Check fusible links under the 2 white covers on the passenger side. I had a loose one once that would cause the car to stall out while driving.

    Try mikeszshop.com They're in Whittier.
  3. oh yeah, duh . Completely forgot that's where you were going with this. I had a brain fart I guess. Was thinking back at the problems I had trying to locate a descent one at a descent price. Prices were all over the board.
  4. Oh yeah, still a good price. Just thought the last bid made it to 25k and thats what it sold at.
  5. What he is telling you is you should be seeing coolant leaking out not water. If you are seeing water then you have NO coolant in the system. You probably just have it, coolant, thinner than what is recommended ant it "looks" like water. Take a white paper towel and soak it up and you'll see a green tint to it.
  6. Really? The bid was at 25k. It dropped?

That's a great price! Looking for a deal like that myself so I can put my 77 on stands for an overhaul.
  8. Did something similar above to my water inlet and it worked great! Took a couple hours but worth the effort. I couldn't source a new one. NLA.

NOPE! And we have Schwarzenegger to thank for that when he was State Governor. Did away with the "Roll-over" I believe it was called. The '76 and '77 models were next to go to smog exempt until he stopped it.
  10. Yeah no matter what it's hard to find a descent hood anymore. And at a "respectable" price. I procrastinated and missed out at buying a new one from BD when they had them. I have a used one now that I'm working on (280) and its a nightmare. loudoun, there are a couple out here on craigslist in La Puente CA.https://images.craigslist.org/00707_4mztF5e5TdN_600x450.jpg Not sure how desperate you are but maybe the price will be right. Couldn't hurt to call, I guess. The white one looks pretty good with minimal surface rust. Good luck.
  11. Shipping will be the deal breaker probably. IIRC its around $100 to ship. So that would make it pricey IMHO.

Yeah if you have a 75 you are safe for now, so to speak.

How was this done? Don't remember what year 280 you have but here in CA you'll fail an emissions test with the EGR disabled. They check it on the '76 and on models. They checked function on mine.
  14. What! Its that price for 87 octane at a hand few of stations out here. Most stations, like Chevron for one, are $2.75 for the 87!
  15. Sounds like my kinda place site. Good thing you put "fuel" after the 93 octane or I woulda' thought you were talking moonshine . Wow 93. The best I get is 91 and for a few months out of the year its "oxygenated". Which is another way of saying; we just added a lot of crap to the gas! Yeah Dennis, I had to bite my tongue.
  16. I know it! I envy everyone that gets to "update" their Z's. I'm contemplating moving, not for that reason alone of course. We must have chased off "slaterboner".
  17. I used to, now I go for the easy It gets me quicker to the......
  18. I wonder if a local radiator shop would be able to match one up for you saving you some time and aggravation. Just shooting ideas, trying to plan for when mine goes out.
  19. Well at $350 from MSA and $200 for an aftermarket one at zcarsource I think retrofitting one from another vehicle seems like the right thing to do. Boy am I glad mine isn't leaking, knock on wood. What made you decide on the ford escort one CO? I guess you had to research a lot to find one close to the stock one?

Wonder what else is wrong. Just proceed with caution. Check EVERYTHING.

Does any of your service paperwork show any head work or engine work being done?
  24. rcb280z replied to mentalite's post in a topic in Open Discussions
I figured it was going to be something drastic to cause all that noise. Now to figure out why.
