heritage Museum. Another win for the NWA Club was Kent who took home 2nd place with his nice 71 in 240z modified. As a side note, you know you are at a great z car experience when even a pizza ordered from Domino's gets delivered in a 350z! (no joke) To add international flavor to the event, 2 couples, one from Europe and the other from Australia were in attendance. They were all just great people. Rudy & Irena were from Belgium. Rudy has a restoration shop that specializes in early Mustangs and vintage Z's. He really knows his stuff. From Brisbane Australia we met James & Judy. James is an active rally driver and loves the z cars. Judy won'''t navigate for him because she says ... they fight too much, lol. We all had a great time with these wonderful fun people. Mike W has a project car brewing and some of his discarded 73 parts he brought up to bestow on Zup. (see below) The big news of course was the ZCCA was in attendance and announced that Zcon 2019 will be in ................... Branson, yes Branson and will feature the indoor judged car show at the convention center. Since will be in July that is great news. A great week filled with fun drives through the twisties, food, beverages and great conversation. We were all sad to see it come to an end. Mike W & his son Alex pose with Best in Show One mans trash is another mans treasure ... Zup with Rudy & Irena from Belgium Run up to Table Rock Dam side emblem on gnose 350z
  21. Amazingly, there is a chrome shop 6 miles away from me in Lincoln, Whitworx Fine Metal Finishing. Been in business for 40 years. Around $1000 for both bumpers. Zup had his 240 bumpers done there 3 years ago, look great & he has been happy with them. The price make those reproductions look very attractive though.
