  1. I like your utilization of essential household items to rest the head on. Must be Bud Lite on hand for Sundays big game.

Any update on this interesting find Mark ...
  3. What about the change from the 9 to 10 pin harness connector that the 77 / 78 280's have? Can Dave's parking light harness just be re-pinned at that end to utilize the 10 pin connector? That at least gets the parking / dash lights upgraded with relays.
  4. Looking at the latest Hagerty valuations for the 240z ... 2015 was a very good year! A near 20k uptick for condition 1 cars across the board. This should make an owner I know in Richardson TX and two guys here in NW AR pretty happy.
  5. Not sure what you mean by spring tensioner Jai. Are you referring to the piece on the end of the lock assembly that turns with the key and connects to the door mechanism? Also, you do not need to use the key to lock the door, if you push down the lock pull at the top of the door & then hold the door handle up as you close the door, it should lock. I always do this to save the wear & tear on the lock and the key. Just don't leave the keys in the car when you do this.
  6. Good idea Chas. My 6/77 vin 404578 car has the same bolt pattern & single slot on the rear.
  7. Feb 20 at the Peterson Museum. This would make for an interesting Jay Leno's Garage episode. Mr. Leno has a great relationship with the Peterson. I hope some local LA County classiczcars members can attend. Thanks Mike for putting that in the upcoming events!
  8. Another welcome to the club! I think MSA had a winter sale on chains.

The very same from me Sarah, all the very best of luck.

Also, I think as a general rule, the Series 2 cars started around vin # 20000.

I hear the lilting sound of dueling banjo's now when I read this thread ....
  12. Thanks for the video! (those female Datsun rally fans really new how to root on their favorite cars ....)

PM sent ... Thanks for taking the time to post the pix Mark, looks like alot of parts are in great condition.
  14. Helped Zup relocate his pristine twin unnaturally aspirated, super HICAS Z32 down to the south Z car garage - Prairie Grove division. It will undergo some injector therapy & a little tlc as well as keeping the silver 71 240 company during its refresh.
  15. This battery cover available from 240zrubberparts.com would be helpful to disguise the new battery. Likely correct for the 72 model year.

Another vote for you to pick up the car Mark .... PM sent on some parts

Interested in the passenger side inspection lid. PM sent.
  18. Nice job! Love that squeaky clean engine bay. Looking forward to the roar on fireup.
  19. When you went thru the troubleshooting, did the test between the coil negative terminal & pin 1 of the ecu connector shown good continuity? This is the all important pulse signal that fires the injectors. When you rebuilt the car, did you make any changes, upgrades or modifications to the ignition system, etc.? What year is the car, from the hood looks like 77 or 78? (oops, just re-read the title - 77)
  20. Wow, three very nice inspection lights. If you mount all three ... you can say you are running triples Best of luck on the motor work, must be your winter project.
  21. Hello & welcome. As long as the replacement dash is the correct one for the 71 model year you have, it can only enhance the value of the car. I comes down to a decision for you depending on your skill level of refurbishing the dash or available budget for a dash shop to do the job or for you or to find a pristine (and difficult to find) perfect replacement. A refurbished dash done by a reputable shop will quickly approach 2k. If you look at the interior threads here, many members have documented the repair process, and achieved excellent results doing it themselves. Fwiw, myself, I would probably look for a decent 71 dash on craigslist (from the PNW states where the dashes have rarely seen the sun) repair it at my leisure, and then swap it. Then repair the original dash & keep it as a spare. Until this is done, I would just buy an inexpensive dash cover (the carpet type) to get by in the short term. Some pictures of the current dash would be helpful for experienced members here to evaluate & steer you in the right direction.

That repair panel is available from MSA for 149.95 http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic02o03c/30-7291
  23. Looks pretty good! Congrats I love happy endings ...

Hey Comet Very best of luck to convince your parents. All great advice has already been given, so I will just add ..... don't let any of your boyfriends, current or future drive your Z car .... for at least 15 years.
