Painting my 260z
Well I started painting my 260z I couldnt afford real paint so I did the $50 paint job that I came across on the internet and so far I must say it dosent look to bad. Iam only to coat 3 but boy it sure shines compared to my old blue paint job. Yes the seals around the windshield were painted but Iam buying a new seal that my friend said he would install sence he works in the windshield repair business( for free yay ). Hope it turns out good but from what I can see so far its gonna look nice once it is cut/and polished up. Here is a slideshow of the car so far please dont hate to bad on me :paranoid: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v202/jlnuna/cars/260z/?action=view¤t=84888c99.pbw

well it might fit on the very top of the lug end but not all the way in these locks are pretty much where the top is flush with the rim.

Arne, I ment he is trading his mustang II for my rims not that they would fit a mustang II sorry I didnt make myself clear. Startin to get discourged with this Z seems I cant get a break. Iam gonna try all your guys ideas somthins gotta give . wheel help
I can not get vise-grips on it because they are the short lug nut style. They stick out like maybe 3/8 of an inch beyond the surface of the rims. I knew they were Gorilla brand. I just didnt know how many different key options there were. Will they sell a lock set to just anyone? Wouldn't that defete the purpose of locking lug nuts to keeping people from stealing your rims?! As for the local tire shop, I live in the sticks. The closest town is 45 miles away and that shop is a ringy-dink shop anyways. I will contact some factory reps in the next couple of days. Thanks for all the help.

wheel help
They are the acorn style lug nuts so there isnt much room to get in there with a strap and I am concerned about making a notch because of the lack of clearance. I do not want to ruin the rims because I have them sold to a guy for his mustang II. Here is a pic. Perhaps I could call some place like Summit and inquire about the number of 'codes' or 'patterns' that are available. The most viable suggestion so far is to trash up to 4 sockets. Thanks guys keep the suggestions coming....I will give 'er a try!

wheel help
I got ready to remove my rims and there is some kind of locking lug and I have no tool for it . The lug has like grooves cut out on the lug. I need a way to get it off so I can remove my rims I cant drive the car to a tire shop because the motor and trans are removed but my new rims are coming . Any help or ideas would be great.

Have any ran these
I want to have a good strong sounding exaust no ricy crap or to muffled down. Ok I didnt know you can do that with the blue plate they dont even give you that option up here in the sticks.

Arne, The Monza tip looks very nice I bet it sounds good, the opening on my 260 valance looks just like the 240 I believe. Its nice to see you got to keep the old Oregon plate here they make you turn them in and pay a buttload of money for the new plates. BTW that is a beautiful 240 nice and straight and clean . Mine Iam in the process of being painted High gloss white.

Have any ran these
How close is the comparison of the rear valance on an early model 260z and a 240z. I never got a chance to drive my 260 before I started doing the modifications to it so I never heard the smacking of the exaust . I didnt care for the stock exaust sound it seemed very restricted and I feel this motor should have a more freeflowing exaust to get its full preformance. Correct me if Iam wrong which wouldnt suprize me . Sence Iam doing some modes to the car I could change the valance opening if needed. I just want to make sure that its not screaming loud because the cops here are very anal about loudness issues.

need some input
the indents on the side I welded a plate in and sealed them up so there gone. I saw the rear skirt bumper I thought it was total cheese looked ricey to me I hate the ricer scene we have them here stupid kits and exaust pipes you could store stuff in . I havent thought of the 240z bumper idea. Would that look good or would it still be weak looking. The car by no means will be a daily driver so I guess the fumes wouldnt be an issue. Can someone post a diagram that shows how to hook up the lines on a fuel cell my stock tank had so many lines on it Iam confused on how to hook them up. Is there a certain fuel line I can buy that would cut down on the vapor? Do I really need all the lines that are inside of the car? Sorry for the stupid questions just not sure. Thanks Jonathan

Wll I spoke with my doctor this morning also (he is also a gearhead) he said a fuel cell would be a bad idea because of the venting and vapor issues and with my health condition to think of something else. So Iam asking for help from you guys to help me think of a way to change the rearend of my 260z because Iam about as creative as a swirling turd when it comes to actual working ideas. Most of mine are visual but no idea how to get to that point( seeing and doing are 2 different things). SO please help give me some ideas. here is what I have ordered so far Kaminari air dam, fender flares, Bre rear sproiler, clear headlight covers. I have no rear bumper so that is why Iam trying to make the backend not look so weak compared to the stuff iam doing. I also just ordered Ebachi pro springs for giving it a lowered stance. Thanks Jonathan

For those who have spent serious money in rebuilding their Z
I could only dream of having a Z car as beautiful as some I have seen on this forum. The 74 260 I have is the first Z I have ever had I traded my 1990 325i convert for this 260 and so far I have put over 1k which is alot for me as Iam disabled and unable to work to bring it the kind of money you guys have invested in your cars. But even if I only have that much into mine I feel it is worth every penny because I have done the work myself and I love the look and lines of the Z car.
- I Just got ANOTHER 240Z, she's gonna kill me!!

IdahoKidd, I cant daily drive anymore due to medical problems so my wife is basicly the one that drives me anywhere. The whole reason I got the Z was to give me something to do sence I cant work anymore either I was going stir crazy being stuck at home all the time. I was going to try to restore but alot of the car is not original so I decided to just change things .

Arne, I have been thinking and mocking up all day and I think shock holes looks the best so far. I am contemplating removing the tire well and re welding it flush metal for more room but just a thought so far. Today I ordered new front Kaminari air dam, fender flares, Bre rear sproiler, clear headlight covers so its a start. IdahoKidd, thanks for the input but really a fuel cell isnt very exspensive unless you go custom tire well then it adds up. Ztrain, that inside looks awsome I love the cage and cell looks sweet

I guess the way I look at a vehicles at car shows and in pictures is...first I notice the overall stance. Is it saying muscle car? Is it saying sleek? Then I look at the front end. It has to match what the stance is saying for the car to be in balance. Then I look at small details that also estetically enhances the message the car is giving. If a car has all of these details in balance, that is what catches my eye. And since I am running a bumperless front end I need to do the same in the back which leaves it too weak so I have to do something to dress it up. Here are 2 concepts I photoshoped not the best but oh well Feel free to show me your concepts if you wish. this one is ok this one is poopie concept *The picture is not mine got off car domain *
