  1. Why a ZX motor?
  2. Good thing you dont live in CA Capt or where the smog laws are ruff. You'd be forced to look at rich running conditions.
  3. Wow Philip, you are right! Time is flying by. And the older you get the faster it flies. Wish that was the same for my Z !
  4. Let us know it went well for you. The site that "siteunseen" gave you will work for you. I used the same one and it was a piece of cake. Once you see how easy it is you will want to do more.
  5. Okay those are nice! Thanks for the pics.
  6. RIP John. Such a good Man!
  7. Still couldn't get the first one to work properly. Went to local pick a part lot and found one on a 300zx and the guy let me have it for $10! Good deal and it was practically brand new. Got it home, installed it and the same as the first one. Would not idle higher than 800rpms. Cold start was working, you can tell. Before I installed it I adjusted it to open fully allowing as much air as possible thru. No luck. Re-installed the stock one and it works like its supposed to. About 1300rpms down to 800 in about 5 minutes. So again, not sure why this particular AAR doesn't work on my 77 280z but Im sticking to the OE one for now. Its better than the alternative in my case. I was just curious to began with on this alternative and was willing to give it a shot and did. I did notice that with the OE there is a lot of adjusting that can be done where as the alternative unit has very little adjustment. FWIW
  8. Hey Jim, can you post a couple pics of your seats.

Nice paint! Looks like B210 hub caps?
  10. I wouldn't drive a Z in Chicago during the winter IMO.
  11. Hey Dan, thats good to know. I think I will try to adjust mine again (bench adj.) and re-install it and see what happens.

They would work for non-EFI cars.

Michael's Zcar, if you still decide to go with the cold air intake I will sell you what I have. Just PM me to let me know.

Wow thats one serious rust bucket! Sure has a lot of interior door skins. Small fortune right there if in good shape.
  17. Zed Head pretty much said it. I did it with my 77 when I was in Vegas. You didn't have to pass a visual, just an emissions test which was easier than CA standards. I ran SU's on my 77 for several years and had to re-install the EFI when I moved back to CA. I removed the EFI harness and stored it away. Everything else just stayed in place ie dropping resisters, etc. And of course a lot of it went away when I removed the intake. Have you considered the megasquirt fuel system? Been reading good things about it. Its even a good system, from what Iv'e read, as a replacement for our stock systems. Fully programmable. And then there (is) (was) the "Hellfire" which must have disappeared into the wind?

I bought the K&N kit from MSA. Had it on the car for a few months and went back to the stock set up. Didn't notice a HP increase. Probably wouldn't be noticeable anyway unless I had other mods besides exhaust done. $130 down the drain IMHO. I may try the K&N filter that fits into the stock snorkel unless someone can tell us that this also is a waste of time and money.

No performance changes. It's there (EGR) to "clean" up the exhaust, in so many word.

You could always buy a Tuff shed. It could go anywhere on your property. No limits to what you can do with a custom shed. I converted part of my garage at our first house and that seemed to work fine. It was right near the downstairs bathroom too which was convenient. BTW, I do not work for Tuff Shed

Keep checking ebay. I bought one (new) and no problems with it. I just looked and don't see any yet but I would check periodically. If it's not required for AZ I would do what is mentioned above. The only thing with that is if you move anywhere that has strict smog laws like CA you will run into problems.

Gotta give them credit, pretty cool build!
  23. Yes I did the adjustment. It did idle higher but still rough. It idled right after installing the original one back on. Again, I am more curious about the operation than anything. It is a good alternative if it works. Just not the one I bought for some reason.

    Looks like a 280zx distributor.
  25. Yes please do as mine did NOT work for me as you see in my post's. I even took it apart and found nothing wrong with. Threw my original back on and it's working fine right now. But would like an alternative one that works next to perfect. Where did you find it for $29?
