Well, now I HAVE seen it all.
  2. Outstanding. Looks about 3 feet deep.

Did anyone happen mention that you can put the t-stat in water with a thermometer How unlucky for the responders; three replies at the same time. At least the advice is consistent.
  4. Search is your friend. It's all well documented.
  5. Well I'm glad he's gone. I can't afford his cents of humor.

It's the axle shaft joints (CV joints).
  7. AJ, you may need to find a parts car. I haven't seen a Z in a yard in a long time.

Congratulations. I too fell in love with the Z when I was in college...30 years ago.
  9. Valves are at the top of the engine, oil sits in the bottom of the pan. No need to drain the oil. By the time you get to the last valve, you'll be an expert and will want to recheck them all.
  10. Might as well just replace them all, they're inexpensive. Yes, drop the pan and you will have easy access.

I was thinking of that, but wouldn't that result in a wide swing in rpm's? It would certainly make a clanking noise. I was thinking that it might be one of the linkage arms or possibility the flapper valve on the airbox.

If you have power at the battery, bench test the starter to determine if the unit functions.

Can you post a video of the slapping in action?
  14. Gary in NJ replied to Jeremy Mizerak's post in a topic in Carburetor Central
Are there any rpm fluctuations associated with the slapping?
  15. Welcome. I like the cars in your signature, with the exception of the MPV. But we all have to deal with minivan ownership at some point.
  16. Welcome. Where in North NJ are you located. I'm in Warren County and there are few others in the NWNJ area. BTW, I can't see any of the photos.
  17. Those are some very important parts. I wouldn't mind a refresh on my radio/HV controls. I'm afraid to see the prices...

The only thing that could have made that better would be: "The 240Z concept was conceived, designed, and built by Albrecht Goertz specifically for the U.S. market."
  19. Looks like a "value added" package from a dealer. I wonder how much poor Mr. Melnick paid for that poorly constructed add-on.
  20. The stock airbox works quite well. The SU's need the airhorns that are part of the stock box to provide good flow at low rpms. You can purchase separate airhorns. Z-Therapy might have them. You will need to install nipples on the backside of the K&N mounting plate to accommodate the vent lines that were connected to the backside of the stock box. Additionally, you will need a separate breather filter on the valve cover.
  21. Careful with the rust remover, you don't want the car to disappear.
  22. Gary in NJ replied to 24 Ounces's post in a topic in Interior
My car originally came with a white interior. The PO installed a black interior and I really wish he didn't. A white interior is a unique as the car itself (more so in NJ then OR). If I was building a project from scratch (which I hope to soon), I'd choose butterscotch or tan. So white wouldn't be my first choice.
  23. Somewhere, somebody is very proud of that monstrosity.
  24. Welcome 24 Oz. I do like your car...with the exception of the vinyl top. Dealers slapped "Landau Roofs" on just about anything back in the 70's. As a teenager who loved cars back then, I would go nuts when I saw those stupid add-ons. In the 80's the Landau Roof morphed into the the more hideous "Fake Convertible". Vinyl doesn't belong anywhere on a vehicle. But I do like your car.
