1975 fairladyz
thanks for all the info guys, I did tell him that I went on the internet and googled the heck out of fariladyz gtr and found nothing. He's still swearing up and down its a racing version.... As I mentioned the car looks very clean, I'll have to look at the flares and rear panels more closley for body work...the wheels I don't mind, the tale's gotta go. It is certainly NOT a car for a diehard z collector I know that. buyer beware for sure. as far as price goes, I've checked that out too...in Ontario (Canada remember) I've found decent looking daily drivers for around 6-8k. (nothing fancy - cars that appear original) I've also found decent looking daily drivers on ebay etc from the southern states for around the 2 or 4k that many of you refer to as a decent price. I've never found any z cars that I would want to go near in my area for less than $7500. - Keep in mind I've only been looking for a short time. though. Not sure if its due to different demographics, our northern climate, or the fact that you rarely see an older z on the road...maybe all of the above. Maybe its worth the drive to florida to save a few grand I'll keep looking around, told this guy I wasn't interested in buying anything until early summer...we'll see if the car is still there and if I'm still interested in it. Trying to buy with my head. I'll keep researching and cruising this site to see what I can learn...and looking at other cars as I find them. I've got lots of time! Right now I've got two small kids a wife and a dog...a Z car is totally un practical....but thats what makes it fun! One way I've learned to buy anything is to take your time. thanks All.

ok got some pics. sure enough its a 1975 280z with farilady badges, as well as a gtr badge. Owner still seems to think their original but i have doubts (from your info) converted rear drums to maxima disc brakes, original mechanical fuel injection, factory headers, aftermarket wheels and racing seats. probably not the ideal car for a collector looking for an 'original'. biggest thing it needs is paint. not a big fan of the whale tale... comments?

thanks for the input all. My next step is to talk to him again and just see how he's representing the car. If he swears up and down its a fairlady I'll be walking away - obviously misrepresenting it, or he doesn't know himself...both cases I'm not wild about. I'll still see if I can get some pics and vin number. I'm curious (with all of your help) to find out what it actually is. If nothing else its a nice looking rig I'll give him credit for that.

is or is not worth 10k? you indicated it is worth 10k but that a daily driver down there is 2k... has fairladyz badge on the side front fenders...does that tell us anything? is that a derivative of a 240 or a 280? I only assumed 240...but as you can tell I don't know much about these cars, just that I've always admired them from afar....now I'm learing. I'll try to get some pics shortly. I'd be curious to see what you guys have to say about it one way or the other btw I'm told the injection is stock...1st year for it? thanks.

nope its left hand. I questioned the GT badge. I've never seen it. He assures me its legit and not a very common model, which is half the reason I'm on this forum. I'm no 240z expert but I've googled the heck out of a 1975 fairlyady z gt and nothing comes up. He's telling me its a 'racing version'. Bigger fuel filler (you can fit your fist in the neck), headers etc....also fuel injected...not seen that before either... no such thing as a gt model though? does the fairlady z come in a left drive, headers and a larger fuel neck, injected as any kind of model? perhaps somebody stuck the gt badge on over the years? I'll be sure to question him more on the gt badge next time I see it...any other input? thanks!

Inputs or comments on a fairlady z? One for sale up here, not completely stock as I would prefer, aftermarket wheels, seats, whale tail added. 82000 miles. a daily driver. Many upgrades, electrical upgraded, new fuelpump, nissan disc brake upgrade in the back, suspension powdercoated. fuel injected. restored 15yrs ago and babied ever since. a GT model...never seen that? Seller lost his job and needs the cash....(big layoffs with a major employer up here so I beleive him) so not a car for the enthusiast who likes 'orignal' but very nicely put together...any input? comments? concerns? He's asking about $10k canadian....seems like a lot of $$?
