  1. thanks for the feedback, so do yous think i should give this one a miss then, im in ireland and the car is in england so it would involve a 2 hour drive and a one hour flight to look at it, price is £4,900 pounds. if yous could give me some idea as to the extent of the work needed and expense of sorting all the rust issues, the last thing i want is to give the car a nice paint job then a year later bubbles start appearing everywhere...
  2. Thanks Arne.
  3. ok folks this is the 75 260Z that i am thinking about buying, i hhave no experiance with car restoration so please look over these photos and give me your experienced opinions. please grade the work needed doing in regards of beeing, minor, moderate or major and what kind of expense it would likely be.
  4. ok i will repost the thread with jpeg files, thanks.
  5. i have loads more photos but had trouble uploading them, it would only let me upload 4 or 5.

  7. Thanks for all the feedback everyone. MikeW your story makes me laugh and is so true, if you dont like the weather in ireland just wait 5 minutes, that the saying. anyway the car is in the UK and the seller doesnt claim it is rust free, it has had a lot of rust work done in the past, the main parts that need attention now are the tailgate, a little bubblein at the bottom of the doors, rear bumper crome rail, etc, the wheel arches, floor and frame rails are all ok apparently? anyway he is sending me some pics of the usual trouble spots in the next day or so and i will post them up then for yous to inspect. one other question, if the underbody has all been painted and sealed how can you tell if there is anything nasty hiding underneath? any other areas that can be clevourly hiddin so viewers wont notice? the more knowledge i have before i inspect the better. Thanks..
  8. ok folks i think i have found the one, 75 260z with plenty of work done, its had a few owners who loved it very much, has had a lot of chassis work welding etc, inner arches are all new, 280 gearbox, engine rebuild, rear tailgate needs some attention (some rust bubbling). the only thing i dont like about it is it has a sunroof, although the seller claims there is no rust or leeks. has loads of receipts over the years, havnt seen it in person yet, planning a trip next week hopefully. any sugestions what i should be looking out for in particular?

actualy that included shipping to Ireland. shipping from japan to ireland is approx 800 pounds sterling.

it went for approx 6500 pounds sterling, i dont know what that is in dollors. the reason i am talking in pounds sterling is because the import agent that i deal with is based in the UK. please give me feedback on what use think of that price, bare in mind the cars was very clean for its year?

never got it guys, it went well over my budget, i guess i will have a better chance with one that isnt as clean as that, sure part of the fun is getting one that needs a bit of TLC and sorting out yourself, isnt it?

this 75z is going through auction tonight and i would like to bid, however i dont like the nose on it, is this a different model, can the nose be easily changed to the standard nose. i need feedback in the next hour or 2 before bidding closes. thanks
  16. Thanks a lot guys. i havnt actualy seen a 240, 260 or 280 in the flesh because i live in ireland, to my knowledge they dont really have a following in ireland although they do in England. My intentions are to put in an SR20DET engine and do a rear disk brake conversion, full repaint but to keep the exterior as origanal looking as possible. i know its a matter of personal preference but would i be coorect in thinking that the 2 seater models tend to have a more sleek sporty look if you are looking at them from the side? if that is the case i wiil hold out for the 2 seater option. thanks again.
  17. Hi, i am currently searching for my first z and i cant wait till i finally get one, could some one please tell me if there is any differences in the actual body shape from 72 -78. i am aware of the differences with the bumpers and the lights. is the body of the later models (2x2) slighty longer than the earlier models (2 seater)? i read in one site that the wheelbase in the 2x2 is 10 inches longer. is this true? basicaly i want to know are all zs from 72-78 exactly the same in shape and dimensions other that the bumper and lights differences. thanks.
  18. Hi folks, im from ireland and i am currently searching for my first z, a 71 - 76 240z. i have experiance importing cars from japan so that is where im hoping to buy. if anyone has any idea what i could expext to pay for a 240z that needs a bit of work from japan please reply to this thread. i have been looking at restored ones in japan and they are very expensive so that isnt an option. thanks gerryboy.
