  1. It is a good looking car. The length of the "nose" looks as if there's enough room for V-12.
  2. Maybe some pics as you perform surgery? I know its no Datsun but I like pics of engine compartments and engine surgery Good luck with it!

  5. That's amazing considering it spent some time in Nevada. Mine is a CA car as well but has quite a bit of rust because it was in Nevada for 17 years. And yes it does snow in Vegas. And freezes.
  6. They look really oily. Hardway, you burning thru oil faster than normal?
  7. Lucky! What I'm going to have to deal with soon. The "bump" Good progress man, keep it up.

I wonder just how much I've spent over the years buying those winless tickets. But I still do. No chance of winning if you don't play it.

Easy fix. You know those rolls of blue paper towels that you get from the local auto parts stores? Well I tore 1 into little strips, rolled those up and stuffed them through the threads up into the "void" and it worked. Quiet as a mouse. I couldn't believe how much of the paper towel it took!

Now you know how I felt. Happens to the best of us my friend.

Hahaha! That's funny Dave. Glad you were successful at it as well.
  13. Amen to the above. You should do a search of the particular business you speak of and do some reading. It might wizz you off even more. Get a mechanical gauge on it and then post what you have.

The only thing is is I didn't see any oil back that far. Guess I'll put her on stands and take a look.

I bet you are referring to the seal at the back of striking guide. Forget about my question above. Are these seals obtainable without having to buy a complete repair kit?

I don't recall seeing a cap on my shift knob but I will check it out. Thanks!

Trust me when I say I'm glad and surprised that it was simple

Yeah Dave I went through a lot of the same. But thank goodness its figured out, sort of. Looks like I may need a new knob, maybe. Or do like grannyknot did with Teflon tape.

Grannyknot and CO had it figured out! Yes I just got back from a quick spin and it was the knob. I removed it like CO recommended while driving it and it went away. Just to be sure I continued driving w/o the knob and no noise. Wow, I've had the console out twice and added a new crack to it!

Hmm....why didn't I think of that? I'll drive it later and see.

I have the Z stick, not the ZX. I should have mentioned that. Thanks.

Okay so I pulled the center console and removed the shift boot and tunnel cover. Saw that I put the pin in backwards. Reversed it and looked around, saw nothing that looked out of the ordinary. Took it for a drive and no noise. Couldn't be that simple. Put it back together, took it for another drive and the noise is STILL there. I have no idea what it could be. The shifter is tight, no slop of any kind. Nothing comes in contact with the shifter, under console, that I can see. It is coming from the shifter for sure. All I have to do is apply very light pressure and it goes away. Maybe with the oil on the shift boot there is something internally going wrong? See pic. Any ideas?
