Spark Plug Reading -
Dry with a tan to mocha coloration on the insulator. Look for even wear on the electrode. Old plugs don't tell a true story. Put fresh plugs in the engine and drive 25-50 miles. Review them every so often for to see if and how they change (say 200 miles and 500 miles) but beyond 500 to 1,000 miles they become a archeological dig.

stock seat broken, is a repair possible?
I bet you could easily find a used seat. Many people replace the original seats and they are very willing to unload their OEM seat(s). Check over at hybridz.com where that mod is very popular.

Hey NJ Z Members
Oh come on. Someone must be able to bust out for an afternoon. The weather looks good for Sunday too.

Do we have active members in Oregon?

Tool compartment doors
Since the passenger seat doesn't move as far rearward as the drivers seat I would venture to guess that the larger of the two belongs behind the passenger seat. The covers do not provide a perfect fit, so gaps on the side is not unusual.

Hey NJ Z Members
I see that the Z Car Club is having a get together this Sunday (November 7th) at the Green Knoll Grill near the Bridgewater Mall at noon. This is probably one of the last weekends to show our Z's before they are put away for the winter. Anybody want to meet-up this Sunday?

I saw that one on CL last night. What do you know about it?

The PO gave me wood
My guess is a home made tool that was accidentally left in place. It doesn't seem to serve any purpose.

Yes. You can see from my signature photo that the 225/50-15's fill-out my wheel wells quite nicely. However, the 260Z's sit higher then the 240Z's. As a result the 15's look a bit lost on a 260Z. Whether -16's will make contact or not on a 260 I can't tell you. I can tell you that the-15's do not make contact on a 240Z.

I stand corrected. Tirerack still has the Yokohama AVS ES100 in stock (I believe those have been discontinued) and they show a new tire by BFGoodrich in a 225/50-15 called the g-Force Sport. They also show tires by Sumitomo and Kumho in 225/50-15, but I don't have any experience with those manufacturers. Even so I'd still install 16's. I'm just glad to see that I don't have to buy another set of Panasports the next time I need tires

Welcome dawg, nice looking Z. My 240 rides well on Eibach springs and 225/50-15's. If I were to do it over, I would go to a 225/50-16 because 1) it's closer in height/circumference to the original 195/70-14, and 2) that size tire is readily available in the marketplace. Low profile 15" tires have disappeared.

Wow, Rich waited 3 years to make his first post. Moreover, your advice is spot-on.

Steering help
It could be one of many things. I'd get the car on a lift and do a good inspection on the entire suspension.

Grose Jet?
The Grose Jet is a replacement for the float chamber needle valve. They had a better valve design and were less prone to failure. They are no longer available for our Datsun-licensed SU carbs.

can anyone tell me ?
I see that you apologized to Steve, very good. I saw his reply to your post this morning and thought he asked the right question (what car) and gave you good advice about looking in the FSM. Your interpretation of his reply is was far, far, off base. This site is one of the greatest forums I've ever come across for ANY enthusiast group, and I belong to many. This site is truly dedicated to the preservation, information, performance and history of the S30. The members do not suffer fools. More importantly, the members just don't give advice, they educate. We take time to understand a problem so it can be dealt with in an efficient way. We are not customer service for Datsun. If you don't get an intimidate reply or a reply that you like, please understand that we have jobs and lives. Sometimes it is difficult to understand a request based on the information provided. The year of manufacture is important information because the S30's vary so widely between 240/260/280. I always worry about a member to a forum that has a handful of posts, asks a question and then tells a long-time member to go 'eff himself because his fragile ego was bruised. Take time to make friends with the forum members and you to may find this site an invaluable resource.

Slave cylinder issue
If the return spring is keeping the rod from extending, I thing you have a bad slave cylinder. When bleeding the system, if you are getting fluid without air, you have a well-bled system.

New seats
Please post photos of the install process. I'm sure they wont be plug and play and I would be interested in seeing how much fabrication is required to install them.

Share your thoughts - plugged return fuel line
Mitchell, Your topic has me thinking; should I check the condition of my return line? Is it safe to run a few pounds of compressed air (say, 20 pounds) through the return line to clear it of any possible obstructions? Any thoughts on this?

Intake,header,cam? and a broken wire?
Can you tell us the colors on the insulators? With that info we can look at the wiring diagram
