Is this off too much?
I ended up having to put my dizzy and pump on totally off what the FSM says to get mine timed correctly. My #1 is where the FSM puts #6 which makes it sound like something is 180° off, which it is not on the cam, and crank, just the pump and dizzy. I followed a suggestion by Zed in order to get my timing correct(I was also really really tired of pulling the pump). Car runs well now.

Windshield wiper reast position
What you can try although it's time consuming is to turn off the wipers see where they are parked, take the wiper arms off the spindles and position them in the proper park position, turn them back on and see if they work correctly. It sounds like the wiper arm is 180 out. Just my 2¢.

New to the forum, and to the Z... Va
9 injector type connectors, 1 3 pin for the TPS, 1 5 or 7 pin for the AFM all can be done in an afternoon of cutting and soldering. All my solder joints look like decent welding.

Graphite Konig Rewinds needed
I'm running Kumho Exsta(sp) 205X55X16 on Konig Graphites and they were reasonably priced tires and give a decent ride with pretty good grip. I got the tires new when I bought some new 16" rims(which in person I hated and sold after 1 week) mounted them on the Konig's which I bought off e-bay for a fair price. I do occasionally get some tire rub on the rear on sharp turns with bumps in the road, just gotta slow down a little.

Early VIN US car - $1200
IMO not worth near 12K, looks like there is a dash cap which is not that big a deal, but also looks like(hard to really tell) there is some cancer on the passenger side rocker panel. It would depend what one found in person and then make a reasonable offer.

Frustrating performance.
Yup unless it comes with the mount.

What Are These Things Falling Out Of My Vent??
Maybe a blast from an air compressor at about 125psi thru the air intake in the left front. That stuff is just weird.

Are you sure you want to drive that, might be better to just park it and admire her.

What Are These Things Falling Out Of My Vent??
Gotta remember that food that old that got poured down the vents probably has a 30 year shelf life, might be some good eats.

STILL having issues!!!
Yup gotta do some work on our tow vehicle since it now has the dreaded "death wobble." Got to replace the track bar, put on a steering box stablizer, front shocks and tie rod ends. The wrenching never seems to cease at my house!

STILL having issues!!!
Captain, I figure at least 30 days of non-stop running ought to do it! Hell, I'd be happy if it ran 5 days in row with no problems, today will be day 3 and counting!

STILL having issues!!!
Just as a way to close out this thread, I bought a GM HEI module, but I thought that before I wired it all up, I would pull the e12-80 module off and give a real close look over. I cleaned up all the connections and the ground points and then noticed that one of the connectors in the wire harness was kinda goofy looking, so I made a new wire harness and connected it up, I retarded the timing slightly to about 15-16° and voila' the car ran great, two days in a row with nary a miss or stumble, just goes to show, pay attention to the small details first. Thanks for all the help. Mike

STILL having issues!!!
Back again, took the Z out yesterday and the gremlins are back, ran OK yo to about 3500 then the tach went crazy and al kinds of stumbling from the engine. When it got warm after a 10 minute drive, the problem got worse, so I'm going to town and try to get a GM HEI module and see what happens. Wish me luck. I know I'll have to retard the timing a bit, getting some light backfires thru the exhaust. Mike

First Z purchase
That looks like the same spoiler on my Z, but mine doesn't have the same fenders, Hmmm maybe for the future. paqman, you can find Z cars in fairly good running order and looks for well within your price range, with a little weekend wrenching get it into excellent running order, doing full on resto's yourself takes lots of time and many $$. just keep on looking and you'll find the car for you and then make it truly your car. Just my 2¢.

Pervious owner nightmare thread
The PO of mine gave me a spare engine that "was just great", found out the mice had been using #6 cylinder as a porty potty and mouse pee will definitely rust the piston solid. A machine shop had to bust it out and because of the rust couldn't bore it. 500# paper weight.

Great job Haz, looks like you'll be riding shortly after this "Spring" storm blows thru. The dash looks great, wanna do mine?

My Datsun 280Z "Rustoration"
Excellent work Haz, I used a lot of Eastwood stuff when I redid my Z, their rust inhibitor products are really very good. I also used their sound deadening material and it made a world of difference. Can't wait to see the finished product. If you need it, I have a Zedd findings frame rail you can have, but maybe a little to late for this.

floor pan advice, classiz 2 current any good?
If you've got someone who'll do the job for 150, jump on it, plus you'll learn some stuff, just my 2¢.
